I would like to start out by saying that we received a marvellous upgrade upon arrival from our original booking. The minute we arrived on this property we were treated like royalty. There was absolutely nothing more we could ask for. Then we were introduced to our concierge Leonel Cabrera and if you can believe it things got even better. Each day of our stay Leo would reach out to us ask us how we were and what we needed for the day and he made it happen. The extras that Leo looked after were the special decorations in our rooms for our anniversaries and our friends birthday. The romantic dinner on the beach, which was totally outstanding. Helping us book excursions and making sure we were taking care of when we went shopping. If you are lucky enough to get Leo as your concierge on your trip you are definitely in GREAT HANDS. His assistance was top notch. When we come back to this resort we will be definitely specifying Leo has our concierge, no we will specify to be looked after by our FRIEND.

We are Circle Red members and this was our annual member week at what is our home resort. This was our second time at this specific property and third overall at the Melia group of properties in this area. In all, a very satisfying week (although some of the special experiences were members only benefits and so may not be available to all). First, as it relates to rooms, we had a 2 BR Lock Off, which is an adjoining room configuration where one room is a MBR suite and the other is a one BR suite. There were 4 of us in our group - 2 Adults and 2 13 year olds - and the rooms setup was absolutely perfect with lots of room for all. Second, as it relates to dining and drinks, overall experience was excellent (Mina A+; Amor Da Mar A+ (especially the members breakfast); Romantic Beach Dinner A). Third, as it relates to customer service, overall experience was an absolute A+. Special mentions include Juan Rivero (our concierge who literally was available for every request 24/7), Carmen Vasquez, Ermogenes Almonte, Julio Marcelino and Pedro aka Coco. Thanks to the entire crew for making our stay memorable. Finally, thanks Carlos and Santo for helping us with the Circle Membership upgrade process. We hope to see you all soon!!

Amazing for the price of this resort, they can not provide Presidente beer, Absolute Vodka, restaurants that are open, or basic tables to put your drinks on at the beach bar Gabi. The lobby bar at the Gran outside had no fans, was exceptionally hot with mosquitos. Thankfully the bartenders bought their own repellant for the guests. Jhorlennys Valdez, Jose Martes and Reynaldo did a great job however had to spend most of their time telling guests they are out of just about everything. We checked in at 5:00 pm and the room was not ready. We received the keys at 7:30 pm and were told our luggage was in the room. The luggage did not arrive until 12:30 am. Absolute complete joke, and I am a Melia member. What a waste of money and time.

We had originally made a reservation for another nearby Meliá hotel, and we do not know if by luck or fortune we were upgraded to the Paradisus Gran Cana, a hotel with excellent infrastructure and facilities. The hotel rooms are as cozy as they are described in the welcome brochure and in the web and believe me that you don't necessarily need a ground floor suite with access to the pool to feel comfortable, you don’t need it. The rooms are impeccably done daily, the room service is especially efficient at any time, the hotel staff around the pool and the beach are helpful and very kind, all the restaurants are welcoming and spotless, but we prefer to review them separately as well as the bars. Something that particularly caught our attention is the level of service that we all receive anywhere in the hotel including the doorman, janitors, transport staff, waiters, gym trainer or service bureau staff, all exceptional and truly friendly. What we would like to suggest, and in accordance with the high standards for a hotel like this, will be to create an espresso barista and chocolate bar in one of its areas where clients can taste the rich coffee and chocolate from the Dominican Republic. Something to improve that I truly like to comment on, and that is not necessarily negative since it depends on each case, would be that the concierge staff did not communicate us all the facilities and accesses that we had as clients not only to the Grand Cana facilities but to other Melia’s in the area, that’s something that a new client needs most or let the those new clients to experience the benefits of the hotel a little longer before asking them to go to the membership presentation, that little more time would give the Hotel a little more reward, but this is also entirely up to the client. Except for the issue above which we considered a minor one we had an exceptional and outstanding time at the resort. If you ask: Highly recommended hotel.

This was my wife and I's second trip to a Melia resort.. first in DR and first with our two young kids. Overall we have an pretty good experience at Grand Cana. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Shout out to Andres and Marilyn who where were our servers at breakfast everyday. They went out of their way to cater to us having the kids... cleaning up trash promptly, bringing paper cups rather than glass, and were very friendly. We loved hanging out at the waterpark everyday, just wish there was a little bit bigger of a menu to choose from over in that area for lunch. Dinner options were great, and food was good... not knock your socks off but not terrible. They offered a kids menu at every place we at dinner at, normally chicken nuggets w/ fries, pasta or a burger. Room was great, it was very comfortable and it was cleaned when we needed it. Pablo was our concierge and took care of us all week, no issues changing plans, reservations and had great communication on what was happening during members week. My only (minor) compliant was while at the waterpark and at the main pool, no one once came up to us and the kids and asked if we wanted a snack or drink. We ended up walking over to the bar a few times to get our own drinks (first world problems). We plan to be back and want to travel with more family there in the future.
