The first stop on a 3 day tour for my Birthday. And what a start! Great welcome from the minute we arrived, and we actually got to sit in the sun in the beer garden - in February! The room was fabulous - loads of space, quite and all those home touches you want from a country pub. Dinner was...

We had an overnight stay in one of the executive rooms on a busy Saturday night, My parents were also staying in another executive room on the same visit. Upon our arrival we were shown to our room, which was not in the actual pub itself, it had a rather grotty approach, via a back door, passing kitchens and staff...

You are greeted with a cheery hello from the attentive staff and there's a feeling that you could be at home. Nicely decorated with comfortable furniture and a warming fire for January. What you would call a genuine country pub. We had a couple of starters as we didn't intend eating but other peoples food looked so good. Not a...

A very nice stay here although there were two problems, one was that the external chimney of the boiler for the central heating was right outside our room (Room 8) and made a noise all night. The other was the mattress was fairly uncomfortable and the whole bed squeaked! The room however was nicely done, warm on a cold night...

This is a bit of a gem, three bird terrine with new season rhubarb, soufflés, rabbit, a real cassoulet (to die for!) using Toulouse sausages, just like you would have it in Toulouse, Fresh fish, and a pub grub style menu. . . All of the ingredients quite clearly used with pride - value for money, hell yes! If you...

Went with my partner for a few drinks in the bar area, ended up getting some nibbles as well. Although pricey, the food is delicious, high quality and service is brilliant. Gorgeous pub and decor too!

English country pub accommodation is generally described as quaint so I was surprised to find that my room was big, the (heated) bathroom was modern and the bed was pretty comfortable. I am not sure if the term "gastro-pub" is still in use but that describes the food. I looked forward to breakfast and the fish & chips for lunch...

My husband and I were given a voucher for the 10 course tasting meal for our birthdays last year; what a fantastic gift. After over three hours of attentive service and delicious food we struggled to make it home - should have booked a room! Have just returned for a meal in the bar with a friend and was equally...
