Come and rediscover the marvels the Barcelo Bavaro Beach - Adults Only***** hotel has to offer!
This is our second time back to the Barcelo Bavaro Beach - Adults only. We were in building 2 second floor. There are mostly Pro's to the resort. I will list pro and con. Pro's: The is an adults only property. The security staff ensures that this is adhered to (vs other "adults only" places we have stayed). The security staff also ensures that only hotel guests use the beach chairs and facilities. This is appreciated as we pay for being able to have an adults-only experience as well as being able to easily find a chair to use at the beach. The food is very diverse and we never had an issue filling our plate. There is a great selection for everyone (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc) and the food is always well stocked. We tried the La Bistra and the Chex Gourmet specialty restaurants. The staff was excellent and the food wonderful. The beach is kept clean of seaweed each evening but, during the day, more will wash in. We have found more seaweed around Nov-Feb and less when we visit in March-April. Not sure if this is a seasonal thing or not....but I digress. The check-in experience for the Premium level is first class. There is a separate place for you to check in so there usually isn't any lines. A hint - Barcelo lets you pre-check-in. DO IT! It makes your check-in go much faster whether you are premium or not. Check-out is also well organized. For transportation we used their Vacaciones Barcelo service. There were fast, punctual, and friendly. I would highly recommend them. The service here is mostly wonderful. In the buffet we had Maria Salas again this year. She is very attentive and our coffee never went empty. In the evenings at the buffet we had Ani and she was wonderful as well. Very sweet. At the pool bar, Alexis, Estobian, and Gregario are a team that kept things moving and were wonderful to use during our 10 day stay. If you ask for "lite on the alcohol", they do it which is much appreciated. The beach is expansive and has plenty of open spaces for shade or full sun. There is only one pool and it tends to have most of the chairs taken. But it is very clean and plenty of room in the pool for everyone. The cleaning staff work very hard and do a nice job. Before I move on to the limited cons, I ask that you tip readily and plentifully. These people work their tails off for us and a few bucks in a tip is a great demonstration of your gratefulness. Cons: It is a smaller resort. Also everyone reserves chairs. …
We came here 6 years ago for our honeymoon and had a great time. This trip was even better. The one big critique we have is the quality of the rooms, but we knew that coming in. We stayed in a Superior Ocean Front Room and had the premium level package. I would recommend getting the premium level for the ease of check in/check out, the advance dinner reservation ability, and the access to all of the restaurants. We had great dining experiences. For breakfast, the buffet at Caribe is very good with a lot of options. For lunch, everyday we ate at La Brisa. The lunch buffet there is awesome, the view is great, and the service is really good. The best dinners we had were by far Chez Gourmet, La Brisa, and La Fuente. We ate a Chez Gourmet and La Brisa twice because we liked them so much. The service was outstanding. Particularly Luis, Alejandro and Johan at La Brisa, Marino, Joe, and Ramon at the Mamey Bar, and Jeremy and Miguel at Chez Gourmet. We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment on the Beach side, let by George Michael! Now to the cons, the rooms are very dated with old, not-nice bathrooms. The Palace side has much nicer rooms and it seemed like plenty of adults from over there came to the Beach side for the better atmosphere both during the day and at night. I’m not sure if they are supposed to (if not, wasn’t enforced) and what all they have access to restaurant wise, but if the nicer room is your preference that may be a better option. If the rooms were better, this would be an absolute no brainer 5 stars. But the rest of the experience was so wonderful that we still give it 4…
My son took me for my 60th birthday. I've never been to the tropics. I would, and already recommended this as the place to go. The beach is beautiful. We didn't do much of the activities, but we did golf. Awesome golf course.
Great resort, great people and super well maintained. Can’t find any fault overall. The check in was awfull. We waited over 4 hours in the lobby. This is such a black eye for a resort my wife and I have been to six times and enjoyed so much in the past. This was not the first time we had an issue with check in for our room. It was the worst however.
This was our second time at Barcelo Bavaro Beach and we were glad we returned. The property is stunning, clean and well-maintained. The staff is friendly, efficient and warm. The beach is incredible. And the food is fantastic - lots of variety at the buffet and everything is high quality. We also ate at La Brisa and Chez Gourmet and were thoroughly pleased with our meals. The much larger Palace resort is a quick, convenient and frequent shuttle ride away, but there is also a lovely limestone walkway connecting the two properties. We can’t wait to return!
Firstly, the portion of Bavaro Beach where Barcelo Beach is located is Prime and best location. Barcelo Beach section is wider, less crowded and more relaxed vibe than its sister hotel (Barcelo Palace) located next to it. We spent 10 days and we were not approached by a single vendor. The seaweed was expected and really bad on some days but on other days you'll hardly notice. Secondly, the best a la carte restaurant is called Chez Gourmet (French) located at Barcelo Beach and free of charge to their guests. Its superior to other Barcelo Palace Restaurants that I'd also recommend such as Lindo (Mexican), Kyoto (Japanese) and La Fuente (Spanish). But not even close in terms of Food quality and Service. Josefa and Luis made you feel at home at Chez Gourmet with their top notch service. Don't bother with Coral (seafood), Santa Fe Steakhouse as you'll be disappointed. Barcelo Beach Buffet Service at Caribe is average and gets repetitive. Recommendation is to mix it up by paying extra $10 for lunch at La Brisa or Burger and Fries for free at Hoya 19 (Golf Course restaurant) which is 10 mins by Tram. For Bar, the best is Mamey's which is located just past Front Desk. They have the best bartenders and a wonderful Italian made coffee machine. Latte, Cappucino and Espresso are just a notch below Starbucks quality. Another tip is to visit La Pina, a hidden bar at edge of Barcelo Beach and they'll serve tropical cocktails on a coconut or pineapple for $4/$7. Groundskeeping is immaculate. Our Oceanview Room on the Ground Floor had its own garden patio with your own chaise lounges and a patio table for two. We stayed in Building 3 and it was just perfect. A stone's throw from the beach yet far away from the Nightly entertainment. The biggest flaw at Barcelo Beach are their rooms are dated and way overdue for renovations. Expect your room to be 3 star quality even if the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms clean. The Housekeeping staff are friendly and accommodating and deserve their tips. But the rooms are stuck in the 1980s. We observed some of the Junior Suites located in Barcelo Palace Section and they appeared to be newer and renovated in last 3-4 years. Still, I would not stay at Barcelo Palace. If you're looking for a mass production experience with thousands of guests in a Mall environment, then the Barcelo Palace is for you. Think of Barcelo Beach's beauty as Au Naturel - doesn't wear a lot make-up but is naturally beautiful. …
I had never been to an all-inclusive before so I can’t compare, but I can’t imagine asking for anything else. The beach and pools are beautiful. There were no solicitors on the beach! We met some people at the airport from other resorts that said it was very annoying on their beaches, but this resort has security so you don’t have to worry about it. Staff is friendly, all restaurants and buffets were tasty, and bars served guests quickly. The spa provided great massages and the hydrotherapy has a hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, and steam room. An hour of water activities daily where you can snorkel, kayak, SUP board, or take a hobie cat out. They have Zumba and volleyball on the beach every day. Casino was fun. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and maintained perfectly. They are always cleaning and making sure everything looks pristine. They have nighttime entertainment in the theater as well. I would highly recommend upgrading to premium. You get a better room, more restaurants, free hydrotherapy, free mini golf, free room service, major discounts on massages, etc. Can’t emphasize how valuable we thought it was for the price. When we booked our room we added the group bus transportation to and from the airport that the hotel provided via Barcelo Vacaciones. Highly recommend doing that. It was cheap and they were always timely and convenient. Much easier than trying to find a ride at the airport when you get there. Also, if you depart late in the day from the hotel you can leave your bags up front with the hotel and spend your day at the resort still. There are showers in the lobby bathroom if you want to enjoy the beach even after you checked out of your room! Gym was average - needs updated equipment and not very big, but obviously not a big deal since that’s not what we came for. Also, the excursions take off on the far side of the beach so you hear the music from the boats. It didn’t bother us a bit, but some people didn’t care for it. We did not do an excursion, but boats took off from one side of our beach and rode to the other end so it doesn’t seem that exciting for the price, but maybe I’m wrong. Overall, would highly recommend. So much to do there and very relaxing. Lots of guests have returned here year after year and I can see why!…
Overall the stay was very good. We enjoyed the daily activities that were going on around the resort. The drinks were nice and tasty and refreshing during the day. The nightlife was mediocre however with the music being played at the club being a bit hard to dance too, but otherwise was fun. We definitely enjoyed our stay
Great beach, excellent facilities and attentive service at this resort. The food is all good quality - the best food quality and experience is the teppanyaki at Kyoto. This was our second stay at the Barcelo Bavaro resort and we would go again.
Sunshine, 28 degrees Celsius every day! Completely relaxing when we wanted to. New Year's Eve Party was EPIC! Several excellent restaurants. Met some wonderful people from around the world. The masseuse at U-Spa was just right. The Beach was well-maintained, and the water was warm and inviting.
