The hotel is located bang on the main road, more like you can take a break after a day long drive, i stayed for a night on my way to kerala. The reason why i would rate it as an average stay is because of lack of clean bedsheets, bath towels etc.. though i requested them to change it the new ones were also not great.

The property is located on the main road in Gonikoppal, Coorg. It’s a very Well maintained property. The rooms are specious and the interior is also great. The services were excellent and the food was the best in the area. The only disadvantage is that it is 50 km from Madikeri, around which most of the sights that we want to see. The staff is also very friendly and responds to each and every request immediately.

I chanced to stay at The Cocoon, Gonikoppal because my drive had to be cut short due to some official work which needed urgent closure. Gonikoppal is still not a big town and finding a decent accommodation was a problem. I had to rely on the internet and mobile phone to make a quick search for a hotel. The initial options all turned out to be smaller lodges next to the main road with no secure car parking. The Cocoon is located on the main road coming from Virajpet side at the end of Gonikoppal town. The hotel building is slightly tucked away from the road side, and the first floor being occupied by a bank ATM. At first the parking area in front of the hotel may look small, but they have a bigger parking area behind the hotel building. I had made my reservation via an on line portal, and the check in process was quite easy. The hotel had a restaurant on the first floor and the rooms are on third & fourth floors. The room given to me was spacious, air-conditioned and with a neat & clean bathroom. The hotel also provides a small toiletry kit and clean towels as well. An LED TV which has a basic collection of all India based channels and a working intercom completed the electronics gadgetries. The hotel have Wi-Fi facility, but I did not try using the same. There was also an electrical tea pot and a tea making kit which made me happy. I could have a hot cup of tea before I started my drive next day early morning. The room did not have a balcony but had a big window which opened to a mosque and had a view of the road towards Hunsur. I tried lunch & dinner options at the restaurant of The Cocoon and found the food to be tasty and sumptuous. The staff was also service minded, prompt and efficient. I did not try the complimentary breakfast as I had to start driving early in the morning. I would recommend this hotel to the visitors to Coorg, especially those who use their own vehicles. Gonikoppal is on the main road towards Kerala side and also some of the tourist spots in Coorg district are easily accessible from here as well. So this could be a less expensive but good stay option available in the district.…
