The Mayumi is a well conceived hotel for short stays. We enjoyed the light breakfast, room features and the overall friendly vibe. We didn’t get to enjoy the courtyard due to the surprising rounds of heavy rain but the space was nicely designed.
There is a lot to like about the Mayumi. —The architecture and the courtyard are fantastic. What a beautiful place to sit and relax! —The room is beautifully done. I could do without the glass walled bathroom, but there are curtains so that’s okay. Just a bit silly. — There is a massive amount of storage, which makes it easy to unpack for a three days stay. The downsides make it a deal breaker for me: —The bed is only “full” sized. Too small for my husband and me to sleep comfortably. —One side of the bed is about 8 inches from the shower wall. There is no nightstand on that side. No easy getting in and out of bed. No place to set your nighttime necessities. We ended up moving the covers and pillows and sleeping with our heads at the foot of the bed and putting our things on the bench there. —It’s really hard to turn over in bed on the full-sized foam mattress without waking one’s partner. —overall, the room is pretty small for two people. —There is no glass or cup for drinking in the room. A sign invites you to the community kitchen for water. That is just weird. —The continental breakfast is pretty lackluster. It would benefit from having bowls and utensils set out for easy access. The first two mornings we were there I didn’t take any cereal or oatmeal because there were no dishes. Why not? How about a kitchen orientation from the staff? —There is no dedicated parking area. On street parking only and be careful on street sweeping days. A single person would be pretty comfortable here. But the rooms are too small for couples.…
I only stayed for one night, but it was a pleasant stay. The associate was very nice and accommodating. There is a beautiful and charming courtyard with swings and a fire pit that I wish I'd gotten a chance to enjoy. The room was very clean and modern. My only complaint was that they didn't have room darkening curtains, so the sunshine woke me up before I was ready. There is no parking lot, but street parking was safe and easy. I would definitely stay here again!!
Rooms are clean and modern, but not very large. For those of us who spend very little time at the motel, it was perfect. The courtyard is outstanding, with tables for outdoor dining and lots of plantings. COVID precautions were in place and clearly followed by the hotel staff. Staff were uniformly friendly and professional. The one disappointment was the breakfast offerings...they were few and all sweet. Some more variety would have been much appreciated. The bananas were turning brown.
One of thee best hotels to stay at in the Los Angeles area. Beautiful boutique stylish hotel situated in a great neighborhood. Competent staff all around and clean hotel. Booked for 2 days initially but ended up extending for 3 more. Perfect location to get anywhere in the LA area.
