Great place to stay, about 3 minutes from the beach which isn't crowded, sunbeds and umbrellas available for very cheap price.Local restaurant serves very good food. Our room had ensuite and was spacious, air con in room, no tv which wasn't missed.Family run, meals provided for little cost, taxis can be asked for if needed, tuk tuks available about 3 minutes walk away on main road, shops very close as well as other eateries.Cashpiont very close by.Would highly recommend for chilled and relaxing break.

A wonderfull host Baiju chettan. An amazingly blissful experience. The people that run this place are very warm & cheerful. The food is just delicious & it's pretty light on your pocket too. The rooms are spotless, despite its age, meaning it is well maintained. It's quite close to the beach. The beach is one of the cleanest I've seen in Kerala.

Pros: Calm surroundings and decent ambience . Good bathroom Beach 500m from the property.

Cons: Cheap bed sheets and hard uncomfortable mattresses with damp smelling rooms and insects. Very dusty lights and fixtures. No hot water option for shower and only 1 single thin shower towel for 2 persons. Shame!
Would not recommend.

For once, I got fooled by my most trusted Tripadvisor ratings!

Contrary to the great expectations set by the reviews herein, Marari Beach House turned out to be a highly disappointing experience. Definitely not something I expect from a tourist-friendly place like Kerala!

First, and most importantly, they do not provide drinking water to guests - you are forced to purchase bottled water and that too at a premium from the printed price. In India, the maximum retail price (or MRP) is setup precisely for this reason, and its simply illegal to sell items above the MRP. Further, in India, you are expected to provide free drinking water to your guests, and the choice of opting for bottled water should rest with the guests instead of being forced.

I had pre-booked my room a couple of months in advance, and had specifically requested for a late checkout at 6pm, which was confirmed to me over email by Deepa. I had booked my train tickets accordingly in the late evening for my return journey.

However, I was shocked when Baiju casually told me the previous day to vacate the room by 11am since he had an alternate booking for the day. When I reminded him about my late checkout agreement, he simply ignored and said he can't help. Since my email communication regarding the advance booking was done with Deepa, I tried multiple times to talk to her about this, but she completely avoided meeting me for the rest of the days. She did not even have the basic courtesy to tell me about the change in my booking terms or to even apologise for booting me out earlier than agreed!

Marari Beach House is not exactly a beach front property, and you need to walk about 500 meters through a small path to reach the beach.

The rooms are basic, with a large bathroom. The sleep quality is horrible, with two single beds placed side-by-side with thin single mattresses on each. Not the most comfortable way to sleep through the night!

Throughout the first day, the air conditioner kept switching off automatically every once in a while and would refuse to start back up. On reporting the same, Baiju attributed it to a "voltage fluctuation" problem.

Not quite unexpected, there's no room service. However, what was really unexpected was that there were no change of towels or bed sheets throughout my stay.

While breakfast was complimentary, the lunch and dinner were charged separately each at 300/- per person. Food was basic, with an option of either fish or chicken (not both) in the non-vegetarian option. Tea/coffee apart from the one included in the breakfast was charged separately, unlike most other places I have stayed at.

Definitely not a recommended property to enjoy your holidays.

We stayed for three days in this wonderful place.
Just one regret: we should have stayed longer!

Beautiful, quiet beach, where the only people you meet are local fishermen and their children.
The villas are well designed and offer all what you need and even more.
Our kids enjoyed the "occidental" food, and I enjoyed the excellent traditional food.

Staff and the owners are very nice and always available.
So, if you are looking for a place to stay near Kochi or Allepey, look no further.
This is the place you are looking for.

Note: We also booked a very nice backwater trip via Marari villas

We ended up at the Marari Beach house a bit by accident but we were very positively surprised by this great hotel/guest house. The rooms were spotless, the beds super comfortable and with great bathrooms. The owner/manager was very welcoming and warm and made us at ease from day one. The location is only few minutes from some nice and quiet sandy beaches. There is not much to do around Marari except for the beaches as it has only been recently developed. Marari Beach House however provides in house dinners and its setting encourages you to laze around on large hammocks in the garden and purely enjoy life. Extremely relaxing and excellent quality/price

The Marari Beach House is located 200 meters from the wonderful Marari Beach, a perfect place to stay when you are looking to chill out at the beach. The host and his family are very nice and helpful. The rooms are equipped with everything needed. The local food they offer as dinner (veg and non veg) is fabulous. I can also recommend a nearby Ayurveda clinic for an relaxing massage.

Have just spent 6 nights at the delightful Marari Beach House located 200m from the splendid Marari Beach which is at Mararikulam 15km north of Alleppey Kerala.

Marari Beach House only has 3 rooms and is like a Home Stay which is run by Baiju and his wife Deepa who are both lovely, kind and helpful.

We stayed in a very nice and clean a/c room with a really good bathroom that had hot water which is somewhat rare in these parts for budget accommodation.

Our room and the adjacent one share a very large covered terrace area which is pleasantly cool.

Our stay included a really good breakfast which is served at the open air dining area only yards away. We paid 2000Rs per night.

As for free WiFi this was brilliant with a reliably strong signal.

Baiju and Deepa also serve delicious Keralan evening meals. It was so good that we ate there every night.
200Rs for a veg meal and 300Rs for fish or chicken.

From the Marari Beach House there is a bus stop that will take you to Alleppey. Buses run every 10 mins for 13Rs for the 30min eventful journey in true Indian style.

The Marari Beach House is close to the Keralan Backwaters which is a must visit place. Baiju can arrange boating trips to suit your needs and budget. He can also arrange many other things such as a Ayurvedic massage.

Almost forgot to say that our place included two hammocks next to our terrace. It is now 4pm and Baiju is just about to bring me a cold Kingfisher beer.

In summary, for budget accommodation me and my wife rate this place 5 star, 10 out of 10.

Staying here you are combining a great Keralan beach experience with the serene Backwaters.

Finally, the Marari Beach House is nice and quiet and the bed very comfortable.

Me and my wife would like to thank Baiju and Deepa for a wonderful stay.

We arrived late but still had a lovely warm welcome. Food & room was great but no where to sit in sun...all shaded by trees. 5 mins walk to the beach. We only stayed for 2 nights & then moved to Austins on the beach overlooking the sea.
