We stayed for 2 nights during a tour of north India. Rooms are situated in different buildings along paths leading away from the main house. None of the grandeur of some other hotels but the beds were comfortable, the room clean, tea/coffee making facilities provided and the shower worked fine, as did the heater which was needed at night. The...

We stayed here for two nights on a tour. The room we had was in the main part at the top of the hotel and was lovely in a faded grandeur sort of way. The view from the window was lovely. The wifi worked after a fashion. Dinner was a fixed menu and was very nice in a Raj/school inner/comfort...

This is an ex- maharajah's villa, located quite high up on an off-the-beaten-track area, surrounded by trees. Spacious rooms, which get cool in the evenings (only to be expected at this altitude) but adequate fan heaters are supplied. (switch them on 15 minutes before you get out of bed in the morning!) Serviceable and clean shower & bathroom. Overall, comfortable...

This is the maharajah's place - a few corrugated iron roofed villas on the mountain surrounded by trees. The rooms/villas are not warm (fan heaters supplied), have basic shower/bathrooms and are not that comfortable. The plugs and TV didn't work, but hey.... The four male staff did everything - carried in our luggage, cooked and served very good food for...

A quiet property in middle of greens. No shops or restaurants in about 3km radius. Rooms are quite spacious and the staff is super. The food you get here is homecooked food and very basic like dal rice, veggies and chicken but the staff helps you in case you want to pick up food from outside and get it heated...

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour so cannot comment on the room rate. Our room was spacious and a bit spartan. The hotel is in a quiet but hilly slightly remote location. This was an authentic Indian stay rather than the big hotel experience. Food was included, breakfast was basic but adequate, dinner again basic and...

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Rooms good, great setting and lovely food. We came on a package tour and had transportation so getting in and out of town wasn't a problem but I gather there's a local path to walk up. Worth checking although I can't imagine taxis would be expensive. Highly recommended

Lets start with the bookings process - none of the sites that I visited listed this place - I wrote to them (through their website) - my guess is that there is also an office in Delhi - so there is some confusion between the site and the office - but anyway its quite comfortable (as long as you have...

Place takes you back to a bygone era and gives a sense of adventure. Excellent location but stunning views obscured by large trees right by the property. A looked after outside seating area would be lovely. Rooms good sized. Would benefit from deep clean. Home made food excellent- really worth staying for. Staff kind and helpful. Very atmospheric.

Well to be honest, I was initially sceptical of booking this place and considered many a times before finalizing this property. And am now glad that I did not change my decision. The villa is located on the out-skirts, away from the hustle, bustle and traffic jams in the VIP area of Dharamshala town (the locality includes the Commissioner’s residence...
