We went to Crest line for my older Grand daughter's Birthday but you know teena ger's.So our younger Grand Daughter came to the cabin with us and had a blast on the simpson 's and chipmonk's themed playground. It was so AWESOME! And the slide was so cool.
Jerry the owner was very generous and gave us our returning guest discount. So It snowed the day before we got there and he had his workers out shoveling snow and salting the ground in front of our cabin before we arrived. We stayed in the John Wayne cabin and it was awesome. We will return soon.
We chose this place because it had solid reviews. On the phone, the manager was friendly and helpful but things changed when we got there. Maybe he was having a bad day but it affected our trip for the worse. TL;DR this place smelled bad and the manager is a jerk who held onto our deposit for weeks. The manager showed us to our cabin ("Arrowhead"). Upon entering the cabin, I noticed a slight smell. It was a little nasty but I figured it was subtle enough to get used to and it was late on a Saturday so we didn't feel like trying to argue with the guy for a cancellation. He asked if we wanted the wifi password and we said sure (thinking we might watch something on Netflix later). Speaking to us like children, he treated it like a riddle rather than writing it down like everyone else does: "The password is who you are." "Okay, so 'w-h-o-y-o...'" "No! Who are you?!?" "Uhhhh" (Annoyed we couldn't guess) "You're a... GUEST at (mumble mumble)" This little game was kind of annoying; I'm sure it's his normal schtick but it was delivered with an unusual amount of attitude. It would have been no big deal except that when we logged on finally there was no internet. It was around this point that we opened the bathroom door and smelled the worst mildew I've ever encountered. We had to keep the door closed and hold our noses while in there. The guy had mentioned that the wifi had been down for hours earlier so I went to the office to tell him the wifi wasn't working again. He didn't believe me or simply didn't care. He said his son was using the wifi in the next room. After I pressed, he admitted his son was on another wifi network. So then I asked where the wifi router for our cabin was. "Right here" he said, gesturing behind him. "So the wifi router for our cabin is 50 feet away with a few thick walls between?" "Yeah, SO?" I finally got a weak signal on my phone while standing less than 5 feet from the actual router. Tired of arguing, I started to leave but not before asking for some deodorizer for our stinky bathroom. He said that he didn't have any... the maid might but she wasn't there. Very helpful. Back in Mildew Cabin, the wifi still wasn't working. We're old enough to know that some battles just end up not being worth the time and emotions wasted so we decided to just go to dinner and chalk this up as a loss. I really have no idea where the attitude came from or why he wouldn't bother to check if the wifi was working in our cabin or address the smell I complained about. I know customer service can be challenging but curmudgeons should probably stay out of this line of work. Only upside: cool wolf tapestry on the wall and cute breakfast nook. Also dog-friendly. Couple more downsides: the bathroom sink spits out a pathetic drip of water and the bed seemed old and worn down. (I would have submitted this two weeks ago after we got back but he didn't give us our deposit back for two weeks because they were on vacation.)…
Nice place to stay, safety was the issue and never have a problem! If you are in a budget this is the place for you....thumbs up, nice lodge to stay in the crestline area and to visit the mountain citie's areound plus the Great Lakes, Have lunch in arrowhead and dinner at big bear, take a drive from mountain to desert city as Hesperia and back to sleep at the lodge, have breakfast at the bear family restaurant at old town Crestline. Very polite and helpful manager! Thank You!....rp
My family and I have been coming to Crestline for several years. We only stay at the Crest Lodge because it is truly the best place in this little town. It's a great place to take family members and friends. You can spend quality time together during the day then at night, retreat to your own little cabin. Each one is equipped with its own bathroom and kitchen and the grocery store is just down the street next to Lake Gregory. The property boasts a clean pool, games, activities, BBQs, playground and gazebo, etc. and it is also all fenced in, so you feel safe. The owner, Steve, put up some huge characters which makes the grounds lively and cute. The kids love it! Want to get married on the premises? No problem! Several have been conducted here. The property managers are extremely helpful and friendly. Customer service goes a long way for me! This is truly a great mountain getaway and I highly recommend it.…
The cabins all appear to be facing the asphalt parking area. I stayed one night with friends on the "trundle" in Silverwood. Since I was there on the second night of their stay and did not explore the grounds, I can only comment on the cabin as I found it. Kitchen was very small but appeared to be stocked. No ice maker but there were 2 ice trays. Microwave was on top of fridge. Small coffee maker and it looked like they supplied a package of coffee and packets of cream/sugar. The trundle was a drawer in the living room wall that extended under the full size bed in the bedroom. It was not comfortable and there was no support at the edges. I understand the mattress in the bedroom was also uncomfortable and had the impression it was broken down. If the trundle is out there is barely room to move in the living area. The bathroom was off the bedroom so no closing doors at night. Very small shower and sink area without much counter space. Soap and bath towels and toilet paper were provided. There were ceiling fans in both rooms and we had all the windows open to cool down at night, otherwise it would have been too warm. The lodge seems further than a mile from Lake Gregory. I assumed it would have been an easy hike to everything (lake, town, etc) but reconsidered after driving there. Lake Street is on an incline. It would have been a very warm steep walk. The cabin is also not handicapped friendly. There are floor heaters that were still giving off heat and cabinets and other things that stick out in odd locations. It looks like the cabin was upgraded in some respects but it is very basic. Felt it was overpriced at $145/night.…
Very nice spot to stay if you are in the area. We almost stayed somewhere else and I am so glad we ended up here. The cabins were pricier than a regular hotel in town but worth every penny to be right on the mountain (and the cheapest we found that was right on the mountain). Ours was nice and clean and oh so cute & unique with . Also very nice to have a kitchen and all the commodities so no need to leave! Glad we had the chance to stay here!
CREST LODGE ROCKS! I went there on Fourth of July weekend with my two kids - aged 7 and 9. Here's what I loved: The safety, the peacefulness, the location (right off of the road that brings you into Crestline), the KITCHEN in our cabin! Nothing like being able to put some stuff in a 'fridge as soon as you get to your temporary home! The dog-friendly thing (mine's only 3 pounds, but they don't act all freaked out that I will be disrespectful of their property, in fact - they assume that I won't). Here's what my kids loved: The playground with the Simpsons life-like figures (they're huge!) The swings and slide and usual stuff, the sand that means falling doesn't hurt, the other movie cartoon figures, the pool that was beautiful and clean, the movies you can borrow from the office, but most of all: The safety. I don't let my kids just go off and explore, certainly not in a strange place. I with I felt that I could, but I don't. But the feeling of old-school safety at Crest Lodge was awesome. My daughter wanted to go play at the playground, and my first thought was no, but then I thought - why? The whole place is fenced in. It's just big enough to be fun, but it's small enough to be a tiny neighborhood where people care about each other's kids and have no problem being mutually responsible for each other. Oh, the cabin? Yeah, perfect. Perfect size, not too schmalzy, not a bunch of knickknacks, but stuff that makes it really a mountain cabin (it's hard for me to say what those things are, but you know when you see them!) There wasn't air conditioning, because you only need AC for a few days a year there ... our night there was hot as heck, but they had a great fan that cooled the bedroom in 5 minutes. Other reviewers have said that Aaron was a real selling point for their experience at Crest Lodge, and I'm going to add my opinion to the fray. The thing is, my cabin was right next to the proprietor's lodge. I'm one of those people who can easily feel that I am screwing up or doing something wrong, so that was intimidating to me at first - "The guy in charge is nearby!" But instead of feeling that I might be doing something wrong, I felt that it might be fun if I came out on the deck and hung out and chatted with him and his wife. I come from a big fat Italian family, and I didn't feel a bit different then I would if I were getting up in the morning at my family reunion and wanted to go hang with one of my cousins. I write this with a very thorough experience with Crestline's available lodging. There are only three places, and I've only stayed at the other two because I wanted to be walking distance to the very small main drag. Seriously, the town... it's small. Just a grocery store, a bunch of shops, and a convenience store, and the lake. I've never had a problem with the other two places... But I like Crest Lodge the very best. Crestline is really friendly, and the proprietors of these places act like your extended family member. They want to share their knowledge of the community, and they genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Yeah, I know that they know that people like me are gonna come home and write stuff like this. But I think they really, really have a vested interest in what a special thing they have going on in Crestline, and they welcome guests with the hope that we'll appreciate it, have fun, and come back. So - go to Crest Lodge. You'll want to go back. I absolutely loved it.…
We went on a last minute getaway for the weekend with our 2 children. Aaron, the manager, is so friendly and helpful. Our cabin was perfect! Cozy, with all the amenities of home, including a cute pull out bed for our kids. The kids loved the play area. We felt very safe letting them run around and play on the property. We walked to breakfast and we were a 3 minute drive from the town and the lake, where we hung out all day. We will be back!
It was above our expectation. The place is clean, and the manager is very friendly. It is a short distance to Lakes Gregory and Arrowhead. We will go back for another weekend, and we will refer this place to others.
