It's always easy to find faults with most things in life....
However, this hotel, along with the staff, spa, tranquility of setting and backdrop, and food offering make it faultless....

From the minute you arrive, you feel genuinely welcomed by the smiling and friendly staff, and the hotel lobby 'reveal' is quite something... see photo attached.

We are a family of four with children aged 13 and
16. The food offering is plentiful, breakfasts filling and healthy if desired, everything is great value.
The menus are varied, food arrives quickly and fresh, again the restaurant staff are just so honest and nothing is a problem.

Rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable, we had a deluxe pool villa - the pool is perfect, lots of decking and plenty of space outside. The room is spacious, has 2 sinks, a huge bath with window view over the vegetation, indoor and outdoor shower... Plenty of cupboards and storage space, bed is huge with lovely bedding and four poster.

The spa is immaculate, traditional in decoration, varied treatments and extensive choice, ridiculously great value and again -the staff are just so nice!!

WiFi is great throughout the hotel and the hotel is adjacent to other restaurants, a sports club and convenience store nearby.

Top tips - there's a walk from 08.00-09.00 daily with one of the hotel concierge staff. You visit rice fields, a coffee plantation, local temples and it's free for all hotel guests!!

I’d recommend going white water rafting, genuinely brilliant and a great laugh! Safe and exciting, again the staff and people are just so attentive, helpful and friendly.

Ubud is about a 5 minute drive and has an abundance of food choices. We visited Batubara Wood Fire restaurant which was amazing, with Wagyu steaks and a Spanish theme, and more locally Sacred Rice restaurant, which is a 4 minute walk from the hotel - the 5 course chef menu was delicious!

Overall a brilliant holiday and 5 days here was perfect for our family.

Would highly recommend and in summary:

The staff, service, choice, quality, setting, location and value, make this hotel an exceptional experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We have just left the Sankara after a 4 night stay and are so pleased we picked here for our stay.
We stayed in a one bedroom pool villa which was clean, spacious and had a brilliant pool.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom has a fantastic powerful shower and a huge bath tub. The room was cleaned daily and turned down each night.

All of the team at the Sankara are wonderful so welcoming, helpful and friendly.
A special mention to Boodi who took us on a half day tour to see all the sites of Ubud he was not just a driver but guided us around each place and gave us all of his local knowledge.

We ate in the restaurant and attended their bbq night the food was delicious on every occasion as well as the cocktails.
Mary was in the restaurant each time we we went and always smiling and asking about our day.

The location is about 2 miles from central Ubud but the hotel have a free shuttle service

Our first stop in Bali so happy we picked the Sankara if your looking to stay here you wont regret it.

Thank you to all of the team for making our visit so special.

I am extremely unhappy with my recent stay at your hotel. I was charged IDR 500,000 for a flower stain on the bed linen, which I find completely unreasonable and unacceptable. The flowers were placed on the bed by the hotel staff, and there was absolutely no communication or warning about any potential charges.
If hotel choose to place flowers on the bed as part of the experience, it is hotel responsibility to ensure it doesn't cause inconvenience to the guests. Charging for something I didn't even cause or consent to is beyond unacceptable. I have stayed at many 5-star properties, and I have never encountered such a policy or been treated this way.
This experience has left me deeply disappointed. Rest the property was really beautiful and it was a peacful place. I am just expressing my experience so that no one face the same issue in future!!

It is a very relaxing place in a very good location! Breakfast is a la Carte and looks really good and tastes fantastic too!
We had a cottage with its own swimming pool. Nice bed and very clean!! Everything is neatly cleaned every day, new towels and in the evening they come by to prepare your bed for sleep.
The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained, every day you see people working in the hotel garden!
We ordered room service (dinner) a few times and this was also fantastic, not expensive, well prepared and very tasty!
When we wanted to go to Ubud we used the hotel shuttle that runs every hour, just send a WhatsApp to the reception and you will get a quick response!

We are very positive about this resort! Definitely worth a visit! You can go in any direction from Ubud! ♥️

We booked a couples massage for 7pm and arrived 15 minutes early, we thought that for the price the service and the massage would be wonderful but to our surprise the massage was of very poor quality, the oil had no scent, it felt like they were caressing our body with oil, I asked for a little more force and they exaggerated until it hurt me, so I asked for it to be less forceful and again it was just caresses, normally in a massage place they ask you what kind of massage you want and how hard but this time it wasn't like that, in the end my partner and I noticed how both girls started to do the massage faster as if they were in a hurry, when they finished they told us to please get dressed quickly because they had guests waiting, we booked this place believing that we were going to relax and we even wanted to use the bathtub in the room but they quickly kicked us out of the room. The place is definitely not worth it except for the massage, the price is incredibly expensive for such an unpleasant visit. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place!😡

Shankara Resorts Bali exceeded expectations with its peaceful ambiance, spotless facilities, and attentive staff. The spacious room, coupled with a large bathroom, provided comfort, while the complimentary cake and honeymoon decorations added a delightful touch. The resort and the room were very pretty, the pool villa was lovely but stairs everywhere so not suitable for mobility challenged. The staff were all very young and had no senior direction which might explain the poor service and laughable experiences we found during our stay. The 4 poster bed creaks every time you move and the wooden door to the external bathroom wouldn’t close properly, requiring slamming to close it. Not so good in the middle of the night. We were first greeted by a waiver we needed to sign exempting the resort of all blame for injury or death, and making us liable for any breakages or damage. We found several things wrong in the room and wonder if others had hidden the damage for that reason. One outside lounge chair fell apart the first time we sat on it. The bathroom sink was blocked. There was a major attempt to upsell. We had a Trip-A-Deal special which included some meals, drinks and a massage, but they denied it was for all guests and charged accordingly. Beware of small print! The free shuttle to Ubud only runs when prebooked. We prebooked a shuttle back to the hotel after having dinner in Ubud and they forgot us, leaving us stranded and wet after a downpour of rain. Luckily the next shuttle driver an hour later rescued us. No apology from the 5 staff at reception when we returned dripping wet. “Communication error” was all they could say. We requested our free cocktail and they told us to go upstairs to the restaurant (dripping wet). We asked them to bring us towels and the cocktails to the lobby as we were going to our room. The pool is icy cold despite the hot humid weather. The rice terrace walk is just a stroll to the field next door for around 10 minutes - skip it and visit the rice terraces on a tour. Building construction next door is very noisy and intrusive but stops around sunset. All noise echoes in the valley. The resort is out of town and you will need a taxi or the shuttle to get around. One guest we spoke with broke her arm on the wet slippery surface and was flying home early.
Would never go back and would not recommend.

Absolute bliss

We booked five nights in this hotel as part of a special birthday celebration and opted for the Adventure package staying in a one bedroom pool villa. I am writing this review on my last day and if we could stay here forever we absolutely would. This hotel is absolutely outstanding , one of the best I have ever stayed in. We were collected from the airport by a lovely friendly driver who had our name on a sign and was waiting for us just as we cleared the arrivals area. The taxi was cool and air conditioned , with bottles of water waiting for us. On our arrival at the hotel we received an exceptionally warm welcome from the start , with cool towels and welcome drinks of honey , lemon grass and ginger tea. Perfect after a very long journey from the UK. We were taken to our villa (Darma) and wow , just wow. Gorgeously appointed bedroom and an outdoor seating area with private pool. The bathroom has a stunning shower, huge carved bathtub and steps into the pool itself. Just stunning. The staff here are the most wonderful friendly, caring and attentive I have ever encountered. They really do go the extra mile in every way. Breakfast (included) at the hotel is delicious , freshly made to order and there is so much variety. All of the meals we had both breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent. Included within our adventure package was an hours massage in the spa (absolute bliss) along with a morning cycling tour and white water rafting. The cycling tour took us around the rice paddies , traditional villages , a master wood carvers home and including tea and coffee tasting at a coffee plantation. The views were beautiful and our guide was fantastic. On our return to the hotel we were treated to a beautiful lunch at the hotel Kumbah restaurant. The White Water rafting down the Ayung river saw us collected from the hotel by our own driver and the rafting itself was some of the best fun I have ever had. The scenery is breathtaking, the guides excellent and we felt safe every step of the way. Great fun also followed by a delicious lunch included in the package. This hotel has so many little extras that make it truly special. From the staff who remember your name and welcome you home everyday , daily fresh fruit in your room and turn down service, complimentary shuttle into town and back throughout the day and just feeling looked after and welcome throughout and I could list so many more. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough and would book again in a heartbeat . Thank you to everyone at the Sankara hotel for making our stay the most wonderful one, with memories that will last us a lifetime. Xxx

This is my 5th hotel in Bali during the last few weeks , an the so far the best. From the moment you arrive Wan at the reception welcomes you with the greatest of hospitality you know immediately that your stay will be a memorable one.

The rooms, so many hotels I guess due to covid has mould issues but not at Sankara the rooms an toilet smell so fresh an clean. I was really getting tired of smelling mould everywhere I went but not here which was a big bonus point!! They keep the rooms super clean an even though the hotel is in jungle vicinity you won’t find many mosquitoes or bugs around. The hotel has a very homely feeling and the staff just adds to that, true Balinese hospitality.

They provide a shuttle into the center of Ubud which adds to the perfection. If you looking for a peaceful an relaxed atmosphere this is the place to stay. At night an early morning just staring into the jungle is the best way to start an end your day 😃

Breakfast, they don’t offer buffet style which in my opinion is so much more hygienic, instead you can choose from the menu with so many options available so if you staying for sometime you wont get bored as you can select options each day. The Balinese coffee an fresh bread is super delish. Meri an the rest of the team at the restaurant always made sure to chit chat an made you feel welcomed an like you are at home, thank you so much!!!

I can’t fault this resort in anyway, compared to other places I’ve stayed. Please take care of the staff as they absolutely deserve huge praises for the work they do an the hospitality they deliver.

I will be back without a doubt 😊

Bonjour, the hotel wasn't in the town of Ubud however we were told when we arrived at the hotel that they can provide a chauffeur to take us to the supermarket. We had to give an hour's notice and then the car would take us to Ubud supermarket which was in the middle of Ubud town, all we had to do was give an estimated time for pick up. You can stay as long as you want in the town to explore and to eat. The supermarket is quite close to the monkey forest so you could visit there also. Hope those helps.
