Great place to stay, they have made Improvements from my stay 3 years ago. However there is no sink and they charge for tissue. I guess the pros out weigh the cons as the private rooms are really cheap.

Great place. It's bit inside but that help u get away from things. They have decent rooms and a lively restaurant. The host sharmila and takur and their son were very welcoming and helped us alot. They have few dogs which makes a good place for animal lovers. There are boulders near by where you can try doing the boulder climbing. Food was great. We really enjoyed our stay..

Laidback with a chilled vibe - that's how I'd describe the Goan Corner! We were lucky to have found reservations here after a brief mix-up, but Sharmila was very understanding and heard me out and gave us a room according to our original booking. She even gave me tips and directions, especially when I told her that I'd be travelling with my sister and mother. The food here is amazing, as is the atmosphere of chill - especially post 5 p.m. where everyone just sits on the chairs outside, talking, listening to music, and reading books while sipping on delicious coffee or a cold beer!

I had been to Goan Corner recently with some friends and I should say it's a beautiful place. The rooms are better than Bobby's , sadly there was not restaurant because of low season. The Host Mr Takur is a helpful Host, And his staff Danny too. The only drawback was that there are quite a lot of Dogs that can really make you go paranoid, Apparently one of the dogs even had a fight with a Cheetah , and the Dog is even Angry with Guest at times which is quite difficult for guests. I hope they will take these dogs away and keep the place Human friendly! But a good place to unwind!

The restaurant at Goan Corner is fantastic, probably one the best in Hampi. The special thali is great value, huge portion and super yummy! There are lots of options and we enjoyed everything we are! There's a climbers community at Goan Corner so good if you're interested in making contacts. The rooms however let the place down. We stayed in the most expensive room as it's as basic as it could possibly be. The floor was unswept and the room was generally dirty - needs a mop and a wash. The mosquito net was also torn in several places. Feel the room is overpriced.

The place has a pretty nice garden and the milkshakes and juices we had were very good, but also overpriced. The staff have an attitude and are not polite at all. The rating reflects our overall experience. What I wrote below did not affect my rating of the restaurant. Went to the island from Hampi. You need to cross the very narrow river with a small boat. The guys running the boats are mean, unfriendly, cheating people. The price the locals pay for the 60 second crossing is 10 rupees per person. For tourists however the prices vary depending on the guy’s mood. They ask 100 rupees per person or 50 rupees, depending on how many foreigners show up. If you complain about the price they say you can wait for the boat to fill up (20 people) and then you can pay 20 rupees, which is still double the price of what the government appointed. It is a price set by the government but from what we heard from locals they have the local police bribed, so they don’t get in trouble. Also, they will charge you double if you have a backpack. If the price is 20 they will charge you 20 but if it’s 50 they will charge you 50 for the backpack. My suggestion: do not pay more than 20 rupees. Threaten to call the police! If all foreigners did that and the police had 20 calls a day, things could possibly eventually change. I will personally also write to UNESCO, because this sort of mafia business is unacceptable. I know it is not a lot of money for us westerners, but it is a matter of principle and we should not be supporting such behavior. A very similar situation is happening in Hampi at the motorbike rental place. They charge 300 rupees per day for the motorbike plus 100 rupees for each liter of gasoline. Just across the river the price is 150 rupees. They are also arrogant and extremely impolite.

This place was a huge disappointment. Although the food was great, the rooms were good value and there were a lot of people to meet and socialise with, we experienced theft at this hostel by the owner. Upon checking out we were given our tab which was completely incorrect. They had added on another 7 items coming to a total of 1260 rupees which they refused to waiver and even threatened to call the police despite them being in the wrong. I kept a personal tab on what we had incase something like this happened. Very unprofessional and zero customer service. The female owner is an absolute rude nightmare as she was screaming at us with lies across the main reception which was highly embarrassing. They also messed up another person's tab whilst we were there and overcharged them with extra items too. Do not book transfers with them also as they overcharged significantly for those also. Would not recommend.

We booked in here after looking at the room as it was the cleanest hostel we had found on hippie Island; Trust me we had checked out quite a few. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We where impressed that although the place felt full they always grated us by name and where happy to give information or help plan. We stayed in a 3 man room with ensuit, a double bed and a single bed, all with mosquito nets. We payed 1400 rupees total per night. It's not spotlessly clean.... but the bathrooms are well looked after and the bed was comfortable and the sheets clean. The shower did go warm... but it was complex to get it to warm up. They also have a restaurant on site that served good food. I would recommend for breakfast but for other meals you can find better priced meals in town. I would definatly recommend staying here to any backpacker. It's a little walk out of the main area but it's easy and although I wouldn't call this a party hostel there where movie screenings at night and there where lots of people. There are some adorable huge great Danes who roam around, gentle giants. I wouldn't recommend trying to stroke them though they do snap if you get tooooo close. There are yoga sessions on site and other things to do. Stay here if you plan on staying on this side of the river.
