The Coronado Inn is located on beautiful Coronado Island, home to one of the top 5 beaches in the country. With its great atmosphere and central location, the Coronado Inn is the perfect hotel for vacation or business. Come stay with us, our friendly staff is eager to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
While the bed was the high point of the stay, the room was VERY dirty..floorboard haven't seen a wipe down in a least a year. We had to ask the desk person for something to clean the brown stuff off of the microwave and fridge. Mold was everywhere in the bathroom. Walls are paper thin...bring ear plugs. Other than that breakfast was good and staff was really nice.
We had stayed for 4nights/5days in July for Comic Con as one can imagine, it is quite difficult to find a place to stay on a budget during this time of year. We chose this hotel for a couple of different reasons. First, they have a continental breakfast which consists of cereal, yogurt, some bread items, and some fruit. It's not ideal, but you make due with what you get. Secondly, parking is first come first serve. There is about 10 parking spots for the whole hotel, the rest is street parking. We arrived about an hour earlier than expected and asked if we could leave our car as we explored, which was perfectly fine with the staff. I did find it quite odd when we did check in, that the front desk clerk actually walked us to our room, and went inside to make sure everything was ready for us. It was a nice gesture, but a little weird. The down side of this hotel is the fact that it is clearly run down. Our room was nice and spacious, but was in dire need of a remodel. The door was so crooked, that we had difficulty opening it. Plus there was a huge gap between the floor and the door. The bathroom is poorly designed. The shower curtain was too long and got in the way of showering. The shower itself was extremely tiny, even for myself and I am 5'2". The toilet had no water pressure and would not flush. We had to adjust the water pressure ourselves. The sink for the bathroom was actually in the room part. I can't imagine how many disgusting hands had touched the bathroom door handle. The last thing about the room was there were no privacy curtains. Our room windows faced the busy street and there was some patio furniture right outside our room for anyone to use. Each night as we got back to our room, there was a group of guys sitting there and because the windows did not have privacy curtains, we were very afraid that they could see through the shutters, which had large gaps between each shutter and between the window frame. We basically had to do everything in the dark. Lastly, I want to mention that this hotel is walking distance to the ferry. The Ferry runs all day and is super convenient. There are a few restaurants close by and even a liquor store one block up. We did not have the opportunity to eat at any of these places, but they seemed to bee packed each night we walked by. I would say this is a hotel for someone just passing through, but I wouldn't recommend staying for more than a night.
We decided to take a quick weekend getaway. Find this little place on Coronado Island. Walked in the room and was pleasantly surprised. Then the rest...ugh. Ants and roaches came out. Ants in the bathroom. Flipped on light in bathroom late at night to find roaches. My worst fear in life. My husband sat on edge of bed and the cheap metal frame broke. While the room looked great, the rest came into play and it was ruined. Also, the air conditioner was in the bathroom leaving the room too warm for comfort.
This quant little place is a jewel. The beds are SUPER Comfy! We slept like a babies on them. The our room was extremely clean. The decor is a little dated, but nothing major. We were surprised our room had a small kitchenette! The room was more like an apartment then anything. It had a nice size flat screen TV & had the usual soap, shampoo set up. The towels were bleach white. We stayed for 2 nights and when we got back from our outing. The housekeeping staff forgot to replace our washcloths, but no biggie.
The front desk guy, gave us a fresh set from the laundry room. The breakfast wasn't the greatest, just a few choices of cold cereal. Bagels, toast, yogurts, coffee, & 2 kinds of juices. Not the greatest but it was something. We didn't take a dip in the pool, due to it actually being on the chilly side. So we passed on the pool. But it was clean, not large or deep. But hey, its an island. There's beaches all around you!
The hotel is pretty easy to find, and its only a couple of blocks from some shops, docks, and beach. If you would like to go to a larger beach, just go to the south end of the island. About 5 minutes from the hotel. And you'll see a large beautiful beach, just spawling out.
The only complaint I do have is, the parking is very small. So you have get back to your room early. Unless you want to park on the side roads. Or across the street, where there other property is located. But its the same, limited parking also. And the hotel is located next to a residential area, so you got very small spaces. The other hotels close to this one, seem to suffer from the same problem. Please keep in mind there is NO elevator, so if you have someone thats disabled or has a hard time with stairs. Ask for the bottom floor.
Overall this is a nice place, and I'd stay here again. With no questions asked. Its got my thumbs up!
We stayed here for two nights. The Coronado Inn has rooms built around the parking lot - Kind of reminds me of a 50s Travel Lodge. Anyway, the rooms are comfortable and quiet. The bed, at least in our room, was very squeaky. All rooms have a large screen TV. There is also free WiFi. They have a pool as well as a couple of gas powered BBQs out by the pool. They serve breakfast, but it is just bananas, donuts, sweet roles and coffee. We skipped breakfast here since there are so many good restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. If you are out on the town, you may need to park on the street when you come back to your room at night.. There isn't enough parking spaces for everybody.
