Marari Umapathi is a perfect place to stay for everyone, meaning solo traveler, couples, and even small to medium sized group or family of 4-8 people. Rooms are spacious and clean. You have full privacy with all requirements taken care of. The hosts prepare delicious homely typical Kerala style food. The homestay is just 7-10 minutes walking distance thru the sandy lane to the beach. The hosts made sure we were well looked after and had a good time. The homestay is built like an old courtyard style, meaning all rooms open into small garden area which can double up as a dining area. The entrance pathway and the courtyard is very cozy and charming due to the Warli paintings done by the hostess and the antique decor. This is a perfect one for those who expects tasty food, excellent hospitality and a better stay surrounded with the comfort of plants and trees. Overall an excellent stay if you prefer privacy with homely comforts in a lush green environment yet having all the modern comforts & convenience to visit all the nearby tourist spots such as the sprawling beach, historical 16th Century Arthungal Church/Basilica the largest shrine of St Sebastian in the world, the church known as Arthunkal St. Andrew's Basilica. We loved our stay and will definitely visit again.…
Stayed here for 7 nights. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, a good sized bedroom and bathroom with tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Could not fault it. Superb family homestay, they were very friendly and will do anything to help you. The home cooked food here is amazing and excellent value. Had the odd beer if we wanted one. Couldn't fault it, best value for money of anywhere we have stayed in India. Beautiful uncrowded beach approx 10 minutes walk away.
A great place to stay, Umapahati is the owner and does everything he can to accommodate without personal gain. He even got 500 repee discount on our house boat trip. His wife is wonderful and cooks great Keralan food (but make sure you ask for spice otherwise you will have very insipid fayre). It's on the road, but peaceful, so 300 metres to the beach so a glass of wine watching the sun set on the beach then back for great food, wonderful ambiance and peaceful sleep. Thank you
This was a lovely homestay. I have travelled extensively through India and can honestly say it is one of the best I have stayed at. The owner and family were so caring and kind, the room was clean and beautiful. The garden is peaceful, and the home stay is located a short walk from the beach. I can’t say enough good things about this stay. We happened to unknowingly visit during a strike and everything was closed, the owner went out of his way to cook lunch for us ensuring that we didn’t go hungry. The food was some of the best I’ve had in Kerala. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable stay.
Really nice and quite place to stay. The family is very welcoming and smiling. Took pefrect care of us, the food is excellent, Internet is quick and the AC is real beast :) Beach is really close to the house, its clean and quite, with very few people. Totally recommended!
