A hotel is something like a church. It’s the people who make it special and also the service. I have never been to a hotel where the service and staff have featured so highly. On arrival the chap on the gated entrance sets the tone. Friendly and professional. The setting is fabulous, the rooms so spacious! The menu and food are exceptional along with the service. Every single member of staff are friendly and welcome with a huge smile. This was the best hotel we stayed in whilst travelling India for almost 3 weeks, living out of suitcases. Congratulations to all from a most satisfied client. Thank you

This is a calm quiet luxury boutique hotel who are doing everything well. Really enjoyed our 4 days here. Canoe to the beach, eat breakfast, lunch dinner at a good Restaurant. Serve cold beer & wine, smile on faces of all staff they can’t do enough. Lovely heartfelt feel to the place. Wonderful to relax here after weeks of Indian cities!

A lovely hotel nestled on the banks of a beautiful river. We really enjoyed everything about this hotel - from the canoes you can paddle down the river to the beach (about 10 mins … but if you want loungers etc - then best to take the 10 min tuk tuk ride to Marari beach) - to the food which was some of the best we have had in India. The two best rooms face out onto the pool (103 and 102) which we felt were worth the extra cost. Shout out to the staff - Tom, Ashim and the brilliant Chef Benedict in the restaurant. And Abdul front of house who was very helpful from beginning to end.

My wife and I spent three weeks in India, touring around both the north and the south. We stayed at the Flamingo Marari for five nights as a very welcome break during a very hectic tour. And it was perfect for this. very relaxing ambiance throughout the hotel. The staff are incredibly obliging and very helpful. The bedrooms are very spacious and the ensuite was massive with a fantastic shower area. I lovely pool that is kept clean throughout the day and some lovely flora and fauna in the hotel grounds. It is located about 500m from the beach, but the beach can be accessed very easily with a novel canoe ride that takes you right to it. They also have free bicycle hire if you want to be a bit more adventurous and go a little further from the hotel. The restaurant is very good and has a varied menu offering both Indian and European cuisine. They are also licenced to sell beer and wine. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for a relaxing break.

This is the 2nd time we have been to the Flamingo Marari. We just love it and plan on coming back again and again. The rooms are spacious and have an authentic and charming vibe. The pool area is clean and stunning. You can take a canoe down the backwaters for 5 minutes and arrive at what feels like a private sandy beach. This canoe ride was consistently one of the most magical and memorable experiences of our stays. The ocean water is warm like bath water. It's safe. In the evenings, the locals are playing soccer and you can witness the best sunsets in the world. The family who runs Flamingo are amazing people - we loved speaking with Varun, Rose and their adorable baby son. The staff are attentive and fantastic as well. Joseph, Tom, Gracie, Minnie - everyone cared for us and provided us a wonderful experience, including helping us book a magical 8 hour Shikara sunrise ride on the Alleppey Backwaters, and organizing some incredible Ayurvedic treatments (Shirodhara and great massages) at a nearby Ayurvedic facility. Chef Benedict's meals are some of our favorites in India. It's difficult to imagine coming to India again and not coming here again. This is our paradise.

We have been travelling around Kerela and decided that we would book into a hotel for 4 nights to relax before we went back home, so this was our last stop and wow, what a hotel. The Flamingo is quite authentic in its design and layout. It sits on the banks of a lake, so the setting is beautiful, giving it a feel of peace and tranquility. If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, surrounded by a lake and tropical trees, this is your place. The staff are all lovely, everyone greats you with a warm smile and speaks to you. A big thank you to Tom and Vishnu in the restaurant, who tool care of us during our stay, really making an effort to understand what are tastes are like and how we liked our food. This hotel was the perfect place to end our visit to Kerela.

Immerse yourself in the quintessence of Kerala's hospitality at this destination. As attested by previous reviews, the devoted staff consistently exceeds expectations, diligently tending to your every wish. Tom and his team inquire daily about our meal preferences, making efforts to procure our chosen seafood from local markets. They also allowed us into the kitchen when preparing baby food. This locale provides an authentic experience of Kerala's local cuisine. Enjoy a serene canoe ride to the uncrowded beach. On our first day the sea was rough so use good judgment and be safe. We also went fishing with local fishermen. Saw dolphins and lots of jellyfish. We also caught some mackerel which we bought back and the kitchen staff cooked it for us. Varun, the owner, shared some captivating stories about how he established this place and his other business interests. We extend our best wishes for his future endeavors. Highly recommended for a revitalizing and luxurious vacation.

This is a great location for people looking to disconnect, relax, and enjoy being close to nature and the beach, as we did during our honeymoon. Those looking for an activity-packed resort option should look elsewhere. The property is a renovated colonial-style house with a lush garden with a small pool and access to a canal that leads to a nearby beach -- don't miss out on the unique experience of taking the hotel's canoe to the beach! (the beach is unfortunately not great for swimming due to the strong current). You will probably eat most of your meals at the hotel restaurant, which had great option. Good variety for the few days we were there. Try the dosa for breakfast if available, the grilled paneers, and the biryanis. We are thankful to Tom, the head waiter, for the fantastic attention while we were there. Pro tip: pre-order your dinner meal in the afternoon to make the kitchen's life easier. We arranged airport pickup from Kochi through the hotel and the pickup was smooth and easy, exactly what you want after a long flight.
