Castle Forest Lodge is a beautiful location at the foot of Mount Kenya. We camped on the grounds with friends. The kids all found things to do. It was raining on and off but we were able to use the banda for eating and hanging out. There are two amazing waterfalls within a five minute walk. We had drinks at...

We camped - originally planned 1 night but ended up staying for 3.definitely a little chilly at night higher in altitude. It's a lovely setting in the rain forest - if you need a weekend unwind this is the place. Staff were great and friendly.Showers were hot and amenities clean. Went on a guided bird walk - so many birds!...

We were quite hungry and stopped by for a quick lunch, asking them for the fastest item on the menu which was a traditional chicken. We ended up having to wait well over an hour before we were served anything, and when we finally did get our food it was bland and unmemorable. To top it off, we got charged...

By chance we heard about this idyllic retreat. Approaching from the north of Mt Kenya, from Nyeri we cut across, using unmarked and unnamed roads to get to CFL - quite an adventure, but a great experience, asking frequently for directions and enjoying the forested and tea farm vistas. On departure we headed as directly south as possible towards Nairobi...

We stayed in Summer 2016 when there were only a handful of other guests around. It was very quiet and peaceful, and the full board service was absolutely fantastic for very good value. We were staying for about four days of peace and relaxation; the location was absolutely perfect and there are few things better than sitting on the verandah...

Located in the heart of the Mount Kenya's forests, this is perhaps the most enchanted place in Kenya that lets you feel truly united with nature. I stayed with my family here twice - once in a cottage right at the edge of the forest and the second time in their chalet. Both were fascinating, but the chalet offered a...

The setting at Castle Forest Lodge is stunning, the Lodge and accommodation are all set within Mount Kenya National Park and of course you get a great view of the Mountain. We had an amazing time there, we didn't actually do all that much other than eat and drink, well it was Christmas time, but we were aware of the...

The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We camped here which was great, except the shower/toilet area could have used an upgrade. Can't complain though! We went on a guided walk with Joseph who was excellent, we highly recommend doing a walk with him. We meant to only stay here one night and ended up staying 3.

We were a group of around 30 people and reached at around 8 p.m. Being inside a national park managed by Kenya wildlife services we found the gate closed as their was no guard or anyone around we were planning to return back and luckily the warden who stays nearby came to our assistance and opened the gate for us....

I went camping here with 3 friends who are also birders/guides. We came specifically in search of the African Green Ibis, which I learned about through ebird. Joseph, the resident guide did not disappoint; with the help of his expertise, we came up with a strategy and managed to see them fly right over our heads at dawn! An extremely...
