We came here for a romantic weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The lodge is situated about 5 mins away from the Magalies town. The chalet is advertised as self-catering, situated far from other chalets, with stunning views. The chalet is one room with an attached bathroom, and outdoor showering leading off from it....

The place isn't what it seems from the advert, the owner was rude, the were spiders in our room and one of them bit me, my leg was painful and swollen, reported to the owner and didn't even care. There are also people who sneak into the rooms when there's no one and take whatever they like. It isn't safe...

Friends booked a weekend away for my wife's 50th, so we had the entire lodge to our group. Spent a wonderful time together. Overall facilities are good, although the rooms themselves are looking a bit tired and could do with a bit of sprucing up. Being so close to Jo'burg, it was definitely a good choice for a weekend away...

When we arrived we had a bottle of champagne waiting as it was our honeymoon. Its a peaceful place away from the chaos of city life.I loved the rustic look of the chalet and the outside shower.Though the lodge is some distance from the local town and there are dogs on the premises.Gustav and Mapula were great hosts.Thank you both for...

Went to matlapa lodge with two friends on a weekend away, upon arrival Gustav made an issue about payment which we did a week before our trip, so clearly they have no idea what's happening nor do they check their emails, the room service was not impressive and on the last day they kept rushing us to leave way before...

Wanted to get away for the weekend and stumbled upon this little place on the hills in Magaliesburg. We were received with a smile by Rika and Gustav and shown to our cottage. Very clean and nicely decorated with a nice outside shower. We had breakfast prepared by Gustav. It is a nice place to sleep over and enjoy the...

I have just read the reviews regarding the break ins and find it very disturbing because we arrived the next day and not a word regarding security was mentioned to us. Having been there, I agree, the security is not sufficient. As far as our stay is concerned, the chalets are clean but very rustic. The lodge just looks tired...

I stayed at Matlapa Lodge with my family for the Christmas weekend from the 24th until the 27th. On our last night, there was a break in at our chalet through the back door and two guys armed with big knives took all our belonging including my car keys. It really was a horrific experience for me and my family...

we booked in Matlapa Lodge with my family,Gustav and Rika assured us of how safe is their place and we trusted their words as they seemed genuine. They also promised TVs but there was no TV due to the high crime area in the Lodge. At 2AM while we were fast asleep, 2men broke into our shalet, armed with pangas, demanded money, they took everything...

I recently visited Magaliesburg and stayed over for the weekend at Matlapa lodge. The lodge is situated just a few minutes from the town of magaliesburg and under an hour drive from Johannesburg. The service that I received with my partner was 5 star, the hosts Rika and Gustav welcomed us with warm hands and the the staff is good and...
