Dev Bhoomi is a gorgeous space in the lap of Nature with a stunning view of the Dhauladhar Mountains. The owners, Mr. Ankit and Mr. Samridh were extremely hospitable and made sure our entire stay was a memorable one. The staff was very courteous, including Manish ji at the cafe and Vinay ji . The chef, Mr. Sachin prepared delicious curated Satvic meals for us - I personally loved the fresh vegetables they sourced directly from the farm! We enjoyed bonfires under a full moon and experienced a beautiful flute performance while sunset. The resident dogs were adorable. The rooms were cosy and comfortable. Being a Yoga teacher, I was especially happy to see a neat, clean, well equipped and spacious Yogashala. I enjoyed my practise and felt so refreshed. The nature walks from the property are a must do with some spectacular view points, including a stream running below with the sounds of flowing water. Norbulinka and the Gyuto Monastry are close and we even managed a day in McLeodganj as that too is 45 minutes away. Highly recommended and an ideal stay with family or for a Yoga Retreat, I'm definitely coming back soon! A big thank you for all the warmth and memorable moments.

I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about booking us into a place which seemed so focussed on yoga - given that we were going for the cricket, but I needn't have worried. Dev Bhoomi is basically just an outstanding boutique hotel. It has (maybe 12?) cottages, equipped with very comfortable beds, effective AC and heating, and luxurious bathrooms.
And it is quiet. The frequent traveller to India will know that "quiet" is not something readily to be had anywhere near a city, but Dev Bhoomi achieves it. The place is surrounded by fields, has its own private bit of river. Not a car horn to be heard.
But it is the people which make Dev Bhoomi stand out. Many hotels have enthusiastic staff, but not many have so committed, competent and downright charming employees. And the jewel in this crown is Arvind, the Head Chef, who produces outstanding, varied food every night. The best way that I can describe it is having your own, personal, Michelin-starred chef. He also has charm to burn.
There are two things which you need to understand before you go:
1) Because of its location, your stretch limo is going to struggle to get up the narrow track to the hotel, there is no gravelled sweep drive. Indeed the last 40 metres has to be done on foot along an earthen path.
2) While the cottages are snug, the dining area can be a tad chilly in deepest winter. It has an excellent roof, but the walls are somewhat porous.
Dharamshala is my favourite city in India. Dev Bhoomi is my favourite place to stay in India.

So the property seemed pretty average with the pictures and reviews but I must say pictures doesn't do the justice for the vibe and beauty of the place. We were looking for a hidden getaway yet close to important points as we didnt have a car and once we found this place I was quite spektical of reserving it until I had a word with Ankit, one of the owners of the property, he assured and delivered on my concerns, even assisted us with early check in ( that was really thoughtful). Now the property itself is very pretty with sound of river flowing right next to property. We had wholesome meals here even cooked chef assisted dinner once among the woods in the open, what an experience!! the stay was very pleasant with top notch service and attentious staff, the rooms were modestly comfortable with consideration for every nook and corner you can think of. Would love to visit again and kudos to Ankit and team Dev Bhoomi for a memorable experience.

Well the place is highly over rated. We booked the premium cottages along with a complimentary buffet breakfast and a set meal to avail from either at lunch or at dinner. Thoroughly poor. No views. Some eye poping aerial shots to fool tourists.

What a fantastic place to stay. We were here for the cricket and I’ve never had a nicer walk into the match (albeit quite steep). The tranquility of the cottages and the surrounding countryside was a lovely contrast to the “big town” of Dharamsala. The food here is amazing- there must be at least 100 items on the menu, all of them delicious! Loved being able to put our orders in via WhatsApp and then getting back to have it all ready. Apart from the amazing setting the staff are all fantastic. Without fail friendly and helpful. I particularly loved chef Arvind coming to see that we enjoyed the food every day or doing a special order of banana pancakes.
If you are in the cottages there is a pretty small hot water tank so you need to get quite expert at getting the shampoo and conditioner on and off before it runs out. There is heating in the cottages and they are lovely and cosy with the duvets but when we were there it was cold in the evenings which means in the restaurant or sitting outside so bring coats.

This little stay on our way back from Dharamshala would always remain in my mind. Getting a great, almost touching view of the Dhauladhar Range, in the morning from the little verandah while taking a cup of tea was out of the world. Generally, one gets either mountain or valley to experience the nature; but this property has the dual advantage of getting a touch of both. They have a beautiful rivulet (khad) flowing just by the side of the property and connected by a nice stair. Spending the evening by the side of the stream among the sound of the river and the birds chirping is impossible to forget. What's more the far end of the property is connected with a Poplar plantation and they have a little field there too. This was so refreshing. If you are lucky you could see owls roosting on the Poplar. They are constructing a nice Yoga centre adjoining this field. I think this is also a very nice choice. I would also like emphasize the gastronomic side of the travel. As we are very much foodie, we had an instant love with the farm fresh food. Sachinji and Arvindji were great in filling our food desire unbelievably. I would recommend everybody to taste their Chicken and Mutton Rara and mixed vegetable for sure.

What an amazing place! The view of the mountains is just stunning. This is glamping at its best. Beautiful rooms, good hot water and plenty of bedding. The staff here could not be more friendly and the chef cooked us some amazing food. Sat round the fire pit in the evening and even had a game of cricket with the staff one evening!

We stayed in Dev Bhoomi Farms and Cottages for 4 nights during our family vacation to Dharamsala. Great location if you want to be close to nature. You could hear the sweet sounds of the birds and gentle sound of the perennial river nearby. The river that is accessible from the property is great and safe for kids to play and splash around. Its pretty much a private river access. We were very happy with the experience. The stay in the tent cottages was comfortable. The home-style food throughout our stay was delicious and was good on the stomach as well. Special mention for the paranthas during breakfast, Pasta and other veg dishes. Special thanks to Chef Mr. Arvind who apart from the excellent food he made was very friendly and caring and even shared useful tips for sightseeing. Mr. Akshay who served the food was proactive and provided very good service. Kudos to manager Mr. Ashok who attended to our needs including cab bookings for local sightseeing and was quite hospitable in providing professional service. The private dinners on the lawn was a great idea and quite memorable! The owner Mr. Samrudh was accessible throughout from the time of reservation until we checked out. He provided good information on the place, its history, provided valuable suggestions on places of sightseeing based on our interests. Overall, an excellent place to unwind, refresh in a nature friendly setting with home-style food! Worth repeating!
