This is a beautiful hotel in the magical and serene Paro valley in Bhutan, a place as faraway as one can imagine and more than a bit like the fictional Shangri La. Constructed in the architectural style of the country, it is a gorgeous property, with lots of open space. Rooms are located in about eight separate buildings, four to six rooms per building, all with balconies facing the nearby river. Our room was spacious and very nicely decorated; it included separate tub and shower, comfortable king size bed, balcony seating area and more than ample closet space. The fitness center is reasonably well equipped and situated in a large, attractive space adjacent to a large indoor swimming pool. The lobby and public meeting spaces are distinctively and comfortably furnished and decorated in the local style. The staff is as gracious and anxious to please as one can find in a hotel anywhere. This is a top tier hotel by any standard.

Zhiwa Ling is one of the most beautiful hotels I have seen. And the service and experience are top notch. The architecture is traditional Bhutanese, but everything is modern and luxurious, the architect did great job of adapting Bhutanese aesthetic to a luxury hotel. The hotel is set on large well gardened grounds, with a main building and most of the rooms set in 3 story cottages on the grounds. Rooms are huge, comfortable and full of amenities. The staff is wonderful, food is great. The Zhiwa Ling experience is peaceful and serene, and nothing short of fantastic. Highly recommended.

No wonder “National Geographic” has awarded this hotel one of the very few “unique stays” in the world.

The hotel lies on a beautiful property (with a distant view of the mystical“Tiger’s Nest”); everything about the hotel is beautiful: from the elegant Bhutanese style main building to the tea house, spa/gym, and various gardens including the archery field

The food and wines were delicious.

The rooms are fantastic- spacious, modern with a Bhutanese touch, a comfortable balcony, and all the facilities of a 5 star hotel.

It was a shame that the swimming pool wasn’t finished. One opportunity for improvement is the gym equipment- it’s there but not that good. Need better treadmill and elliptical, as well as a bench for dumbbells.

We booked this property on Goibibo and on arrival at the property we were denied checkin. The Reservation staff on arrival said they are not listed on any online booking sites (which is very strange because as I write this review I can see booking options on MMT, goibibo, hotels, Agoda etc). Anyway Goibibo refunded the whole amount and we had to make fresh reservations then and there. The dinner options were very limited in the restaurant. They had no cultural experiences, no events in the evening for guests. The rooms are nice and the feel of the property is good but other than this, it is very average. The staff did not seem very smart and ready to

This hotel is the most pleasant surprise. Situated on 12 acres with spectacular views , magnificent hand carved architectural details , near Tiger Nest and with impeccable service it would be my first choice in Bhutan. It is over seen by Brent Hyde , manager for 16 years, who is on the floor all the time making sure each guest's needs are met.
During COVID the entire hotel was renovated . The rooms are spacious and well appointed. You can stay in the main building or in one of the town house's junior suites ,a short walk from the main building through beautifully maintained gardens.
The Spa was particularly delightful and very reasonably priced.

I have had the pleasure to stay at Zhiwa Ling Heritage Hotel on many occasions over the past decade. It is one of my favorite hotels anywhere. Where to start, the property is spectacular, inspired by traditional Bhutanese architecture, the main structure and surrounding buildings are exquisite. The property is vast, with beautiful landscaping and cottages dotted around the property, great place to wander and enjoy the grounds. The newly renovated rooms are large, comfortable and well appointed. Staff are gracious, friendly and helpful. The manager, Mr. Brent Hyde is delightful. The food (and this my only negative) ranges from good to superb, but I feel in such a property is should always be superb. However this is minor quibble and will not keep me from returning to this remarkable and unique hotel.

Zhiwa Ling Heritage Hotel highly recommend this wonderful hotel. It was voted by Condé Nast as one of the top 12 hotels in Asia! Well deserved. It’s just 10-minute drive from Paro International Airport. This 5-star hotel is gorgeous with Bhutanese architecture oozing out of every corner, and warm, soft interiors, blazing fire in the bar, it is great. The atmosphere is so soothing…a harmonious blend of heritage, tradition and elegance! First rate.

Large grounds and gardens to stroll around is just lovely including the small stream. Great views of the surrounding mountains, there is the main building and multiple stone buildings again all with ornate woodwork. Just
4 km from the Paro Taktsang Tiger’s Nest, a Bhutan icon.

Good breakfast, two restaurants, bars and a spa, a teahouse and a Buddhist altar.

Meditation classes and yoga too (need to book in advance).

A good place to start and finish our holiday to Bhutan! We want to return soon!
