We spent two glorious weeks at the Occidental Punta Cana last Christmas after missing a few years thanks to the pandemic. We are counting down the days until we return next month. The beach may be the star of the show, but the people are what make this resort world-class. Hipolito raises the bar at the Royal Club restaurant ensure that service and the food are exception. We look forward to dining with he and Wendy each morning and evening. Willy is a solid bartender always in a good mood, well, he does work on beach every day. There are countless hardworking team members that take pride in the special touches that make us feel special. The resort is gorgeous, the pools spotless and the buffets spectacular, but Royal Club and First Club exceed our every expectation every single time.

Occidental Punta Cana Resort Review Nov 11-18/23 This was our first time coming to your resort in November. We always booked March/ April. We definitely loved coming in November. We are Royal members. I first would like to acknowledge some of your excellent team in making our vacation amazing . Anny Ventura sure made us feel very welcome. Jenry Oyental excellent service and his team at Royal Office made us feel very welcome b Tomas Rosario our daily room organizer , excellent service, our suite cleaned and organized and he always made us feel very welcome . Hipolito Perez, Wendy Peña , Sandro Bastardo and rest of team at Royal Restaurant our meals were always delicious and service with a smile . Excellent chef’s. We ate most meals at the Royal Restaurant. Anderlys Abreu and Yuleysi Martinez Royal Beach Bar afternoon / evening’s bartenders . They work very well together. Great Team. Excellent drinks and we had fun and laughs , made many great memories. Willy Bruno at the Lobby Bar, excellent drinks and made us feel very welcome. Bell boys and golf cart drivers gave us great service all week. First Club ~ Arisleyda Marselle ,Zollanyi Peña, Juan Corporan always greeting us and with smiles. They answered any questions that we had. Excellent service. We also enjoyed the Tuesday @5 pm cocktails , finger foods and live music with the First Club Team . We were 4 adults. Check in was fast thanks to Jenry Oyental Royal Manager and his team. Our rooms were nicely uready with amazing views. Fridge nicely stocked . Our turn down service was great. Fresh towels , and extra water for our morning coffees. We did 2 Al carte restaurants. Steakhouse being the best but I was surprised their salad bar was not as colourful as it had been last March. Everything for salad was green. No tomatoes, shredded carrots or onions. Seafood Restaurant was good we had salmon and shrimp shish kabobs . Service good both places. We ate at the snack bar once. Chicken was over cooked but was good. Service was good. In 2019 you had the best chicken, we wish you could bring back that chicken. It was so delicious. Pizza was delicious and fast service. We love your pizza. We ate once at Beach Buffet Lunch. We wanted fresh salad and French Fries. They were both delicious and salad bar had lots of color like sheddred carrots, tomatoes and onions. We love the live music at the Lobby bar. Love the atmosphere. Bathrooms were nice and clean . You have a beautiful beach and we love the Royal Beach area. The Jacuzzi pool is awesome in Royal Level. I did notice the jets on the sides were either not working or turned on. Always clean beach towels. This is a beautiful resort and clean . Pool and areas clean. As we spent most of our time in Royal Level , we noticed all the Royal Team are friendly, kind , polite and always a smile. We do know they work very hard and appreciate a Thank you 😊 We cannot wait to come back soon.

Ok the good bits are the beach is beautiful with sand like talcum powder thought it can get a bit like Bournemouth on a bank holiday. The room we had was large and the bed mattress was amazingly comfortable. The bad bits the beach bar is out of bounds as is for "Royal Members only" so go que with the rest of us. The restaurants service is appallingly and i would be embarrassed to work there, order a red wine and you could get anything that anyone else has ordered, order a starter and main and you may get it or you may even get someone else's desert or anything. If i had service this bad at home i would not go back but here all inc means i have to go back to awful service 10 times!

I have to say as great as some elements are, I feel I am leaving underwhelmed. We read very mixed reviews before coming so we came with an open mind. We have a Royal Level room, the Royal Level restaurant was great for the first 2/3 days so we ate there for every meal. It then became very poor service and quite poor food so we decided to head to the Seafood restaurant for breakfast and lunch instead which has been great! Mexican Restaurant - POOR! Service was very slow and food was even worse. We left before we had dessert. For note we ordered enchiladas and the fajitas. Oriental - Service was better than the Mexican but the food was a disappointment. We ordered the satay chicken which was more like a soy sticky sauce and the chicken was that overdone it tasted like pork. Steakhouse - the service and food was great first time round, we went again on the second week. I ordered the beef fillet medium rare and it came out very well done… not how I have ever eaten it so this was a disappointment. The desserts were good though Italian - this was probably the best one as this was consistent with the service and good taste. The only criticism was that the risotto was not cooked properly so I wouldn’t recommend ordering that. Taco bar - no clear signage of what was on offer and the member of staff was quite sharp when we asked what was on offer, it was tasty but would’ve been bette rod the tacos were crispy. Pizza Bar - this was great. We were told it opened at 11am however it opens at 6pm. But it was very tasty!! Seafood - this was very tasty but quite slow service. We also went here for breakfast and lunch most days however over the last few days we have received quite poor service and some staff have been quite rude when serving us - we believe that this is due to my partner asking for a cappuccino when the coffee machine was broken (which we weren’t aware of) since then we have received very poor service in the restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Royal Level Restaurant - Absolutely awful! As mentioned before we have had a few great services however after the first 3 days we got nothing but poor and slow service! On our last night in the hotel we decided to head back one last time. It took almost 90 minutes to get our food and there was items missing from it. When my partner queried this they went into the kitchen and we were then advised that the chef got confused with the menu; there are only 3 mains options a night so not too sure how you can get confused. We were then brought out the missing items once we had already eaten our food. The restaurant also smelt damp every time we visited. We had an issue on the first few days where the hairdryer blew a fuse in our room and was smoking the entire bedroom. We had to ring 4 times and then go down to the Royal Level reception before someone came to the room - this took over an hour for someone to come to the room. we were given a new hairdryer. 2 days later Jenry the Royal Level Manager spoke to us about moving rooms which we gladly accepted. He dealt with the issue great! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the hot tub is a great addition and there is more than enough space on the balcony which is great! The ceilings are very high too. The one thing that lets the room down is the cleanliness. When the maids come to clean it isn’t cleaned to a standard that I have experienced in previous hotels. The mini fridge is also not stocked very well. We requested more diet cokes (coca cola lights) numerous times as we didn’t want full sugar pop and they took the money we left out and still gave us the same amount of cola light. The hotel was stunning and the beach was amazing however there are other hotels in Punta Cana that I would recommend more than this one.

Royal all the way! It is the best experience. All you need is right there. From the private check in with Liz and Jerry, you are treated royally. The rooms are large, comfortable king bed, soft plush pillows. The royal restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner was out of this world, made that much better with Wendy as our server, he treated us like family every day. The private jetted pool, was quaint, quiet and had plenty of shaded seating The beach..magnificent, groomed, again plenty of shaded loungers, the water clear and turquoise, quite the undertow when I was there, but calmed by mid morning The beach bar...opened early for before breakfast coffee or cappuccino..served by none other than Sayonara or Fransisco, best mixed drinks coco locos, Pina coladas, Dominican flag, Bahama mama's, punta cana special the list goes on. The security at the royal beach was excellent, kept the vendors at bay, stopped non royal guests from entering or if they missed them coming in, they quickly guided them to where they needed to go. In a word fantastic. I have traveled to a lot of resorts. This one I would return to in a heartbeat.

Everything about this resort was great. The rooms were clean. Food at all the restaurants was really good, especially the omlette station in the mornings. The pool was easy to access - had a walk in entrance and gradual steps. The evening entertainment was really good. I would go back to this resort again.

Service was very poor. Rooms very outdated and smells like toilet and mold. Very litle programs during the day for customers and specialty for the kids. Only 2 thinks that we enjoyed was the food and pools. For the price we payed was totally not worthy.

We were at a hotel occidental Punta Cana and I liked the attention of everything but what I liked the most was the kids club and there’s a lot activity and the girl anlly an Esperanza , the food was good and the rooms were clean and the mini disco is fun the pool was fun and the beach was beautiful and I will be coming to hotel occidental Punta Cana next year.

PROS: Mexican and Oriental restaurants were good! Beach is beautiful! (The vendors do get annoying but we just ignore or say no) Buffet food was not bad. Average but we always found something decent to eat. We were never hungry. Seafood restaurant food was good but service incredibly slow. CONS: We booked as a group of 13 people. All my friends were given rooms in building 26 and we were in building 24. They offered us a room in 26 but with two double beds (we booked a king). So whatever, we chose to go with the king in building 24 room 107 and the room was absolutely horrible. Bed was dirty. Toilet leaked. There was a door adjoining the room next door and the lock was broken! Meaning the vacationers next door would be able to enter our room anytime! We called to request the room in building 26 with the double beds(that we were previously offered less than 15min prior), and I was lied to, and said that there were no rooms available. After much persuading and getting irritated, they finally agreed to change our room. The in room iron leaked some dirt/rust and ruined my dress shirt. Do NOT go to the Italian restaurant. That’s all I have to say. No AC for two days in building 26. It seemed to be a building wide problems because other rooms were also without AC for up to 3 days, and they had a baby. It took lots and lots of complaining to finally get them to change room. Horrible service in the buffets. Often times we’d get asked what we wanted to drink, only to have them either forget it entirely or bring it once our meal was over. Constantly harassed by hotel employee allegedly wanting to give us free gifts (I think it was the timeshare dude) and the spa people On night three our ceiling started leaking (room 26-216) in multiple locations on each wall at 10:30pm. We asked to have our room changed and it took over an hour for them to send somebody. The next night, another storm hits and the ceiling in the new room (25-210) begins to leak as well. Heavily tipped the housekeeper with money and gifts one day and didn’t receive any towels. So I waited 40+ min in my wet bathing suit in my room for towels to arrive so that I could shower and make our dinner reservation. Hotel wide water issue one night. There was NO running water anywhere on the resort. Elevator in building 25 did not work the entire 3 nights we stayed there.

For the price of the hotel, expected so much more. I have been to many all inclusive hotels and this had hands down the worst food and drink. WORST. You are only allowed to have 3 a la carte restaurant nights. We chose the Mexican, Italian and Oriental, all poor quality food but the Italian was hands down the worst Italian I have ever had. Food was generally all cold, clearly microwaved and not cooked fresh. Didn't taste good either, no seasoning on anything. Also the drinks were all so sickly and sweet. I LOVE a margarita cocktail and the one at this hotel was so sweet and didn't taste like a margarita at all. I couldn't find any drink I liked and all inclusive was a waste of money. Reception was quiet helpful but generally not great service. We asked for a bottle of water and more toilet roll for our room at reception. Nothing turned up. We upgraded the last day, which was much much better. Food was decent and drinks better.
