Detailed Reviews
Great location, close to a beach and restaurants. The room was very clean. Our room had a great view from the balcony. Check-in and check-out were handled with the front desk quickly with no issues. Good sized refrigerator in the room which actually worked well. No noise issues, but we stayed overnight on a Tuesday and the hotel was not very crowded. You are given a verbal list of "rules" upon check in which seemed a little strange.
Down side was the spa and other common areas were shutdown supposedly due to COVID concerns.
Fairly expensive, but this area is not known for very many budget friendly hotels. I would rate the value as a 7 on a scale of 0-10.

We checked in here and our room was ready right away. We stayed in a two queen room with a vaulted ceiling and a balcony that overlooked the bay. Our room was clean, but not fancy by any means. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. The property had some minor deferred maintenance, things like the screen door was off the track. These were all minor issues and did not detract from our stay. For the price the Hotel provided good value. We mentioned the screen door to the maintenance man who was very nice as we were checking out. This hotel is dog friendly, so maybe next time we will bring our Lab with us.

It has a great location and beautiful views but this place needs updating bad! Our tv didn’t work, WiFi was SO SLOW, our wall unit (fan) didn’t work either. It was clean but definitely not worth another stay or the $$$. I won’t be recommending this motel to anyone.

Management lacks common sense. No room cleaning, no late check outs? Not what we expect from small down hotel. I wanted to write a good review about this place but sorry not this time. Local resident evacuated due to fire & spent over $1200 at their property and surprised when they would not permit a late check out on last day (1pm?) Really? Any reputable hotel would allow a late check out especially under the circumstances. The manager acknowledged that the hotel room could not be used for at least 24-48 hours anyway due to covid restriction. But greed took over and they charged us for a FULL DAY (nearly $200 more). Not going back to this rogue hotel with so many better options in Bodega Bay. Why support this place if they don't support the locals?

We came down for a trip with our family and made reservations for a queen bed but then our young son asked if he could have a roll away instead of sleeping with us so I called to ask. The front desk owner Karen is horribly rude and as soon as I said we wanted to ask about a roll away she said she had to cancel our reservation because she didn’t trust that we only had two adults and a 5 year old. She wouldn’t let me speak and told me I could Turin my car around. If you are looking for a place to stay with pets children or even elderly do not stay here. If you ask her any questions about the accommodations she will say you are a nuisance and she has “other costumers that will pay her more money without a hassle”. I would highly recommend going to another hotel.

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your trip. We have had the opportunity to host many guests with pets, who are elderly and have children. They have made the appropriate arrangements with us prior to arriving at the hotel. We apologize if this was not clarified during our multiple correspondences with you.

I should have read all the negative reviews before booking. The hotel itself is fine. It's a solid location and the town of Bodega Bay is lovely.
The main issue I had was with the hotel not honoring the online rate I booked. Here's the backstory. In June 2021, my wife and I booked a two night stay at this hotel (for a friend's wedding in the area). We found a great rate online of $126 per night. I got an email confirmation confirming this. A few months later, I got an email from the hotel informing me that I had booked a pet-friendly room and offering me an upgrade to nicer room. The upgraded room would have cost $250 per night, so I declined and asked to stay in the current room.
Fast forward to November. A few hours before we were supposed to check-in, I received an email from the hotel, but they had changed the room rate to the $250 per night. I emailed back and attached my original booking. But no luck.
After a brief phone call with the hotel, the person on the phone informed me that they never offered the original rate that I had booked. She refused to acknowledge my original booking (despite the emails I forward to her) and said he could stay elsewhere if we didn't want to pay the higher rate.
I couldn't believe that a hotel wouldn't honor the rate from the online booking?!
Since we had already flown across the country and were in our rental car on our way to the hotel, I wasn't able to find another hotel on such short notice, so we ended up keeping our booking.
In any case, the hotel stay itself was totally fine, but this was definitely some shady business practices, and I would advise people to stay somewhere else.

+1
I want to be generous, so here are some pluses:
1. Bay view but obstructed by power lines.
2. Good free wifi
3. Vaulted ceiling room, enough space for 2 adults for 2 night weekend stay. But tiny heater could not heat the room adequately.
4. Topiary landscaping to detract from the motel experience (regardless of the “suites” in the name). Not aware of what constitutes a “suite” or how many there are.
Here are my observations during our weekend stay:
1. 30+ year old motel with dated furnishings. If it ain’t broke don’t replace/update it, I presume.
2. Thin walls where outside conversations and toddlers can be heard at night/early morning.
3. Ants by the desk, so careful using the microwave or coffee maker.
4. Due to COVID, no maid service, no pool, no continental breakfast. Rate should reflect minimized/cancelled services. Staff are masked, but guests not so much, as I noticed.
5. Plastic cups in the bathroom. Slow drain in bath and sink. Cheap and tiny bath amenities, so bring shampoo, body wash for a multi-day stay.
6. Inadequate designated disabled parking spaces. Only 2 DP spots, but one is reserved for their ADA room, regardless if guest has DP plate/placard or not.
7. No EV chargers, but of course.
8. At a weekend rate of $309/night, for a few $ more, there are alternatives in the area for a more satisfying/upscale experience.
9. Not sure how booking.com can rate this motel with 3 stars, when BB Lodge next door has 4 stars. If this place was realistically rated 2 star, I would’ve booked elsewhere and had a better hotel review to share.
If you want an 80s motel experience, minimum amenities, and willing to pay $300+/night, then this is the place to stay.

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Bodega Bay and for your feedback. I would like to address a few of your comments: - We are following COVID protocol as it pertains to our spa and housekeeping services and our rates are competitive in the marketplace - We are not offering breakfast at this time but do encourage you to support the restaurants in our small community, who have all struggled through the pandemic. Some of them are offering specials to our guests. I trust you enjoy your future travels.

Wow...don't believe the website or the travel sites. This place advertised a hot tub and pool (neither in working order) rooms are dated and exterior is poorly kept. Had some business calls on day of checkout so asked for a late checkout at 1, lady at counter told me that was not possible as the housekeeping staff needed time (understood!) and then went on to explain that housekeeping went to lunch from 12-1 and then started cleaning rooms so they need the 3 hour window. I said "perfect" I'll be out by 1! Nope....noon is all she could do. Lots of better properties in the area for a more reasonable price.

We sincerely apologize that you did not agree with our policies. We kindly tried to explain that we had a number of rooms to clean and less than a four-hour window to complete them. However, I suggest checking your voice mail, although we did have a lot of check-outs, from an event weekend, which makes it very hard to give guests a check-out after noon. We did leave you a voicemail stating that we would be happy to allow you to use another room that was already clean, so that we could clean your room, which had a reservation that day. We do state that our spa is closed, and we have never had a pool so that statement is incorrect, it is noted on the confirmation, arrival letter sent night before your reservation, and the registration letter and all websites.

Booked our stay online. Pictures deceive. I’m sure this property had its day and I believe it has future potential. However now is not the time to book a stay at the current price point. The room had been somewhat updated but still needs work. The tub could use CLR and the carpet was not vacuumed. The place is dog friendly but as soon as we went in the room my dog found a plastic cap from I don’t know what and then found gummies. The view is awesome but the deck had standing water and we couldn’t use it. The hot tub is unusable and the parking lot is run over with vegetation. Even the large property road sign is blown down and still on the ground. I need to mention the parking lot was empty. We were the only guests.
I have to say the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. I’m picky about my bed so that says something. However if this property is going to make it they need to clean better and charge less during the off season. As an example, we came from the Cambria Pines Lodge which is a beautiful property and the nightly rate was comparable. Next time I’ll stay another night in Cambria.

Used to be a great place. Came with many friends, family, grandkids etc. Used to have full breakfast and hot tub, both gone, but still advertised on their phone line. Door sticks (You have to empty your hands to push it open, toilets hardly flush, hot water takes forever to come to sink or shower, coffee in room the cheapest possible, hole in outside balcony that chair leg fits into, no housekeeping service at all (advertised as limited), tattered upholstery on soft furniture, no streaming on TV. Worst yet: dirty towels and broken hair dryer in room, which was not a big deal in and of itself, but when I called to get help, the receptionist/manager put me on hold twice, hung up on me, when I called back a second time, she yelled at me accusing me of yelling at her, while I remained silent, and then hung up on me a second time. She refunded me $22 dollars for that verbal abuse and sent me an email telling me not to yell at her employees. Love Bodega Bay and have already found a new place to stay next time.

I am not sure. You 100% don't need a/c there. It's either cool or cold. Bodega Bay is the best place on Earth. If it's your first time there, I'll be happy to share my experience
The manager said sorry for rough towels but we did not notice. Not to updated but I think they are trying.
