We stayed at the majestic colonial resort end of September for 11 nights leading into beginning of October for my wife’s 30th birthday. We got here and had someone help us carry our bags to our room. We stayed in room 2128 jr swim up suit basically bang in the middle of the resort. Room was very spacious, clean and the air con was really nice and cold with a ceiling fan going round circulating the air really well so it was so nice and easy to get to sleep at night. Mini bar filled up everyday with fizzy drinks, water and beer for free! The swim up room was perfect! we had steps going down into the pool right outside our room so was easy to get in and out of. I might sound a little bit boring saying this but it was quite hard to relax at our swim up room as it was quite close to the swim up bar where activities went on all day except at couple hours for lunch and to be honest the music was really really loud! I wouldn’t have minded it to much if it was slightly lowered down but it was like being in a nightclub that’s how loud it was! But it didn’t ruin our stay at all we just used to go up the swimming pool a little bit so it wasn’t as loud. We wernt the only ones saying it.. but that is the only complaint I will say! Boring I know! lol the pool was cold in the mornings but got warmer in the evenings. Don’t know if it was them heating it or where it was so hot the sun would heat it up! the waitresses would come round the pool in the day asking if you wanted drinks. Strong drinks aswell! There was a lot Really friendly staff there all really helpful. The food was some of the best food I’ve had on a holiday! All different themed nights in the buffet. The waiters were brilliant aswell really professional. Always grabbing you drinks and stuff. The gardeners kept the grounds immaculate and any coconuts they chopped down in the morning they would give us and we would drink from them! Evening entertainment was good! Karaoke, 70s night, Micheal Jackson tribute and the circus! The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful! Really well looked after and cleaned all the time! Beach was tidy and beautiful soft sand but water was hard to swim in as the sea quite rough so if your not a confident swimmer don’t go in! This is my totally honest review of the hotel and I will definitely be staying here again! Absolute paradise loved every minute of it and I’m glad I picked this hotel for my first trip to the Dominican Republic and it definitely won’t be my last! 🇩🇴🍻😎☀️

We revisited the Colonial Club from Oct 25-Nov 2nd on our annual family & friend’s trip. We have been to the DR six other times & have never wanted to vacation at the same resort. However, after 2023 we decided to return during Halloween.

This resort has all that is needed to reset one’s system. The property overall is compact, rustic & not ultra-modern which is preferred. Even though we had inclement weather for 2 days; it did not dampen our vacation.

The hotel is as perfect as you can get with some minor adjustments needed in the rooms (extra hooks & lighting over the beds would be helpful).

We experienced great service & food at all the restaurants with the Steak, Seafood & Le Gourmet being our favorites this year. Drinks were abundant & especially liked the bar under the stairs by the Main lobby bar.

The ocean was yellow flagged most days as there was a disturbance in the Caribbean at the time, but was also seaweed free all week. The security presence on the beach at all times was also reassuring.

Day Activities: The daytime activities were on par with other resorts, but could have some added variety at the beach; balloon toss, musical people chairs, Olympic Games etc.

Night Entertainment: Love the music & dancing in the plaza with the live bands & having an MC towards the end of the week also made the difference (especially when the DJ was on). IMO, the Michael Jackson Show needs revamping & Karaoke night was too long as the complete song need not be played. I did like that the traditional Dominican Show at the theatre was moved to the Plaza & enjoyed the talented singers on Funjestic night in the theater.

We did experience some minor hiccups which were addressed immediately. Majestic Resorts welcome your feedback & any comments given are taken seriously. Customer Service is important & the efficiency of the resolution is the main reason that brought us back to MCC. For our inconveniences, we received a complimentary Hydrotherapy at the spa along with some added goodies which we enjoyed on one of the rainy days. Any dinner reservation requests or issues we encountered were promptly acknowledged by our Butler. He was always present & checked in with us daily to ensure that all was well.

Our Butler, Braymer & his supervisor Vanessa especially upgraded our experience this year. I would also like to mention a few other staff members who enhanced our stay: Camila (guest services), Geovanny & Yaslin (animation) & Jesus & Yonefri (restaurant servers). Meeting & connecting with the local people when we travel is an integral part of our vacation & we absolutely did that this year. We all agreed that there will be a 3rd visit in the near future.

This is a beautiful resort and the majority of the employees were considerate, kind and professional. As noted in previous reviews, the rooms do need updating which is planned during a hotel closure of August 24 to October 23, 2025. We had good working internet everywhere on the resort.
There was a mixology bar next to the La Gourmet, under the main stairs. I wish I had discovered it earlier. Totally loved the Dominican Mule and the Alabama.
The four of us had 2 rooms in the Colonial Club. Our Butler was Jesus. He is a very kind man and I apologize for not having his surname. For us it was worth the extra money to book Club. With the exception of two noisy groups near the end of our trip, the building and pool area was quiet. I booked this 5* resort naïvely thinking that the patrons would respect fellow vacation goers. The truth is that loud drunks are found everywhere.
One of the Club perks is having access to breakfast and lunch in the La Gourmet. The La Gourmet’s Maître d', Ruddy Israel-Alexander, was wonderful and we looked forward to seeing him when we ate there.
One person in our party never drinks alcohol and we found non-alcohol beer and mixed drinks readily available throughout the resort. Note, do not ask for a “virgin” drink, instead ask for “non-acholic”.
Two of us are vegetarians. There was a variety, in different restaurants, to choose from, but nothing spectacular. The La Gourmet’s evening menu had nothing for us.
Yes, I would recommend this resort and yes, we are planning to return next year.

I recently visited the majestic colonial in Punta Cana. My boyfriend and I stayed in the adults only colonial club section (swim up) room. Upon arrival we were told our swim up room would not be ready for 2 days, we were given a $100 resort credit for the inconvenience. This seemed to be an issue that many of the other visitors also experienced. When we finally got to our new room 2 days later we realized The swim ups were not actual swim up rooms they were just rooms close to the pool that everyone still had access to so it’s definitely not worth the extra money. The rooms also advertise 2 hot tubs one indoor and one outdoor, we were unable to get in either hot tub because of the green mossy substance coming out of the jets. In the colonial club you have 24 hr room service, however each time we called room service they had nothing on the menu that we asked for only hot dogs and hamburgers. We had a Butler which we didn’t need to utilize too much but the one thing we asked was to have dinner reservations made so that we could go with 2 friends that were also there our Butler decided to pick random days for the reservations Without checking if that date and time Was good For us and when we asked to change so that our friends can go at the same time he said he couldn’t change it and Stopped responding. Housekeeping did a decent job but never left wash cloths in the room, and we found a really big dead bug in the bed one morning after they came to clean. My boyfriend woke up with multiple bug bites on his legs each morning he had more and more. The food overall at the resort was not great , the Japanese restaurant was not bad and the steak and seafood restaurant on the beach was also decent. The other restaurants were a miss most days. The night club was decent for a resort club. Overall we had a really disappointing experience at Majestic Colonial Punta Cana and we will not be returning.

This is the worst all inclusive I've ever been to.
Upon arrival it took an hour after check in time to get our room. There were 4 of us and the room only has 3 towels I called front desk immediately so that extra towels could be delivered so we all could shower, that was at about 4pm. The towels came the next day around 7pm. We ordered room service 2x first time the order was placed at 645pm the food arrived at 953pm 3 calls were made and finally a trip to the front desk where I was told "just call again and replace the order"
Second time I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and they delivered me a turkey and cheese sandwich.
Pool area was always littered with trash and cups. If you're a non smoker beware bc there are no designated smoking areas and ppl smoke wherever they want and just not cigars and cigarettes but marijuana.
We saw roaches several times especially at beach buffet.
I went to get pool towels and the employee was sleeping in the towel hut on top of dirty towels and was very annoyed to be woken up.
Service is slow or non existent.
Vendors on the beach are annoying always trying to sell you something.
My son and I went to main buffet for dessert and was sat at a dirty table with a dirty napkin when I pointed it out to hostess she covered up the dirty spot with a napkin, so we left.
If you're vegetarian you will starve the options are terrible.
My teens did not enjoy the food no variety and not prepared well.
We went to the fancy French restaurant and I ordered a vegetarian eggplant dish and I was brought a stale piece of bread with cold veggies on top.
I'm not sure how they have received the reviews they have.

The beach is stunning, and the property is beautiful and very thoughtfully designed. It should be a first rate resort, but due to poor management and execution, it is not even average. When we arrived late in the afternoon, after check in time, we were all very thirsty. Three or four of us in our party kept asking for water from different employees. They would always say, "We will take care of you," but they never brought us water. They never even explained the check in process. We were literally left to stand in the lobby without anywhere to sit. Finally after 45 minutes we were escorted to an air conditioned room where they had cold drinks and an assortment of food and seating. We did not get our room until 3 hours later. To keep us busy they had an employee take us on a walking tour of the property. A member of our party is chronically ill and was unable to keep up physically. It was very hot, and we had been traveling all day. He rudely and condescendingly kept asking her to "keep up," as though she were trailing behind on purpose. Then he stopped in the direct sun and heat and had us stand there while he took a personal phone call. The member of our party who is sick was struggling to stand in the heat. That is when I went back to management and complained. I told him that we needed comfort while they were running behind on getting our rooms ready, not to be kept busy on a meaningless walking tour that was physically daunting for a member of our party. When we did get into our room, the air conditioner was not working. We were moved to another room where it was working, but would not cool below 78 degrees. None of the ice machines worked. The plastic cups that were intended to be disposable were re-used and were incapable of being sanitized. When I noticed that I started ordering only beverages that came in their own sealed containers. Our "butler" (not really a butler as most people understand the term, but really a middle man we're all required to use to get any dinner or beach canopy reservations and accommodate any special occasions during the trip) was very attentive and did the best he could to make our vacation enjoyable. He decorated our daughter's room for her birthday and arranged for spa treatments to make up for the rude and bad service from other employees. Not surprisingly, the spa treatments were disappointing, too. The employees in the spa, like most of the employees in the resort, clearly resent having to be employed in the hospitality industry. The only food that was decent was in the restaurants where you had to have reservations. The Japanese restaurant required reservations, but it was not good at all. It was the least authentic Japanese restaurant I've ever experienced; I'd never heard of chicken sushi rolls before this. And it was so incredibly hot in there that we couldn't stay to finish our meals. We paid for a 7 day stay, but left after only 5 days because we could not tolerate the disappointing food and staff anymore.

We went with friends celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The Check-in went very quickly, also advised that our room was ready but if hungry the Main Buffet was open for lunch. This buffet has many stations with very eye appealing options-so you definitely can't leave hungry for any mealtimes. We were greeted by our concierge from the Adult Club Lounge-Alfredo that gave us a quick tour describing all the options available during our stay (example activities, restaurants, tours). He checked in with us several times during our stay 19OCT-26OCT to see if there was anything he could help with. We ate at the Steakhouse/Seafood restaurants as well as Taino all with great food. We had reservations at the Japanese restaurant and while most of the food was good (beef too dry/tough), our Chef paid more attention to the 6 other Spanish speaking people than the 4 of us. A very positive comment has to go to Alfredo for tracking down the 3 pieces of laundry that were to be returned within 24 hours, but didn't show up. He said to us that he would go to wherever the laundry facility was and promised to return with it. A promise he kept, one happy traveler.

We stayed at the Majestic in January 2020 and everything had been perfect. The food was excellent, the room and the shows professional quality. We chose this hotel for our fall vacation 2024 with the premise that following our review of our stay 2020, we could not be wrong. That was not the case at all. Nothing dramatic, but not at all up to the reputation and price charged by this hotel. I was at the reception 3 times during my stay to mention my disappointment. I was entitled to a simple, sorry sir, not much corrective except for the water that started flowing from the ceiling into the room one night. I slipped on the ceramic not seeing the puddle on the ground and hurt my shoulder.
I took pictures of breaks in the room: torn curtains that made it impossible to close completely and the sun's glow entered at sunrise. Added paint as seen in cheap hotels in Cuba. Soundproofed zero door, there is 1 good inch of play between the door and the floor. Outdated and broken faucets in the shower. Refueling of the minibar forgotten 3 days a week, unanswered requests to the maid for washcloths and toilet paper, even after 3 consecutive days of tips left and messages in Spanish, two double beds instead of the queen bed requested.
On some days, especially in the evening, the buffet resembled Cuba's. Compared to my visit in 2020 where we had feasted on almost all our meals, it was totally the opposite this year, I did not take a pound on the scales when I returned home.
The shows we saw in 2020 were almost all of a professional quality, especially Michael Jackson's, which was breathtaking. Now I can tell you that the 2024 shows were amateur quality without more.
If so, the majority of the staff are friendly and smiling (but not all, on some occasions no service was provided-tip is given to every drink ordered and every meal. When we come to be recognized as tipping customers, then we have nice smiles and service without problem). The pool is clean and superb, as well as the beach. There's a lot of salespeople out there, but they haven't been very helpful.
To sum up our stay at Majestic 2024 versus 2020, it's a 50% increase in the rate for 50% drop in the value...
But as I jokingly told my co-workers on my way back from vacation, the average vacation week surpasses any good work week;)

This was our first time at the Majestic Colonial. We didn't experience any real issues but we weren't head over heels in love with the resort. It's average at best. First off at check in, we asked for a ground floor room to help with some mobility issues. The fellow at the front desk said he was going to do one better and give us an ocean front room. It's already dark by the time we get to our room so when we go out to the balcony, its too dark to see the ocean. Obviously, the front desk has never been to our room because when we get up in the morning, you can't even hear the ocean, let alone see it. We overlooked a towel storage shed. That left a sour taste in our mouth for sure but since we could have cared less about an ocean view, we didn't complain. Seemed more hassle to repack and move. As stated in other reviews, there is no privacy at all in the junior suites. Fine for married couples but when you're travelling with friends, it can be a bit awkward. The toilet, albeit, in its own little water closet, is literally less than a foot from the vanity. Also, the jacuzzi tub is practically in the middle of the room so if you wanted to take a bath, one of the beds was again literally a foot away.
The food was average. We ate at the buffet most nights. It was a bit too windy to venture to the beach to eat at the open air seafood place though we did try the Rodeo Grill and it was decent. The Japanese was not good a all. The dish had a weird hickory flavour and the restaurant was very noisy. It was nice not having to make reservations for the a la cartes (except the French and Japanese) however the resort was not busy at all and we still had to wait to get in. This could be troublesome when the resort is at fuller capacity.
On a positive note, the grounds were kept spotless, the drinks were good and the pool was great. For the most part, the staff were all very friendly and courteous.
We spoke to many other guests who had been to the resort many times but they all reported that this would likely be their last trip to the Majestic Colonial. The all agreed its not the resort it once was.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Every person we met on staff was friendly, helpful and kind. We enjoyed the food and drinks and especially the spa. As our first vacation in several years, we wanted something relaxing, stress-free, and adult-only, and that's exactly what we found here. Luis, our incredible butler, was there from the start to help us navigate the resort, its many restaurants, events and activities. Leonardo, our go-to bartender at the pool, was a daily staple in our experience, always serving up great drinks and friendly conversation. Joanna, Ana, Rosa and Ramon at the spa very quickly turned us into repeat customers, and every visit was better than the last. We loved how centralized everything in the resort was - just a brief walk to the spa, the restaurants, and so many bars to select from. The beach was quite literally at our front door, and the sand was like silk. We also have to call out the paella served up daily at the beach-front palapa, which was the best we've ever had. Our room had a private garden area with pool-front access, which was idyllic. But even if we wanted to turn in early or grab an afternoon cat nap, there was almost no noise filtering in through our doors. It was also our first experience wearing our room keys as bracelets, which I thought would bother me as you cannot take them off during your stay, but it turned out to be the best thing because there was no forgetting a key or need to carry a purse or pocket full of items. The Colonial Club is the way to go, with adult-only areas and an exceptional concierge service. We loved our stay and truly cannot wait to return.

Thank-you @vegas4. When we were there in Oct of 2023, my wife asked for an iced coffee and they brought her a cup of coffee with a glass full of ice. We even asked our butler but he had no idea what one was. He told us to go to the lobby bar like you suggested but even they had no idea what that was. We did find out there is a coffee shop at The Mirage so we plan on going there as we were told they had awesome iced coffees, smoothies, energy drinks, etc....
