Worst stay ever!!!!! Beware! Horrific smells coming from on the bathroom. Toxic and putrid. Cleaning lady with dark hair and glasses banged on my door at 11am and started filming me and yelling at me because I wasn’t checked out. Yes, fi lining me while I was in my underwear. Seriously people. WTF. Don’t make the same mistake. Trust. Lawsuit on the way.
To be frank, I was kind of skeptical to stay here because of the reviews. I was on a budget and looking for a room for 4 nights. The location was great and the rooms were small but nice. The owners live on premises and are hands on. I think that a lot of these complaints and lack of responsiveness from the business is because English is their second language. I personally had a few kind exchanges with them and you could tell they were appreciative. For those 1 star reviews, to get a decent spot a few blocks from the beach for $50 a night...What is there to complain about?
The manager, Vicky and Niel, were exceptional welcoming on my arrival. There were plenty of clean towels and the room was as clean as a whistle. I will definitely be back when I have a business trip again in this area. Close to beach and shops. This place was pet friendly. Maurice also referred me here and was right about everything this place has to offer. I will be back
I stayed here for two nights, and specifically chose this hotel due to their dog friendliness, The first night I discovered there were very thin walls, as I was privy to an argument between neighboring guests. While the room itself was clean, the mattress was very hard and left me with a sore hip. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink. I would have been willing to overlook all of this given the price, however, The second night, while I was listening to my loud neighbors again, the power went out. I took my (very small) dog to the window to speak to the night manager (owner). He apologized and was very friendly, said he would speak to my neighbors about being loud, which he did. The power remained out until 530am, I had to shower and get ready for bed in the dark and could not charge my electronics which were needed to work remotely this morning. When I was packing my car to leave, the owners wife came out and told me they didn’t know I had a dog with me. I explained that not only was I up front about the dog, but it was the whole reason I chose to stay at this property. Additionally, her husband had seen the dog when I walked up to his window the evening prior, and he didn’t say anything about it. They attempted to charge me $200 for not complying to their dog policy. After some discussion, they said they would charge me $25 for the dog and would refund my second night stay due the power outage. Later upon checking my bank, I saw I was charged for two nights, I called the hotel and spoke to the same gentleman. He was now denying any knowledge of our conversation, and insisting that I needed to pay for the two nights I was there. He began yelling at me and acting unprofessionally, and eventually I ended the unproductive conversation and called my bank. I do not recommend this hotel, the owners are deceitful and acted unprofessionally. I travel often and have stayed at a handful of properties in the area, but have never had such a poor experience.…
This hotel seems to have recently renovated. It’s pretty clean and definitely affordable. The walls are paper thin and the rooms are extremely noisy. Neighbors were up until after 1 am each night with TVs super loud. The air conditioner in the room sounds like a lawn mower and the train passes nearby. The bed and bedding is not great. The shower takes literally 5 minutes to get hot and is not much more that a trickle. The location is great and seems to be a safe place. Hard to complain because the price is right, but I would not stay here again.
We brought 2 small dogs (10 lbs each). I notified property when I booked. Booking.com site says pets allowed and fee MAY apply. We are on a limited budget and shopped around to get an affordable rate. We booked for 3 nights. We just arrived and checked in and were told the pet fee is $20 per dog per day. So an additional $40 a day for our dogs. We only paid $50 per night for our room. So now we're paying almost double from what we budgeted. We can't turn around now and go home so have to pay the fee in order to stay. This should be clearly stated before making a booking decision. I'm not happy.
I checked into the Scandia Motel with my daughters for one night and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was big, clean, and updated. I know in the winter months the rates were cheaper so I hope it goes back down but it was a very nice experience and the gentleman at the front desk was so very nice and accommodating. Thank you!!
I stayed here while my home was being fumigated. Chosen for the price and close proximity to the beach, I couldn't have been happier! The owners were so nice. The room was beautifully appointed, so clean and comfortable. It's within walking distance to all Carlsbad Village has to offer. Even though I'm a local, I may have to make this a monthly getaway!
Great spot! Nice owners and very clean. Better than Motel 6. Very close to beach and shops. Train nearby but that’s the whole area. Affordable and good TV options. Parking and pets allowed. Def recommend .
