I was very disappointed with our stay at the lodge. It desperately needs a renovation. I like a rustic atmosphere but the room was in very bad shape. The fuse kept blowing, we had very little light to see, mildew was in the shower, ceiling was sagging, window wouldn't shut, blinds weren't long enough for the windows, baseboard head was...

They really shouldn't charge so much even on a weekend due to how outdated the lodge and rooms are. It was clean, definitely no amenities, for the price and restaurant wasn't open either, no coffee, no blow dryer, tv remote control worn out, shower door needs work, carpets are really worn, dirty looking. Only 1 Old elevator is creepy. I...

In the summer when the snow is gone there's Lake Alpine just up the road about 5 miles. Formally known as Mt. Reba ski park this is and awesome area to ski in the snow gets around 4 to 5 feet deep and always has fresh powder. It has a nice lodge with a warm fire and hot coco for...

Just come back from a great few days in Bear Valley. No traffic, great conditions, no lines, everything cheaper than most Tahoe resorts ... Stayed at the Lodge and it's certainly rustic and quaint... don't expect modern and fancy and you'll be pleasantly surprised by having everything you need all at hand. I must also say that the staff there...

My brother and I (and sometimes another brother) have been coming here for around 19 years or longer now. Yes, there are many things that people used to going to Tahoe or Aspen are not going to like, but it is what it is. A place to sleep and a great place to meet all the locals who keep the...

The Bear Vally Lodge is approaching being open for 50 years, I was first there as a kid shortly after it had opened. The Lodge hasn't had any major renovations since it was built and it is tired. There are plans on display for a remodel, but I was told that the plans had been hanging on the wall for...

We stayed at the Lodge for several days last week while we were under mandatory evacuation from our home in the Sierra Foothills due to a large forest fire. The hotel is an old structure which is showing its age and is in need of renovation. That said, the rooms are fairly large and are clean. The hotel has many...

Old, smelly, dirty and not inexpensive. This place was built in 1967 and is very dated. The entire place has a bit of a musty odor. There was mildew and what could have been mold in the ceiling of the shower, the drywall tape was literally coming down, the shower floor was so dirty that my gal insisted on wearing...

We stayed at Bear Valley Lodge last night as part of a package deal that included tickets to the Bear Valley Music Fest. Fourth floor corner room was quiet, clean, and bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. This facility is nearly 50 years old and there are parts of facility that show their age (like pretty funky elevator...

My Husband and I were driving from Yosemite to South Lake Tahoe and drove through Bear Valley. There was quite a hard snow fall and the road was closed so we ended up staying there the night. We arrived late and no one was about but the staff in the bar next door were really helpful in calling the Manager...
