Never been to this area before...loved it. The hotel has all the quaint features with a contemporary twist! Staff are so friendly and approachable. Food to die for. On approaching the hotel at first I thought...oh dear an off the street building... But as the old saying goes...never judge a book by its cover. This is a wee treasure hidden... More

Stayed here with my Mum and sister for a few days. Portaferry has a lot of boarded up buildings and closed premised, sad to see. Hotel was busy, it is 1700's, lovely decorated bedrooms. Beds could do with better mattresses. I decided to have a bath on night we arrived but no hot water. When we were leaving 2 days... More

We had not been to this hotel before. We travel extensively so have lots of experience of hotels around the world. This hotel is charming, not too far from home (Belfast); the room was very clean and comfortable, the food delicious (breakfast and dinner) and the staff very attentive. Don't understand how anyone could underrate the hotel - our stay... More

Our special brother requested we go to the Portaferry Hotel for his birthday. He was given a lovely welcome. In the dining room he told the waiter it was his birthday, when his dessert was brought to him the plate was decorated with "Happy Birthday ...... " written in chocolate and a little cake with a candle. It is these... More

Family weekend away we booked for Sunday lunch at the hotel. A party of around 22 adults and children. Staff seemed uninterested and agitated at our arrival. When we ordered we asked could the children get a small roast dinner and were told yes. Orders were taken and starters arrived, good so far (scallops and bacon were really good). As... More

We arrived for the Valentine Weekend DBB deal at The Portaferry Hotel on the Saturday to notice the front window boarded up with planks of wood. On arriving in reception I noticed the decor had slipped somewhat with nails on the walls and pictures apparently missing - which I found quite strange. As part of the deal we were to... More
