Three friends and I stayed here ,yes its an old building, and it's about to be refurbished, great hospitality, bedding clean comfortable beds breakfast very tasty. This place is very central and has a great atmosphere, thanks to Alex Kenny the barman and his wife who served us breakfast every morning. Will definitely be back .

I'll start with this: if you're looking for a pristine, modern hotel, the Royal is not the right choice for you. Keep in mind that Rabbie Burns stayed here in 1787! It's an old building with worn, creaky stairs and skeleton-key locks on its doors. The entire ground floor is a pub, so the rooms are all up one or...

Tired run down bedding clean but the bed was not comfortable. Hot water brown like tea colour very very hot. Shower I would not stand in it with boots on; didn't look inviting. Breakfast looked tasty and it was....top marks rewarded here. The couple who run the hotel nice people coming up to retirement wishing them happy retirement. Would I...

Stayed here for one overnight to celebrate a local friends birthday. Hotel in good location. Right in centre but in bad need of upgrading. It is obvious no work or improvements have been made in a long time. The place was clean though as we're the rooms , so all credit to staff. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. I...

This hotel is up for sale, the bathroom was dirty, toilet did not flush properly. The place is very dated and tired. Although the staff were nice and friendly I don't think I will be recommending it to anyone. Only think positive I could say was the bed was comfy.

This hotel is located in the centre of Jedburgh, close to shops, pubs and restaurants. Staff are very friendly. Old place. Rooms are a good size, but need improvements. Expensive for what you get. Property has its own bar. Ok to stay for 1-2 nights.

The hotel was easy to find with good parking space, the room was good clean and tidy with TV and WiFi which we thought was good. The view was a side look at Jedburgh abbey which was nice. The staff were extremely friendly, showed us to our room and left us to do what we wanted. The breakfast was delicious...

We booked the family room at the Royal for an overnight on the way north. The family room is huge with a double and two good size singles - much bigger than some of the chains. It's nothing fancy - could do with a lick of paint here and there - but it makes no claims to being fancy. Breakfast...

Stayed here in after we had been walking St Cuthbert's way and all of our camping gear and clothers were soacked from 2 days of rain. This was the only central hotel that had vacancies. It is in desperate need of a renovation, everywhere, Very old and tired with poor decor. Breakfast was great and staff all seemed very friendly....

Dirty, black mold in shower, shower head fell off, worst matteres ever, smallest TV, no shower gell or shampoo, no papers available, sultry staff when I questioned the £1.50 visa charge, when I mentioned that we were in Jedburgh not Edinburgh or London or anywhere with expensive rates that £ 80 was exsesive she would then not talk to me....
