Refused check in despite confirmed reservation via Agoda. I had booked the property through Agoda on 14 Nov, received confirmation and a note that they have informed the property. I was charged more than 5K. On the day of check in 19 Nov, I called the property to inform of late check in as we were stuck in traffic on the way back from Sanchi. Was met on the phone with a very unempathetic voice of a lady, she refused to having received a reservation. Refused that she was listed on Agoda. Her exact statement- even if you send me reservation confirmation I can’t do anything as I don’t have room neither do I have your reservation. I had to scramble to book another property whilst on the move.
Could there ever be a better location at Bhopal? I doubt. The picturesque property on Shamla Hill, overlooking the lake is definitely worth experiencing. The walls filled with beautiful paintings and huge aquariums, add to the elegance of the property. The 5 storied building is also home to the Sharma family, the owners. The rooms overlooking the huge water body are tastefully done. The breakfast was enjoyable- Fruits, fresh juice, cereals with milk, toast with condiments, eggs as you like and mouth watering aloo parathas. Can't complain. The dinner could have been a shade better. One of the ACs needed maintenance. Overall a nice experience. And before I forget, the wonderful Mrs. Sharma, the perfect hostess, is always around for a friendly chat.
Ivy suites is an experience in itself. The rooms , the views, the food everything is fantastic and personalized. The owners are very friendly. I stayed there across 2 years and always had a great experience. If you’re thinking of a stay in Bhopal - just book Ivy suites.
Stayed here for 4 days/3 nights for a work-trip, and it was wonderful. The location is great - easily accessible from airport, tourist spots, markets, offices. The views from the lobby & rooms are fab - overlooking a lake. The rooms were comfortable, well furnished and had all basic amenities required. It is a quaint boutique/homestay run by Mr Pramod & Ms Manju, who stay there as well. They have maintained the property beautifully- lush green, clean, adorned with beautiful art pieces & paintings. The hosts are friendly, polite & knowledgeable. They can suggest you the best spots around for shopping, photography, nature walks. Infact, they were super courteous to take the guests around for an early morning walk. If you want privacy, you can sit back in your room, relax & enjoy the views. However, if you like conversations - just step out from your room to the lobby and you'll be in for superb company. Conversations with the hosts and fellow travelers indeed makes the evening vibrant & lively. It is infact one of the best parts about this place! There's no room service. But you can walk upto the kitchen area and ask for tea/coffee/lemonade/biscuits etc anytime. Suggestion, maybe they can introduce a vending machine with snacks. Everyone gathers at the dining area for meals, and dining is fun! Food is homely, menu is fixed. In case you have preferences, you can let them know in advance. For the days that I stayed there - we had alu Paratha, idli, Poha, muffins for breakfast; alongwith basics of eggs, cereals, juices, toast, fruits, jams etc. For dinner there's generally 2 veggies, dal, 1/2 non veg, salad, roti, rice, macaroni, dessert. The food was tasty on all days. The kitchen staff was polite. There are umbrellas, cycles, books available for guests. Most rooms are lake facing. I stayed in 101 and it was quite comfy! The staff would clean the room everyday after I left for office. Everything about this place is fab - the courteous hosts, the views, the location, the green and artistic corners. Recommended for business travelers, solo travelers, elongated city stays. …
I had the most wonderful stay at Ivy Suites. The place is run by Manju and Pramod who are excellent hosts. The property is right by the edge of the lake and the views are blissful. The characteristic feature of this place is how green it is. There are beautifully exotic creepers growing all over the house and all outdoor spaces are covered with plants. The walls are adorned with stunning paintings, all made by their daughter - Tina, a professional artist. The food at Ivy Suites was fantastic. It was homely and light. I would definitely recommend anyone coming to Bhopal to stay here. It is ideally located, walking distance from the Van Vihar national park as well as the museums.
I was pleasantly surprised when I landed last evening at Ivy Suites. The name did not prepare me for the place it is. Lesson: do not judge a place by its name! Manju and Pramod, the wonderful hosts of this 10 room paradise, make you feel at home on arrival. The conversations are free flowing and you can enjoy a drink or two before moving to the dining table where a delicious spread awaits you. The rooms are spacious and have an old world charm. Paintings by their daughter Tina adorn the walls and the plants and books add to the charm. There is no intercom in the rooms, so be prepared to hop over to the front desk or kitchen if you need something. You may want to ask for a lake facing room in advance if staying for more than a day or two. There are no lifts or elevators, so do check this aspect while booking a room with a view. If you are coming from a metro, be prepared to slow down and face ‘disturbing thoughts’ of whether one should consider moving to the beautiful city of Bhopal and to this neighbourhood! Overall, a wonderful stay and hoping to back soon!…
There is no doubt that the location of this place is excellent and it's got great views of the lake. However everything else seems to be falling apart. Rooms are not well maintained and hygiene is just about okay.
It was my first time to stay in this hotel cum home stay— trust me, the only and last good thing in this stay is lake view rest everything is pathetic beat food options (one or two options) , no proper toiletries, dirty water coming from tap for bath, very restricted timing and owner is not at all supportive while providing comforts to guest. Last but not the least, it was pain to make tariff payment through credit card machine( it was not working at all) , no Paytm options. Worst nightmare was to know that all food items consumed during stay does not have decided rate, flat charges was mentioned in the bill. Very unethical — not professional.
Although, it is located next to the Lake, the property is very old and uninviting. There is barely any room to stand near the reception. The reception staff are very polite and helpful. Perhaps, my expectations were very different from the reality.
Are you looking to spend quiet ‘me’ moments amidst nature but at the same time love to have the feel of a home? Do you like to have a quiet sojourn yet long to have great intelligent conversation with enlightened people! If so, then Ivy Suites is the ideal place for you. Located in the heart of the City of Lakes, known as Bhopal, Ivy Suites is a boutique hotel which provides its guests the luxury of staying in a home. The hotel is listed (when you search Google) as a three star for which I cannot vouch but what I can vouch for is that you will not regret staying there, provided you love nature, you need some serious food for your brain as well as some sumptuous one on your plate. The accommodation is the fruit of love and passion of Sharma couple (Pramod Sharma – the boisterous one with whom you can have some real brain storming sessions and his better half Manju Sharma – the quiet but the caring one who would quietly look after your needs while politely exchanging views). The couple has converted their ancestral property into a boutique hotel and opened its doors for guests who love to enjoy heritage grandeur in an informal and ethnic setting. Facing Bhopal Lake, the hotel has 10 rooms – spacious enough to give you your space. Artistically done, the walls all around adorn paintings made by Sharma’s daughter, who is an artist. In between there are also some eye-catching hand-drawn sketches – courtesy - a Japanese traveller who stayed at Ivy Suites to get his inspiration to draw. For plant lovers, Ivy Suite is simply a treat. Everywhere you look, you will find a lush green plant. The hotel does not have a regular restaurant but it does have a dining hall with a big table that can accommodate 12 people. The kitchen serves regular home cooked Indian meal – vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The guests can also order their own choice, if they have any particular dish in mind, but the order has to be placed well in advance to give ample time for necessary purchases and preparations. Evenings are interesting in Ivy Suite. There is no commercial bar but Sharma’s personal bar is open to all. He enjoys his drink and in the same spirit he loves to offer others. The place is lit up with tea-light candles in interesting holders, which keep flickering in every nook and corner, adding a soothing and romantic ambience to an already aesthetically done decor. Generally, all guests have food together which provides each one with an opportunity to meet complete strangers yet indulge with them in free and frank debates. The topics can be anything – from films to politics. Both Pramod and Manju also join the guests at the table and keep the environment vibrant and friendly. The personal touch of the lovely couple will not let you feel that you are in a hotel but it seems like you are visiting an old relative/friend. However, the moment you retire to your room, the quiet environment gives you that desired privacy that you look for in a hotel. …
