This collection of local homes arranged around the old hotel grounds is quaint, graceful and has its own eco-system! So fitting to be in Berkeley! Well maintained and beginning to show its age. Rooms are much better than a dorm but not quite a Residence Inn. Breakfast is served at a late 7:30 and a good selection. Like living on...

The location is not perfect but acceptable. The place is shabby, run down, and smelly. Rooms are small and dilapidated. Carpets are filthy. bathrooms are rather primitive (a la motel-6). The reception staff is rude and unhelpful.

Cute little place but is getting pretty tired. Nice little patios outside where one can share snacks and wine with friends. Clean but definitely don't expect too much. We could easily walk to the football stadium as we were there for the UW vs Cal football game.

Rose Garden Inn really is charming, the rooms I have stayed in seemed to have been freshly painted, the décor is very nice, the beds are outstanding. Everything was clean and comfortable. It is amazing to have a true patio and garden in this part of Berkeley.

Charming historic means brown streaks on the wall by the sink, pealing paint in the closet, a bulb with no shade, and a phone that does not work. On the positive side, the room seemed clean and the gas fire place worked as did the TV. I probably would never stay here again despite the price, which is not bad...

every thing is cheap: 1) internet times out from time to time; the slowest internet 2) not a table to work; 3) phone and TV not work; 4) noisy, you can hear what your neighbor doing 5) limited parking, have to street park

I stayed on the main building and while things were old and the floors were not leveled and some doors were not well hinged, the overall feeling was good and the place was nice. Toilets are well equipped and rooms are well lit. There are lots of space to work downstairs in the main area (the dining room for breakfast...

Stayed in two rooms, each a king and twin bed, a vast amount of space, fireplaces, kitchenettes, etc. Buildings are old and somewhat in disrepair but overall provide a very charming experience. Rooms are very luxurious, though again the furnishings are dated - while charming, they have some drawbacks after extended use, such as a musty odor and dustiness. Plumbing...

In a beautiful setting this place is relatively inexpensive. The rooms are scattered through the property with nice plantings. Breakfast is adequate. Our only complaints are related to the heating, cooling and room condition. The heating system in our room was a single unit that blew hot air in the room with manual thermostat that did not indicate the temperature....

Although the hotel could do with updating as it looked a tired we had a pleasant 4 night's there. Our room was large and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was simple and all we needed. The garden is lovely, although it was raining most of the time we were there! It is in a quiet residential...
