Amarante was the best! The hotel was very nice and everything was great. Amarante was very attentive and helped us with everything. The Rivera pool was awesome and very everything. Everything about our trip was amazing!
I stayed at the Melia Caribe with my husband and our two children (aged 15 months and just under 3 years). After reading the mixed reviews on here I was nervous about this holiday. As you can imagine being a mum with two young children travelling long distance to another country I had a lot of concerns regarding safety of both the resort and the surrounding areas. When we arrived we were stunned by how beautiful the lobby was. We stayed at The Level so checked in in The Level lobby. The Level lobby had a self-service bar with premium spirits and a hot drinks area with pastries/cakes/sandwiches depending on the time of day. There’s also a play area. Check in at the main lobby seemed to be much faster and there were a lot of people waiting to be checked in at The Level. I understand wanting to give people that had paid a premium a more hospitable check in, but after travelling for so long we just wanted to get to our room. We checked in and waited a little while for our concierge, but eventually just went to the room because we wanted to get the kids to bed. We stayed in Villa 52. We had a lovely big bed and jacuzzi bath. When we arrived the air con had been set to 16° and there was a smell of damp. It was late so we turned off the air con and went to bed. When we got up in the morning the damp smell had subsided. Otherwise we were happy with the room. We decided in future to keep the air con low during the day and use the ceiling fans overnight as even with the air con off/low the room seemed to stay cool. We met our concierge that morning, Joan Soso, who asked if we were happy with the room. We were a bit hesitant so he pushed and we said about the damp smell and he said he would arrange for someone to have a look at the air con. Later in the day when we went back to our room the damp smell was gone and we didn’t have any problems for the rest of our stay. We had a ground floor room, which was ideal for us as we had a double buggy. It would have been difficult to be on a higher floor as there is no lift. The extra bed for my toddler was a camp bed - she didn’t end up sleeping on it because she usually has a bed guard at home, she slept in with myself and my husband, but that wasn’t a problem because the bed was nice and big. There are full sized Rituals - The Ritual of Dao toiletries in the shower, so if you aren’t fussy about what you use these smell great. The one thing we didn’t expect from reading reviews was just how beautiful the whole resort was. From the gardeners to the people walking round the resort freshening up the paint, people were constantly working to keep the resort in top shape. I usually hate using toilets by the pool/beach but these were cleaned regularly. In fact all of the public toilet areas seemed clean and fresh throughout our stay. My husband and I were concerned before we arrived about how much hard work the kids would be, but there is so much for families at this resort we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves as much as they did. Every pool had a shallow pool area for younger children and you also have the water park, which was great. I took my older child into the kids club a couple of times to play out of the sun and she loved that too. The main pool by the beach was lively and there was a great aqua aerobics/dance class every day which was at times pretty funny to watch. Something I noticed about the reviews before I went was how a lot of staff were named and it did make me question whether they had asked to be mentioned in a review. However, after having been here I completely understand. All of the staff we encountered during our stay were very helpful, but there were some people that really stood out and I wish I had taken note of their names so that I could give them a shout out. Our concierge, Joan, booked us into some restaurants during our stay. Firstly we went to the Japanese restaurant (which costs extra). The service was excellent and the food up until the mains was delicious. The main course was steak and lobster, which was cooked in front of us. Unfortunately the lobster was a bit over cooked and the steak was chewy, which is a shame because up until that point we really enjoyed everything we ate. We also booked into Hacienda, Capri and Alma. We ended up cancelling Alma because the kids would fall asleep in the restaurants, whereas when we went to the buffets we would have food straight away so we could all eat together and maybe even make the family entertainment. We ate at all the buffets. The Level for dinner served up seafood and meats. One night there was roast lamb which was so tasty. I also really enjoyed the stewed beans and lentils, however if you are a vegetarian you might struggle here a little bit. We kept going back to the buffet by the beach because we found the service there to be really good. Unlike a lot of all-inclusives I have been to before, there were no chips (fries) on the buffet (not a problem for us) and all of the food I had had a lot of flavour. They had an omelette/egg cooking station for breakfast and pasta for lunch and dinner. The queue for pasta in the evenings could get quite long. If you did fancy fries, you could get these at the snack bars along with hot dogs, burgers, pizzas, chicken and some sides, depending which one you went to. The one downside we found in a of the restaurants and buffets was the wait for a high chair. There were a few times where we had our food before the high chair and one instance where it never came at all. I think there must be a shortage in the resort. This can make eating quite difficult when you have young children. Another thing that I was dreading from the reviews was the walk from lobby to beach. One review I read was that it took 30 minutes to walk lobby to beach. I think you’d have to be walking pretty slow for this to be the case. The walk was maybe 20 minutes and the train ran regularly and there was other transport going back and forth all the time. We mainly walked because it was easier with our buggy but our kids did love getting the train. We did catch the train back up from the buffet by the beach one evening and it was very busy, all of the entertainment is at the lobby so a lot of people were travelling there at the same time. I also imagine the train back later in the evening could be busy but our apartment was nearer the lobby so we never needed to catch it. The family entertainment for the kids in the evening was great, ours were still a little young for some of it and by that time were ready for bed. We never made it out to see the other entertainment or stay for the music so I can’t comment on this. All in all, we had a fantastic time and would go back here without hesitation. I have already recommended it to friends and family.…
Had a wonderful time at the Melia Caribe! Beautiful beach, great food, clean & well-equipped room. Staff were warm, friendly & eager to meet our needs. Had Alexandre Pierre as Level butler/concierge, who went over & above to help us with anything we needed - even a forgotten item that he delivered to airport before our flight was leaving!! Very grateful for such dedicated customer service! Would return again in a heartbeat 👍
Variations of palm trees and bushes at this resort is amazing! Enough shaded areas on the beach Great kids pool with slides and ice cream and drinks on the side Great variety of food Clean , big room Cool trains between lobby and beach, more for fun unless for people with disabilities Little walk doesn’t hurt, right? My only concern is that road between lobby and beach. Too many vehicle on it. It should be only for trains. Other than that great place Considering of going back Thanks Melia Carribe!
We have just returned from a beautiful and memorable week in Punta Cana at the Melia Caribe Beach Resort with accommodations in the Level Junior Suite. The Level allowed us to have our own Concierge/Butler. This person was available to us by texting him our needs and requests, questions, as well as make our dinner reservations. Our concierge was Hector, a lovely man with a pleasant disposition, beautiful smile, cordial manners, and a great sense of humour, and to top it all, he has a great command of English. The grounds are spectacularly manicured, the people so friendly. Highly recommended.
We had an incredible time! Alejandro Sosa was our concierge and he was amazing!! He tended to each and every one of my needs with a smile, & kept me well informed. He checked on myself and my fiancé often to know our whereabouts to ensure we were safe. He was absolutely wonderful!!! Can’t speak highly enough about this man!! Thank you Alejandro for everything!!!
We had such a great trip the DR at Melia Caribe. The Level upgrade was sooo worth it especially our concierge (Jesuri Rijo) who was able to take care of all of our needs. This included all reservations to restaurants and made us feel special and taken care of beyond your expectations. 10 out of 10 on service, drinks, food and over all experience!
We had a great time at the Meliá. The resort is absolutely beautiful, the food was very good and service was excellent. The staff always had a smile on their face and it was not hard to communicate. Special thanks to Jesuri Rijo for making our trip extra special. We will be back!
We traveled there the end of January 2023. We booked through Delta Vacation so there was transport waiting for us from the airport. We stayed on The Level side. We originally thought that side was adults only but there are kids in that section. Check in was easy and they brought our luggage to the room for us. We did end up finding the adults only section and went to the pool a few times. The resort is huge! There are trolleys and golf carts that will pick you up if needed. We didn't think the walks were bad at all, gave us a chance to enjoy the weather and scenery. The Riviera was by far our favorite as it was much quieter then the beach buffet. The pool by the Riviera was great too with a swim up bar and snack shack. Our butler that was assigned to us was awesome (Joan Susa), he made arrangements for dinner reservations and was available if we needed anything. He even was able to get me some medication I needed from the pharmacy. If I went again I'd see if he was available! The beaches are gorgeous and we never had trouble finding loungers. The salespeople on the beach are relentless though. You barely step on the beach and they are hounding you. We finally just had to be stern and say No thank you as they were approaching. Also, unless you want to buy into a timeshare, do not fall for the free lunch and massage coupon. You'll be taken to the Suite side and have to go through a 2 hour presentation. I would come back to this resort again but would book the adults only side next time!…
First time in the DR and expectations were exceeded. This is a large layout with different levels of accommodations with different benefits. We stuck with the basic level and it was more than adequate. The two storey vilas were well laid out and easy access. Ground floor units would be required for anyone with mobility issues. Our room in building 43 was in an ideal location. It was close to 4 restaurants, front desk, enterainment area, casino and one of the buffet restaurants, It was also 5 minutes from the trolly stop and only a 10 minute walk to the beach. Were able to get beach chairs most any tim but go before 10am. Pool side chairs were in higher demand if one wanted to be in less breeze. All staff at all venues made every effort to meet our need and answer questions. Staff were young in experience but were always friendly Had a wonderful kids area, pool and program which ran in different locations during the day. Excercise in pool and on the beach had great instructors. Sign up as soon as you can for dinner reservations, Only one sign up location by the beach buffet. Closes at 5pm. Resort is on Atlantic time -1hr earier than EST. Food was 4 star plus at all locations. Bar service was excellent. Beach was clean with little seaweed as mechanically collected. Looking forward to a return visit.…
