I booked two rooms at a small luxury spa resort in Uma Baro, Bhutan. One is a valley view room (which costs more) and the other room is without the valley view. Although the valley view room cost more and is perhaps slightly bigger, it merely provides a small corner view of the valley of Paro and is not worth the additional payment if one is expecting a good view of the valley. Hotel ambience is good. Spa ambience and experience are also good. There is an indoor heated swimming pool.

Dear LaiWingYong Warmest greetings from COMO Uma Paro!! Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us and We are very delighted to learn that you had an amazing time at our beautiful resort and enjoyed the hotel accommodation & services. While the valley rooms overlook the Paro valley, the tall pine trees have certainly blocked some views at the lower floors. As much as we wish to clear the trees, the law prohibits the same and we are looking at alternative solutions. We look forward to welcoming you back here at our Magical Bhutan in the near future and remain at your disposal for any assistance required. Best regards, Vishal Pradhan Rooms Division Manager

We went there for four days for my husband birthday. They upgraded us to villa which was a huge surprise. Also gave us surprised birthday cake. The hotel also offer great tailor made private tours. We are most impressed by our tour guides Kezang and Chencho who were extremely helpful, with great care and very knowledgeable, funny and friendly. The manager , James , greeted us warmly every time he saw us. Restaurant people and our butler remembered our preferences for breakfast etc so we never need to repeat it and it’s already taken care of next day. The country is beautiful and more importantly these people there made our memory one of the most unforgettable !

WOW. What else can you say?

Arrived after a long day of sightseeing and was informed that all members of our group had been upgraded to a villa.

The villas a free standing buildings on the grounds away from the hotel, and they take you to them in a golf buggy so you don't have to walk.

The villas are HUGE! I couldn't believe this whole space was just for me. You get a lounge room, huge bathroom with claw foot bath and separate shower and toilet, a bedroom with a king sized bed and your own massage room! There is also a small butlers pantry for the use of the butler attached to your villa. One of my favorite things was actually that there is a space in the bathroom for your luggage so you don't have to mess up your sleeping space with your suitcase. You can really spread out your belongings and hang stuff up and there's room for more than one bag.

The resort is high on a hill and the view from the bath is amazing.

Had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was lovely as well as drinks at the bar. The staff were also really friendly and helpful.

They also have an archery range so you can try Bhutan's national sport which I thought was really cool.

The only thing with this place, and it's not a complaint just something to be aware of, is that it's really far out of town. It's not walkable to get into Paro so you will need to catch a taxi - I think they may have a shuttle, but don't quote me on that.

I did manage to have a look at the hotel rooms, which to be honest are a bit plain and dated for the price being charged (the villas most certainly are not at all). They have a pool and the spa looks nice too, but didn't have time to try either of these.

The only small problem I had was it took far too long for them to get the luggage to our rooms. We had been hiking and then rafting that day and had a short turn around at the hotel to get changed before attending a business dinner in Paro. It came time to leave and my luggage still had not arrived. I was still damp, sweaty and quite a mess and there was no way I could go out like that, especially to a business function. My luggage eventually arrived and I was forced to have the quickest shower of my life and run (couldn't wait for the buggy) to reception to meet my group and guide - I wasn't even the last one to arrive. Overall, it was a small thing that was annoying, but didn't really taint my experience of what was otherwise an absolutely wonderful stay.

We stayed in a villa over the New Year. Our family of four experienced top class service from our excellent butler Leki. He was quietly efficient and super attentive yet always warm and smiling. My son enjoyed his archery and dart lessons with him, and he was quick to anticipate our needs ( like packing our favourite cookies from the room for our hike to the Tiger s Nest etc ). Bukhari Restaurant staff were also commendable and the food was amazing, as expected from the COMO brand. The indoor pool could be slightly warmer and the path to the villa more brightly lit when it is dark. It was overall a very comfortable, warm and fuzzy experience, a really nice way to end our holiday in Bhutan.

James and his entire team run a perfectly orchestrated operation, generating happiness throughout. The staff, Tshering, Yankgi, Léela, Maya… were all incredibly attentive and graciously anticipating our steps. The property is classy, in a peaceful setting and beautiful views of the valley. Food is simply delicious, and creatively prepared with local and seasonal ingredients. Truly a wonderful experience and a GREAT choice when you visit Paro.

From the moment hotel manager Agraj Tyagi personally welcomed us to when he wished a heartfelt "see you soon" 7 days later, every detail of the property and warm interaction with every staff member was perfect. Beautiful property where everyone perfectly strikes the balance making you feel like a cherished family member while also respecting privacy and space. This is the type of property where your wishes are anticipated and well executed before you even know you have them. Rooms are beautiful, warm, calming... and they gave us personal Happy Holiday notes and surprise gifts/treats in our room during turndown service! The restaurant and bar areas are out of an architectural digest magazine, and the food is fresh, tasty, with lots of heart. The restaurant service quality and friendliness really stood out. Warm welcomes each morning for breakfast, etc. Expansive, high quality menu of farm to table American, international, and Bhutanese dishes that were all very tasty. Beautiful heated swimming pool too!
Loved getting to know a little bit about many of the staff, and really appreciated all of their individual favorite recommendations on what to do/see/eat/experience.
Thanks for such a magical visit.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is situated out of town and is tranquil & serene. While the rooms are simple, they are well appointed, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and served in a beautiful round room that is in keeping with the natural setting. There is a nice size and well equipped gym, although we didn't use it after hiking to the Tiger's Nest. The staff was attentive, solicitous and incredible responsive. I had an amazing massage with Tandin (spelling?). I highly recommend staying here if you are in Paro.

The Uma, Paro, was as exceptional as the Uma Punakha but with a difference.

The Uma Punakha had the views, the Uma Paro has the luscious, green parkland setting with amazing wildlife walking around your villas.

I stayed at the Como Villa, as well as one of the rooms in the main building.

Everything was just as you would expect from a luxury hotel. Delightful, friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food. There is even a large vegetable garden which they grow and then cook their own produce.

It's impossible to single out staff members. The General Manager James, really treated you like an old friend - and I saw this with every guest. He really is the icing on the cake of the Como group in Bhutan.

But then all of the reception staff, the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant, the head of food and beverages... I don't know where to start.

I didn't stay long enough to try the spa treatments, despite my villa having a dedicated treatment room. But I have no doubt these are excellent.

It's a short drive to the town centre by taxi - and there are no equivalent hotels nearer the town than this. So definitely don't be put off that it takes 10 minutes to get into town.

Absolutely a highlight of my trip to Bhutan.

I chose the 6 day itinerary with COMO hotels, staying at both Como Uma in Paro as well as 2 nights in Como Punakha valley. I still can’t decide which was my favourite. Both have beautiful locations, natural and beautiful rooms and architecture. The staff is wonderful and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The food is delicious and healthy with both local and western food options.
The guides and drivers are absolutely fantastic and fun, and the itinerary was made for us to see the best highlights of Bhutan - they are knowledgeable, interesting, attentive and always accomodating little whims and wishes all along the trip. Loved every single day of it!
The only little wish I would have, would be for them to increase the Spa spaces and facilities, they have 1-2 treatment rooms so Book ahead for that wonderful massage once you are done with hiking for the day:) I could imagine a little jacuzzi outside with that great view to relax in, and a steam bath or some more real COMO Spa features, that would make it just that little more perfect!
I greatly recommend both properties highly!

I stayed at the COMO Uma Paro hotel for two nights and was quite disappointed with the experience. The rooms in the main part of the hotel felt worn and outdated, and unfortunately, it did not feel worth the price we paid. Perhaps the individual cottages offer a different experience.

On a positive note, the food was good, though not exceptional.
