A very friendly staff in a very well appointed hotel. Very nice grounds to walk in, and the staff were very helpful. Having a nice fire to sit around for pre-prandial drinks was great, especially as it was winter. The food in the restaurant was really good, and the staff very helpful.
We went there for four days for my husband birthday. They upgraded us to villa which was a huge surprise. Also gave us surprised birthday cake. The hotel also offer great tailor made private tours. We are most impressed by our tour guides Kezang and Chencho who were extremely helpful, with great care and very knowledgeable, funny and friendly. The manager , James , greeted us warmly every time he saw us. Restaurant people and our butler remembered our preferences for breakfast etc so we never need to repeat it and it’s already taken care of next day. The country is beautiful and more importantly these people there made our memory one of the most unforgettable !
It was tough for us to hike but they were amazing in providing all the necessary support. Amazing patient and professional staff. The food was great. Would suggest maybe a bit more local experiences . Thank you!
I booked two rooms at a small luxury spa resort in Uma Baro, Bhutan. One is a valley view room (which costs more) and the other room is without the valley view. Although the valley view room cost more and is perhaps slightly bigger, it merely provides a small corner view of the valley of Paro and is not worth the additional payment if one is expecting a good view of the valley. Hotel ambience is good. Spa ambience and experience are also good. There is an indoor heated swimming pool.
The service at Uma Paro is top-notch! Each staff members greets you with a genuine smile and a readiness to provide assistance. We felt so well-taken-care-of. The meals were all delicious (and abundant!) - with lots of choices and an accommodation to our dietary needs. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the view from the room was lovely. Highly recommend!
We stayed in a villa over the New Year. Our family of four experienced top class service from our excellent butler Leki. He was quietly efficient and super attentive yet always warm and smiling. My son enjoyed his archery and dart lessons with him, and he was quick to anticipate our needs ( like packing our favourite cookies from the room for our hike to the Tiger s Nest etc ). Bukhari Restaurant staff were also commendable and the food was amazing, as expected from the COMO brand. The indoor pool could be slightly warmer and the path to the villa more brightly lit when it is dark. It was overall a very comfortable, warm and fuzzy experience, a really nice way to end our holiday in Bhutan.
Stay here if you can afford it. The hotel is exceptional in every respect. Clean, comfortable room and bed, wonderful facilities and extremely pleasant, helpful staff. It doesn’t get much better than this. First rate hotel in every respect. We especially enjoyed our yoga class, the instructor was top notch. Thanks to James the manager and his fantastic, hard working staff. A lovely experience!
The perfect way to cap off a trip to gorgeous Bhutan. A hot stone bath at the spa offers views of the entire valley, the complimentary coconut vanilla balls and spicy ginger tea are irresistible, and the service is out of this world. The rooms, while a little small, are clean and stylish. Turn down service was incredibly thorough and a really nice way of making a short stay feel special. A very memorable experience!
Staying in Como Uma Paro is one of the highlights for our trip to Bhutan. I'm so glad we did this at the final leg of our visit to enjoy this luxurious experience. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a very warmed & friendly GM James Low. The suite we stayed is big & clean, a little out dated. The hotel decoration is simple & classic Bhutanese. Our favorite part of the hotel is the food & services. For a foodie like me, was warned that the food in Bhutan might not be as good, but was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Food is excellent in Como and most of the food is air flew from elsewhere, so we had Papayas, Dragon fruits, Lamp Chops, Ibérico Ham & etc. Their Spa menu is just as impressive, the selection is wide for health conscious folks. What Impresses us most is the service staff in the Bukhari restaurant, we stayed there 3 nights, by the 2nd night, at dinner the waiter Phaja would know what are our preferences for drinks & food allergy, even remembered what we ordered the night before. For breakfast the same level of service, one morning when I mentioned about my sister going to hike Tiger Nest, Kinley immediately offered to pack us a trekking pack of snacks. Our last breakfast before we left for the airport, he even packed a special ordered breakfast for my sister (who is a fussy eater)with very specific request. The kindness of this hotel is even shared with our tour guild & driver. If they are around during meal times to pickup or drop off the hotel guests, they can join their staff in the cafeteria. We are experienced world-wide travelers, been to many luxury resorts & hotels. By far the service in COMO Uma Paro is bar none !!!…
Let’s start with the stomach, shall we? The food was insanely good, especially my golden buckwheat breakfast pancakes with pumpkin yogurt. The hotel was located at the top of a long narrow, switchback-ey road, where I held my breath to make our car smaller whenever we met an oncoming vehicle. Chilis drying on the house roofs, dogs and cows wandering aimlessly, and the dusty road combined to make the drive memorable. The hotel, was clean, the staff were smiling, and Uma Paro quickly became a home away from home. Nice gift shop, too!
