Detailed Reviews
The cabin we stayed in had 2 comfortable bed rooms and the lounge with a large window overlooking the lake and the incredible Cerro Castillo. There was ample bedding and 2 wood heaters (one a stove and the other for heating) so we were not cold despite being there in autumn. The solar panels provide sufficient electricity.
This is a gorgeous place and it wonderful to be able to stay somewhere remotely in comfort with such great views. Hector the landlord was very friendly and helpful.

Incredible ... yes it is incredible to find a place to stay in such a remote and wonderful landscape. Yes the comfort is not very high but what are you expecting here ? We've been there twice in the last 5 years and i long to go back. I am really happy to find such a place here and not one of these over expensive fishing lodges for the US tourists wishing to visit south america in 5 days with their precious little comfort. Remember that it is a windy area and that it may be cold event in summer but definitely this is one of my favorite places in chilean patagonia.

Had a great stay, fantastic location and very friendly / helpful family..
They went out their way despite it being Christmas and we turned up unanounced.
Looks like there is a walking track up from Cerrro Castillo which would be a good way to arrive.

The cabins are located across Cerro Castillo in Tamango Lake. Its a beautiful place with a great view. However, the cabins are just ok and in need of renovation. The cabin we stayed was clearly much smaller before and it was enlarged, as a result the heating system (a woodburning stove) is not able to keep warm the whole cabin during the nigth. There was one room that got really, so I woke up many times every night and couldn't get a good night sleep.
The boiler is inside the cabin next to the bathroom, which is not only risky as it can leak gas while you are in the shower but it is also something forbidden by law (for the same reason).
Electricity is available only 3 hours a day which is inconvenient.
I wouldn't stay here again.

We arrived to the cottage after a three-day hiking trip to the Cerro Castillo national park. The cottages are located at Tamango Lake. They look out at the Cerro Castillo mountains. It is an impressive view of the uniquely shaped mountains full of snow and glaciers.
The cottage is a three bedroom, a simple but beautiful place made out of wood.
We took advantage of the dinner and breakfast that the couple in charge of the place cooked for us. They were very kind and helpful. The food was simple but good.
We advised the owners to install a log heater instead of the gas heater that is in the main bedroom. The rest of the cottage and the other two bedrooms are well heated with the main log heater installed in the living room.
Santiago, the owner of the place, transported us back to the airport. We took a longer and beautiful route via Puerto Ibañez on General Carrera Lake. Santiago knows the area very well and was very kind.
They can organize or recommend different activities in the area.
