We spend 5 days in Achayans Homestay and really enjoy this time. Homestay is located at beach village Mararikulam in Aleppey district. The beautiful and not crowded Marari beach is just 15 minutes nice walk from home. The hosts were really friendly and helpful (they arranged kayaks and Tuk-Tuk for us when we needed transport to Kochin). What is more they also gave us detailed and helpful information about local buses, bus to Munnar (Jimmy wrote us names of bus stops in Malayam to show to driver). We felt that we can relay on their advices. We loved Kitchen of Greeta! She made for us every morning different Indian breakfast. :) Also every dinner was always a delicious suprise! Every meal was tasty adventure. Room was clean and spacy (we booked room in cottage house). To resume i would recommend this place for everyone who likes people, good kitchen and good relax on beach.

Dear Agnez, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a beautiful review. While tripadvisor places stars next to our business, you are our real star. Most people don't bother to leave reviews about positive experiences unincentivezed, and that's what makes you the star. It's only when we recieve such positive feedback, do we rest knowing that we have done our jobs well. Thank you for giving us this proverbial pat on the back, you made our day! We will strive to deliver great experiences consistently, please do come again. We always loved to welcome the people like you who clearly understand the homestay experience unlike hotels. Thanks & Regards Jimmy & Family Host

After a great enjoyable stay at Achayans in 2019, I again stayed here in March 2023. And I once more had a great and relaxing time there. Greeta, Jimmy and Emil are a great trio, excelling in hospitality, friendliness and in providing general advice and support.

The location is great - walking distance to a quiet beach; the option for all in stay included amazing good food, the room was sober but fully equiped, and the peaceful garden with lots of birds and trees makes for a lovely setting. I will surely be back!

Nice rooms, great food and about 15 minutes to beautiful, peacful and crowdless beach.
That was our best homestay in India. We liked it so much that we decided to come back for our 2 last days in Kerala. Jimmy, Greeta and Emil are lovely people with great attitude to guests, full of natural kindness. We had many very interesting conversations and we received more help than we had even expected. All that made this stay more like couchsurfing experience than a normal hotel-guest relation. And last but not least, Greeta's breakfasts and dinners were really stunning and every day different :)

We were lucky to stay with Greta, Emil and Jimmy in February 2015, 2 nights. They were very nice, and helped a lot with our trip. They suggested a nice guy - Mr. Basil - for our 2 days trip to Munnar, they showed us around (Market, Temple, Massage, Elephants :), we cooked together, and had a nice chat in the evenings.
The homestay is nice and clean, just a couple of minutes from the beach. The dinner and breakfast they provided were tasty, real Kerala dishes
Highly recommended! :)

Family Run Place. Few Minutes from the incredible Marari beach. There is no any nearby restaurants so the only meal options is offered by Hostess. Very good, homemade food. Breakfast, lunch, dinner options. Affordable prices. Family very helpful in any aspects. Well organized transport from and to the airport (about 75 km one way form Kochi Airport). Definitely will stay there again when we come back to Kerala.

We were welcomed with big smiles & made to feel very comfortable from the moment we arrived. Very good location, quiet area of Marari, the beach is a short walk away with very few tourists just the local fishermen. Room upstairs was spacious & clean. Jimmy & Greta were very caring & helpful hosts, they organised our house boat day trip ( very nice boat & hosts ). Greta cooked tasty Indian dishes, Jimmy stocked the fridge with beers at my request & Emil was a nice young man to have conversations with. Well worth the stay, great place to enjoy swimming & chilling out. Cheers from Greg & Jo, NZ.

Hi Fayebell, I'm sure you'll have a good time with Greta, Jimmy and Emil. I guess it's about 60 miles from Kochi airport to Mararikulam but the airport itself is North of kochi and you drive through Enarkulum (the city bit of Kochi). You should be able to get a taxi from the airport on a prepaid basis and it shouldn't cost that much. The Homestay is just past the Marari beach hotel: this is a "posh" hotel and is a good landmark if the taxi driver doesn't know where Achayans Homestay is. We actually travelled by train from Trivandrum to Allepey and then got the local private bus. If you get the chance, go into Allepey this way: Jimmy will arrange a day's trip on the backwaters if you want to take a short boat trip. The best way to get in touch might be through Facebook, Emil's Facebook page is under both Achayans Homestay and under his name; Emil James Arattukulam I think. Hope this helps, best wishes, David
