I hope this review inspires the ownership to make some changes. When I checked in, there was a large construction effort happening on the entire entrance/lobby area, spanning back through most of the hotel. As a result there was concrete dust, leaking water, and mud all over the entrance to the lobby. I had to walk through all that, duck under a beam that was supporting a worker and his equipment with various cables dangling off it. When I entered the lobby there was nobody at the reception. I waited for a minute or two, pressed the buzzer, looked outside, came back in and pressed the buzzer a couple more times, and eventually someone showed up. The construction was so loud that we couldn't hear each other through the window, and the receptionist and I kept having to repeat what we were saying over and over to communicate. We finally check into the motel, I drop off my stuff in the room, and go to pick up my girlfriend. When we get back, there's a guy in a tank top with nunchucks sticking out of the back of his pants, pacing around the parking lot in front of our room, angrily kicking various objects. We park, and as we're getting out of the car he asks us for a cigarette, and it's apparent that he's on stimulants. We tell him we don't have any, and he walks away. We get together her bags and start walking up to the room, only to realize that he's walking in front of us, up the stairs, and into the room right next door to ours. As we're entering the room he's leaning against the railing outside, staring at us, and makes some comment about how I have my girlfriend well trained, then continues staring until I close the door. The room itself is okay, super basic and cheap, but clean and decent enough for the price. The only legitimate criticism I have is that the pillows appear to be made up of a cotton sack that's been loosely filled with lumps of balled up smaller cotton sacks. The internet is abysmal, speed testing at about 3-5 Mbps, which means it struggles with even one device streaming video over 720p. I found myself googling to see if there was a Starbucks around that I could go to in order to do work. Anyway, over the next day or two that room next door has 2-3 other guys coming in and out non stop throughout the day, hanging out right in front of the rooms, talking loudly, arguing, physically fighting at one point, slamming doors and partying until late into the night. At one point it seems like they're knocking on our door repeatedly throughout the day, and I finally swing open the door and ask them if they've been in fact knocking on our door. They're very kind and apologetic, and show me that when they close their door it sounds like someone is knocking on our door, then tell me that someone was knocking on their door all night the previous night. When we leave our room the next day, the guy who asked us for a cigarette immediately comes up to us and says me and my girlfriend look really good together, then asks me if I can help him set up his PayPal account because he's got a $600 million offer that he can't accept because he can't get PayPal to work. The day after that I wake up and the water is turned off. An hour later it's still off, so I call the front desk and they tell me that someone broke the water pipe and that it should be fixed in another hour. To their credit, it was fixed in that hour, and luckily we didn't have to start work until later on that day. We didn't report any of the guys next door because we didn't want to have police come out and arrest or potentially shoot anyone. That said, this entire experience has taught me a lesson to never again book the cheapest hotel in an area.

Much better than what it was in past years. Clean rooms, nice beds and more. Worth the price and near stores and restaurants. When staying in Culver City, please remember that a lot of Hollywood history is in the city, so plan your visit well. There is a lot to see. George Vreeland Hill
