Nice place at an isolated location very next to Sanapur lake surrounded by beautiful paddy fields.. Basic facilities inside the hut but its good for those who like to stay basic in nature. Harsha the owner takes good care of the guests.

This resort is surrounded by nature and beauty. Owner and stuff are very polite and well behave. Price are reasonable.
If you are visiting Hampi with family or want to stay in peace then Gowri Resort is for you.
They are going to start Nature Cure Therapy center soon.
Hampi is 4 km away with a ferry or round boat journey from this resort. But there is Sanapur lake just beside and beautiful place.
I wish them all the best.

Gowri resort has lost all its charm now. Owner says his charming cottages with zhoola are all demolished by Hampi authority. Trip advisor should delete this property and start accepting new pictures and new reviews. Owner has no interest in maintenance of property. There is trash every where in the property.
Note this location is not at all suitable for Hampi sight seeing trips. Place is far from main Hampi area.
We stayed one night in tent and 2nd night in sun rise hut.
Tent was missing rubber mats below. Water would have seeped in water if it rained.
Hut need constant maintenance. Window nets had holes in it. There was huge lizard in room. There was dead lizard below bed which also show huts are not cleaned regularly.
Wifi was big lie. Place has no wifi , owner said since everyone has mobile data, no one is asking for Wifi. That is false too.
There are lots of mosquitoes in the area. Carry enough mosquito repellent with you.
There is water stream near by coming out of lake. That is good place of play for kids. Restaurant offers decent meal of chapati, Aloo Paratha and rice. There is one restaurant called 'Devamma Restaurant' in Hanumanahalli , 1km away. We went there for all our food needs.

Location is great.
Rooms very small and beds very uncomfortable. VERY.
Very nice & helpful staff.
Not ideal if you are in Hampi for just two days as it's far away from the temples and the other hotels.
Amazing spot to relax and chill out.
Not ideal if you can't drive. The taxis in the area try to spoil you constantly and trust me, they are relentless.
There is nothing around the guest house so it makes it a bit hard to socialise or interact with other travellers. As always, it depends on what you looking for.
We paid 1000 rupees / £10.
You can get rooms for £2 around the area. Closer to all the atractions!

Howdy :-) we arrived to Gowri resort on March08', as engaged couple, and left it 2 weeks later as a married couple. This place has the most unique aura, natural beauty and simplicity, and even now, after so many years have passed, i'm still going there in my dreams and memories.
Initially after arriving in Hampi (by bus, from goa) we settled in the area that's called "the other side" -> the other side of the river... we stayed there for a day or two, but went looking for a more remote place with cleaner water supply. A short scooter ride later and we've found the most adorable place ever - residing below the reservoir's wall, between lush green rice paddies, we found Gowri Resort - a place that will be in our hearts forever.
That very evening we sat by the fire with Seenu, the owner, over a bottle of Ancnoc12. We told him about our time in Scotland and that we are engaged, so he asked us if we'd like to get married in the traditional ways of their people. We said: "Sure, why not?" ... after which things started happening VERY quickly.
About a week later we found ourself Married, blessed by the gods of the land and the queen of Hampi, with 2 adopting local families and a whole village that has made our celebration it's own. Since our wedding was featured in over 12+ newspapers and more than 3 national TV channels in prime time, we had continued our 6-months trip in India as a married couple / celebrities.
But enough about us, let's speak about the venue: resides near the village of Sanapur, in one of the most beautiful landscapes i've seen in my life, filled with rice paddies, banana orchards and coconut trees, amongst huge surreal rocks, fresh streams and charming lakes. Oh, and there's the evening show - when it starts getting dark, a marvelous dance of fire bugs start, in at least 3 different colors... just magical, truly a place of legends. The resort itself has surly improved since we were there, but even back then it was enough for us - simple huts, Indian food, real people.
Thanks for the most unique experience of our lives. Seenu, Nani and the family - we love you guys, you're in our hearts forever.

We went slightly after high season, and this may be relevant, but we still wish we'd just got to Hampi and stayed at one of the numerous (fairly empty, and cheaper) guest houses at the site. Gowri was really nice - serene and very relaxing - but far, far too remote for practically using as a base to visit Hampi: stay on the Hampi side of the river, because (a) the boat trips add up in price, (b) they only run very limited hours, (c) there's not much life this side of the river and most of all (d) the roads are hell and even on the scooter it's a long way back. On the up side: every form of beautiful wildlife surrounds the guesthouse, and the hosts try to make you welcome much of the time - breakfast each morning even though we were the only, lonely, guests. On the other hand, there was no hot water, unpredictable and lengthy power cuts, and the village you have to pass through to get to Gowri is very poor and can feel a bit hostile. The guy gave us a scooter when we arrived, thankfully, but it couldn't do inclines of more than 1-in-8 uphill, and he charged us at the end for it - this may be a communication issue, but the way he'd offered it hadn't sounded like that.

No AC at the restaurant or rooms. Isolated location away from other facilities, so you're stuck there. God help you if you have no vehicle. Inconsistent statements about when checkout is--at one time, they said '24 hours', but at another time they said 'morning'. If you don't book online, they want to charge Rs 3000--if you look at the place, you'll see it's worth about Rs 500/night, according to my Indian professional accountant advisor. Simply refuse to book for more than that.

I was in Hampi for two days and stayed at the Gowri Resort. The ambience is wonderful. Mr. Shrinivas and his family are very warm and friendly. It is like a home away from home. The food, cooked by the lady of the house herself is lipsmackingly delicious. Not even for a minute did we feel like we were staying at a hotel. Courteous, polite and helpful, the service is very good. The accomodation is not very fancy but it suited our purpose. It is simple and tasteful. As for the location, it is away from the crowded Hampi Island and hence quiet and peaceful. Just behind the hotel is a beautiful lake and loads of rocks if you are interested in rock climbing! I strongly recommend this resort to all.

Yes this is an isolated place. The approach road to property is all good, any four wheeler can go. The hippie island is approx 5 to 6 km where you find good options of restaurants. Hope this helps.
It's not like that pets are not allowed. They themselves have some 2-3 dogs there. So if they see pets from outside I donno how they will react. So better u to be safe. The owner is so friendly guy u can just talk him over the phone and ask if u have any doubts. I have been to this resort many times but never seen somebody getting their pets along with them.
