The Padre is quite a stunning place to stay in Bakersfield. The architecture, the food, the service are all very high quality. And the staff is very friendly and helpful as well. I love to stay at the Padre whenever my travels bring me through Bakersfield.

We stayed here on a quick overnight & was very impressed. We definitely wish the bar & resturant was open, but COVID crushed those dreams. We stayed in the Hancho Suite, which was great for the price & the use of the Jacuzzi tub after a 5 hiur drive was perfect!! The inly complaint we had was the temperature in the room only cooled down 10 degrees from 81 through out the entire night, which made the room stuffy.
We definitely plan to make this a regular stop on our drives from Northern to Southern California.
Definitely recommend this cute, boutique hotel & I can only imagine how much better it will be when everything reopens.

This is definitely the place to stay when in Bakersfield. I went to train some employees for a company I work for and was very pleasantly surprised! The Hotel is updated, has a cool bar and a high end restaurant there. They also have a little cafe with quick fresh food. The location is extremely safe and you can walk to the best voted sushi restaurant in town ,as well as many other cool spots. The service is exceptional ,before even checking in they sent a text to see if I needed anything upon my arrival and every person that works there is truly nice .This is the place to stay when in Bakersfield!!!!!!!

To start, I am a Bakersfield resident and booked the Padre Hotel for a staycation. The hotel room was fine (the shower handle did fall off in my hand) but the customer service and valet need serious attention. When I received my car from the valet my fiance noticed my rim (a matte black) had been scratched and my tire had a mark on it as if it had run into a curb. I had only had this car for a month and these marks were definitely not there prior to our stay with the Padre. The issue was brought up to the front desk and we were told "well what do you want me to do about it." The morning at checkout we brought up the issue once again and a representative (possibly the weekend manager) said she would look into this and contact me within the next week. I have still not received a call and have contacted them via email with no response. The valet charges weren't even removed from our bill for the damage they caused. Completely disappointed with my experience at the Padre Hotel and would not recommend a stay at this location. If you need a downtown location try the Marriott so you can self-park and not have your vehicle damaged.

The room (Head honcho ) was as described but felt a little bit smaller and not as romantic as the pictures showen, the hotel failed to have strawberries and champagne with a note that I had prearranged before arrival. I had to email them that I never got it and then they called me and they did fix the problem while we were out of the room but it still never came with a note that I requested. I was told that chocolate covered strawberries start at $25 and champagne starts at $20 and then I was told that they only had one kind of champagne left so I was assuming that it was $20 but it was $55 and nobody ever confirmed with me what I would be paying. Not a problem but I would assume I would have been confirmed a total at some point before delivery. Front desk is very friendly and fast valet parking was great I only use the valet parking because it was hard to understand where I could park for the night. Room service was good about bringing water at like two in the morning very quick very friendly. I give it a 7 out of 10

The Padre Hotel is unique because, it looks old from the outside and it is and in downtown Bakersfield, but inside is new and modern. There is an odd element to the room we stayed in - the large smoking tub was removed in the renovations, however when it was replaced with a nice sleek shower the glass was left facing the room. So when a person is lying in bed or around the room, you can watch the person in the shower. There is a curtain, but it is see through. This is the only reason I took 1 star away. Bed and pillows were comfortable.

We were recommended to stay here by a work associate & were happy we did. We stayed there for their soft reopening in May 2020 from COVID, and even with the restaurant & bar closed, the place was gorgeous. Check in was easy & we stayed in the Hancho Suite, which was appropriately priced for that size of room & Jacuzzi tub.
The only complaint we had about the hotel was, when we arrived to our room, the temperature was 81 degrees and even with the air set at 65, running all night, it cooled down to 71, which was still a little stuffy for us. Other than that, we have planned to make this a regular stop between North & Southern California trips. My husband & I are looking forward to hanging out at their bars when they reopen.

We stayed in a Head Honcho (?) suite. Clumsy due to a few stains and chipped/pealing surfaces and Luxury due to linens, layout, materials and extras provided (for a fee). This particular room’s tub is delightful. The guest experience was clearly thought through in its design, and the room was quiet.

The manager and front desk staff were accommodating and helpful. We were granted a late checkout without incident. Our check-in was a bit crunchy as we arrived in two cars and the valet was simultaneously helping a group of wedding party goers who were leaving at the same time.

The Padre has a modest stretch of curb and is ill equipped to handle multiple guests at once. Regarding parking, you will either pay the Padre to park your car (15/night) use the public parking garage nearby (10/night) or find street parking as the Padre has no guest lot—a bit of a pain/hassle

The Padre is recommended if the price point isn’t a huge stretch.

Recently my daughters and I had an overnight staycation. Played cards, ordered room service and enjoyed each other'scompany. The bed was super comfy and the jacuzzi tub a delight. Was not happy to find a pile of toe nails on the outer edge of the tib next to the wall. I can see where they could have been overlooked during cleaning. I always bring disinfectant wipes on any stay in any hotel and wipe off all bathroom and eating areas. Love the staff and the lovely view of tge sunrise from the 6th floor east facing rooms.

No mask mandate for guests, although the front desk staff wore masks. The windows DO NOT open for ventilationthe elevator, as well as the stairwells, appear to be cleaned less than once a day, and not very thoroughly. The corners and ceilings and light fixtures in the Farmers Daughter Suite that I stayed in were very dirty and there was a dead bug of some kind just laying there in the light fixture. Around the back of the toilet also was not clean, thus, not sanitized. I hope that answers your question. I would like to also add, for the record, that I was not only dissatisfied with this hotel stay, but I was downright disgusted.
