Quintessence is a jewel. The hotel itself is like a museum - full of Caribbean art. The rooms are great. The service was as good as it gets. The breakfasts were even better than that. The lunches and dinners were quite good. I truly can’t say enough about the hotel. This is a tiny hotel. There are 12 rooms. It was never close to full when we were there. We would often be the only people on the beach or at the pool. It’s great to have plenty of room and not worry about getting a chaise but it is nice to have other people there who you can talk to. Long Beach is also worth discussing. It is very narrow so that they can only fit one row of lounge chairs. It is not very long and we like to walk beaches end to end each day to get some exercise. Here you can go over some rocky terrain (at two points) to have a short walk. A long walk here is just not going to happen. The hotel is on the west side of the island. It is a short walk to Mead’s Bay where you can go for a nice walk and where there are several nice restaurants. It is close to most of the great restaurants on the island.

Hotel's Favourite
After visiting Anguilla more than 6 times in 12 years, it had been 10 years since we had been back (because of the hurricane and then COVID). We were so excited to return to Anguilla AND to so excited to stay at a new Relais and Chateau property there - and the Quintessence did not disappoint!! Let me say from the outset that the attention to detail is simply remarkable - not only are the rooms spacious and lovely, they are impeccably cared for and every detail is just perfect and so upscale. I mean even the subtlest of details — so for example, the pens in the room are high quality, the toilet paper and tissues are soft, this is the kind of attention to detail to which I am referring. We loved our room - the Blain premium luxury suite. It was the room recommended to me by Merla when I called to inquire - and it was indeed what we were looking for! The Blain room is the second floor, which is so nice and private, especially the terrace which I enjoyed every morning with my coffee. Overall, the room was very spacious and comfortable - and lots of space to store our things as well as to relax. We loved the large bedroom and the very spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding luxurious. We also really liked the separate seating area with a closed door. So many towels and so soft and large… I love large soft towels. The toiletries plentiful and also not skimped on - even the Q-tips. The AC works very well (maybe too well!) and independent in each room (which is also a very nice feature). Housekeeping comes twice daily and seems to be a full service each time - not once did housekeeping miss anything - our room was always perfect. When we arrived, we asked for a small fridge (to store some medicine) and they brought it within minutes. We had an extremely minor issue with the sink - and they fixed it within 30 minutes. Housekeeping indeed outstanding and very efficient. And also very friendly and nice. We loved the beach, which is very private and only a few chairs and umbrellas - plenty for the hotel guests though. (the beach is a few short steps from the property). We had lunch at beach twice - and nice drinks as well. The beach service was outstanding by Kerin and others. We dined at the hotel restaurant once - again excellent service. Especially the Sommelier - who also told us all about the island!! And his favorite local spots. A few times, we came back after dinner to have drinks at the bar - and Devin - the bar tender told us about more great places, which is how we learned about Ocean Echo - one of our favorite beach and lunch experiences. The hotel grounds are impeccable and just beautiful as well - and again so perfectly cared for. Such incredible attention to detail. I spent a morning at the pool when my husband was golfing - it is beautiful and comfortable. I also need to talk about the exceptional service — each and every member of the team is totally geared to provide exceptional service — We experienced such amazing service before and during our stay. One example is how our car died (!) - and we just went off to the beach and when we got back they had it fixed already. I need to say that we did not use the car rental the hotel had recommended… we used our own budget rental … I recommend taking the hotel’s recommended car rental so you do not have such an experience. Other examples of exceptional service - Simone booked all of our dining requests both for lunch and dinner AND confirmed them! As well as golf, Spa, etc. And Patricia prepared our entry documents from Saint Martin. They even called us to make sure we have our COVID tests done - All of these details they had under control. Truly exceptional service…. My husband golfed at Aurora - which is expensive and challenging in the wind, but he enjoyed it. I enjoyed the SPA with Marissa - who provided exceptional service for my massage and facial. A few words about Anguilla … what a special place… the people are warm and friendly and so genuinely interested in making sure their visitors enjoy their island while at the same time not loosing the identify of the island - this is what we love so much about Anguilla and what keeps us coming back. We also enjoyed (and highly recommend) …. Ocean’s Echo - what a fantastic beach lunch - delicious and amazing Rumzie’s!!! Nat’s place on Savannah bay - we still love this place!! Such a beautiful and untouched - still… Shoal’s bay east - - see Madearium and Ray de Man - this is still one of our favorite places to be …. The beach is standing and they make everyone feel so special and welcome. Tasty’s - what can I say - a legend… Bankie Banks at the Dune - talking about legends… We love this place and we will be back!!

I honestly had no expectations for this hotel. I just knew that I did not want to stay in one of the large hotels. My husband and I prefer small intimate boutique hotels. Q hotel was everything we love and more. The in room amenities were amazing and well thought out. From black wash clothes for makeup removal to bug spray wipes and even natural locally made bug spray. Our room was beautifully decorated. There was an amazing welcome spread of food and champagne on arrival. The hotel had just reopened for the season so it was not busy at all. We stayed for 4 night and 3 we were the only guests staying there. The beach is small but quiet (except for the construction going on at the next property). Perfect for us considering we do o like crowds. The staff went above and beyond. They make you feel welcome and want to make sure you have everything you need. From the perfect drink at the bar to making sure I had iced tea every morning. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with lush furniture and very eclectic artwork that just works. The grounds are spectacular as well. We rented a car and drove to different beaches everyday as well as ventured out for lunch and dinner. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent but we wanted to experience the what the island had to offer - Blanchard’s is a must!!! Overall we would definitely stay here again. After seeing the bigger hotels on the island we knew we made the right choice. The staff and surroundings made us feel as if we were staying in a friends machine for the week - it was that relaxing and comfortable!

My husband planned a couple days get away for my birthday at the property. Before we had even left, Patrica had ensured we had dinner reservations and a planned itinerary. Upon on arrival, Simone also worked very hard to ensure we were happy and aware of all of our plans. The Luxury resort is only 9 bedrooms which allows for a peacefully and relaxing time away. Infinity pool overlooks the gardens and has views of the ocean. Dinner at Julian's was amazing. We ended up with a private birthday dinner on the Chess Board and decided to dine there again on our last evening. Breakfast each morning was made to order and there was no lack in choices. We were treated to Gelato in the afternoon at the Pool. Convenient location in Long Bay allowed for evening ventures to see Omalie 360 playing at The Four Season lounge or Savy Beach club.

If you are looking for quiet this is a great hotel! The rooms were nice. Mosquitoes were definitely a problem in our room and on the property. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is wonderful. Most of the staff is pleasant and attentive. It is conveniently located on the west end of the island. Has a small beach that you can walk each day and watch sunset from each night. This property is set back from the beach a bit, but still just a walk down to the beach. There is some elevation to the property which could make walking to the beach and back challenging for some. If you are looking for a lively atmosphere, this is not the property for you. If you like quiet and can deal with mosquitoes, then this is a great property for you.

Response from Q Hotel Marketing, Marketing at Quintessence Hotel
Responded 7 Jun 2022
Hi Nettie, I want to thank you for choosing Q Hotel. There are quite a few options of places to stay on Anguilla so we were honored that you chose to stay with us. I am sorry to hear about your experience with the mosquitos. Though we fog the property and ensure there are no pools of water, unfortunately this time of year does make it a it more challenges to keep them at bay. We hope that this will not deter you from returning to see us soon.

Merla and her team went WAY above and beyond to prepare one of the newly built rooms well before it was scheduled to be released into circulation. They must have worked long hours to have this spectacular room ready for our arrival considering we only booked last minute. The staff and service was well above what we expected even from a Relais & Chateaux property. A very secluded small hotel with great gym and Sauna (thank you)!! easily access other restaurants on the island which made the entire experience just right for some quiet time plus fun at dinners. Thanks to everyone on the property. Planning a milestone Birthday with a large family in the next few years for this space. Thank you. Adam and Jacqueline - Toronto Canada

We were lucky enough to stay at Quintessence before the holidays in December We took a pleasant boat ride over from St. Martin and a short (10 mins?) drive to the resort. There is a spectacular gallery before you get to the main building which I would highly recommend. You could, and we did, spend days just looking through all of the art, amazing. The private beach is as good as it gets with a very attentive staff.....and an amazing ability to Quench your thirst! We bobbed around in the ocean for hours, which we never do..... As a craftsman, I was in awe of the materials, fixtures and finishes. This place was designed with every detail in mind. The rooms are very private with balconies overlooking the pool and ocean, gorgeous landscaping. Another detail worth noting is the quality of the mattress and linens. They spared no expense here, seriously pleasant zzzzzzzz’s The service was top notch. The food was amazing. The staff took care of all of our needs with a smile and always addressed us by our names which is a small thing but a nice personal touch. It is tough to put in to words the beauty of the Q so I would recommend experiencing it first hand. We hated to leave but we can’t wait to go back!

Quintessence Hotel is the most exquisite hotel I’ve ever stayed! From the moment you walk in you’re greeted with the most gracious staff. We were a party of 5 that enjoyed every amenity that Q offered! Our dining experience at Julian’s restaurant was amazing. The staff was so attentive when we went to the pool and beach. The art gallery and gift shop offer beautiful souvenirs of the island. If you’re looking for a one of a kind experience Q Hotel needs to be your go to!

We stayed for 6 nights at the Q. Lovely boutique hotel, quiet and peaceful. Rooms are large and all details of luxury have been thought of, from Frette linens to Hastens beds. The breakfast was delicious as well. Service is six star remnicent of the Aman hotels, high staff to guest ratio and personalized. You have a white sand beach basically to yourself!
