One of the roughest roads I've been on to get there, but worth it. A little worn, but the staff makes up for any wear with attentiveness and helpfullness. Food is good, not great. Atmosphere is fabulous. This is not a 4 star resort. This is a wonderful getaway spot. Great massage, pool gets busloads every day to hang out...

Plan to stay for a while. There are horseback rides, Zip-line tours, and the spa/mud bath, pools to enjoy. Lots of wildlife, and nice separate duplex bungalows with patios to sit on and just enjoy the views. Resort covers a lot of territory so be prepared to walk lots if you want to explore. A tranquil place well worth the...

This was the best hotel that we stayed in during a 2 week vacation in Costa Rica. Located at the end of a very bumpy gravel road and there is nothing around so the resort is isolated. Very nice peaceful setting and helpful staff. Not a plastic US style hotel! Separate bungalows located in nicely landscaped property. Service can be...

We stayed four nights from Feb 05/14. The deluxe room was wonderful, with a patio. Very private and quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful. I went on a horse riding tour of the forest, with excellent guide Oscar, and saw many birds and animals, including Spider Monkeys. Recommended.

We booked this hotel for two nights at $343 a night to cap off our vacation. Resort looked great. But when I called they could not find our reservation. booking.com and Priceline confirmed the reservation but hotel didn't have it. Come to find out they were overbooked. However there are at least 3 sites still booking rooms for the same...

The scenery at Borinquen is second to none, and the setting being on a working estate makes it a truly unique experience. Our separate bungalow was well appointed, but was showing signs of wear and distress. The outside light was non-functional (I repaired it enough so we could enjoy the stunning views from our balcony) and the bathroom was infested...

Hotel, secluded is its own large natural valley, is conveniently close to Liberia airport and beach hotels, which is a mixed blessing. We spent three nights in Casita or “Junior Suite #4” up on the hill of the hotel. We think the privacy of these units is worth the rate premium. They are roomy with beautiful furnishings, huge showers, nice...

I have made several repeat trips to Costa Rica since 2010. Our last adventure in 2013 brought us to Borinquen! Nestled in the foothills next to Rincon del Vieja National Park. We stayed in this resort a couple of days hoping to hike in the national park but the park trails were closed due to Volcanic Activity. Instead we rode...

So after a long trek from Tamarindo up to Borinquen, my husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing and romantic last 2 nights in CR. The property is beautiful with great landscaping and wildlife around (we saw howlers, spider monkeys, iguanas, exotic birds). However, as we settled into our bungalow deluxe I found there was zero hot water...

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we spent one week at the Borinquen and another on the ocean. I chose the Borinquen mostly based on reviews from this site and we were not disappointed. Our stay was in December and we rented a junior suite, which is totally worth the money for the views and the privacy....
