Travellers' Choice
The Carnoustie Ayurveda & Wellness Resort, situated at the Marari beach close to the Alappuzha backwaters, comprises of 40 luxury villas, a traditional Ayurveda Spa, Two Backwater Suite in Muhamma, One Two Bedroom House Boat and a Sailing Club. The villas are designed to reduce energy and water consumption as well as minimize the use of exhaustible materials. The eco-friendly resort ensures that we use materials such as jute, bamboo, recycled cardboard instead of wood, reprocessed plastic and scrap wood. While at the resort, travellers can take lake/ backwater tours to gaze at the gorgeous paddy fields of Alapphuza, try out the early-morning yoga sessions, unwind at the beach, relax at the spa, enjoy performances by local traditional dancers and Kerala’s range of percussion music, try their hand at night fishing, cycle around villages or sail the backwaters and learn a bit of archery.

My experience at this property has been fabulous. The space on a small beach front is like a resort. Very comfortable villas with private pools. The Ayurveda therapy is the best with lovely highly trained therapists. The most lovely happy friendly faces. They go the extra mile, always willing to please. Special shout out to Tintu, Sabina & Binci. The food was apt for my plan. The F&B manager Joseph and his crew really made our stay a good one. Catered to our every need. Always had a smile on their faces. Yoga was easy to adapt to and the yoga instructor was a great help with all the little kinks we brought up. Last but not least the manager Preejith and his crew were just outstanding. We were left for wanting nothing. Everything was provided and we had a happy healthy stay. Look forward to going back again soon.

Great staff! Loved their care and attention to everything. Great food and hospitality, other than the Ayurveda diet food they have a variety of veg and non veg food for those who are not taking treatment. Comfortable rooms with fresh linen and prompt housekeeping.

My daughter and I did a two week stay in Carnoustie and I give them a 10 on 10 for their hospitality, service, treatments, food and property upkeep. They went all out to make our trip as memorable as possible. Their treatments and therapists were extremely good. I would like to mention Dr. Regina, Karl, Sanjay, Joseph, Luvkhush, Tintu, Sabeena, Bincy and the entire restaurant staff as as as house keeping staff who took fantastic care of us during our stay. Initially I was quite apprehensive about taking my 12 year daughter along, but it turned out to be a great experience for her as well. The food was delicious and healthy too! I would like to thank the entire team of Carnoustie to help my daughter and me create a lifetime memory!

Property: The property is vast and open to nature. Has its own small beach. All rooms and dining area designed in a hut style. Rooms: All rooms are not yet open post Covid. Though upgrade is offered. We stayed in Mallika and it’s very good. Rooms are very clean. Only concern was few mosquitoes which was obvious due to plants all around. Unlimited supply of bottled drinking water, tea coffee etc is provided. It also has ionizer machine. We couldn’t find Bose speakers in room as was mentioned. Restaurant: Excellent food and service. We were offered healthy food and beverages as prescribed by doctors. The restaurant chef was kind enough to accept our diet and palate preferences and on the last day of our departure they prepared elaborate meal ( on request). Treatment & Massage: The doctor was knowledgeable and kind. The therapist were all trained people and were very professional. The property follows Ayurveda practices. Beach: Though it’s a private beach but it’s not limited to the presence of resort guests but lot of local fishermen also. More attention to the cleaning & Maintainance of the beach is advised.

I stayed at Carnoustie for 7 days to address a health issue. The doctor, therapists and restaurant teams were just amazing. The tailored treatment programme was very effective and with the help of everyone I could feel getting better every day. The yoga teacher Lavkush is fantastic, I had never done yoga before and with his help I learned a lot and really started to get into it. The yoga instruction was so great that I managed to carry on with it after the stay had completed. Joseph and his team in the restaurant were super and even though I was on a vegan diet, the menu was different every day and super tasty. They made me 'special request' dishes and nothing was ever too much trouble. The treatments were tailored to my condition and the doctor and two therapist were just amazing. All in all a fantastic experience, the only down side was which is why I rated this stay as a 4 and not a 5 was that parts of the resort looked neglected, ie some of the villa's roofs were partially falling apart, weeds, paint flaking etc. This was only visible when walking around the resort, the front area was nicely kept and the poor maintenance 'further in' did in no way distract from the experience. The Mallika pool villa I stayed in was absolutely fine. There was a lot of activity going on when I left, so no doubt that the maintenance issue will be sorted quickly now. All in all I can highly recommend a stay at Carnoustie.

We had a wonderful stay for 5 days at Carnoustie! We’ve been to various resorts around the world but I must admit this resort had the right blend of luxury, relaxation and the pleasure of being taken care by a team who became no less than family! Special mention to the chefs at the hotel who served us some excellent kerala cuisine during our stay and also to Joseph and Sanjay who ensured we had everything we asked for and helped us enjoy some really wonderful and memorable family time! Can’t wait to be back at Carnoustie again!

The treatment was excellent with great therapists and we got results immediately. The safety and cleanliness of room service is fully hygenic. Thanks to Carnoustie for taking care of every minute and we definitely visit this place again.

Never ever visited a pool villa so unclean, unmaintained and broken… children had injuries due to the pool tile not properly maintained and broken pool deck. Food was horrible that we purchased local fish had to ask them to try for us. Prawns was served with loads of salt and we were asked to adjust by having it with cucumber. Breakfasts which was complimentary had to be ordered the prior night of it was not dosa. No buffets for breakfast. Pathways had no lights during night and even after several complaints it was not rectified. Staff shortage was noted and no one knew anything about the resort. No consideration was given to senior citizens , leave alone youngsters. Okay There were no life guards on the so called private beach area… the beach chairs were infested with worms and flies due to under- maintenance. We had to buy beach chairs to sit near beach area. When we raised any complaints, right from the staffs to management they were making lame excuses like they just joined or the cook was new etc etc.. Even after repeated requests of keeping the property neat and tidy even before checking in, they hardly looked into the matter. To make things worse, we waited for more than 45 minutes for the breakfast to be served even after confirming the order the night before. Everything felt NOT RIGHT!!!! The only appreciation, I would mention would be that they cooked the fish (sardine) that we bought with our own money.

The hotel and the spa are simply amazing. We organized our first girls wellness trip during COVID. The safety, cleanliness of the place made these worries vanish as soon as we entered the resort. Once we were picked up from the airport with snacks waiting for us in the car, the resort was a treat. The staff is super kind and helpful— always serving with a wide smile and great care. The spa, the doctors and therapists are simply amazing. We chose the detox program with attention to existing neck issues ( because of a year of online work). The weight loss results were amazing, and the neck pain is reduced by at least 80%. Dr. Mobi is an expert and knows the best treatment for each individual. There is nothing that has gone wrong in this trip: the overall spacious and luscious resort ; the luxurious food( any foodie would enjoy all of the divine and fresh tastes); the amazing chef and waiters: the room staff ; the doctors and the spa; the yoga and mediation instructors ; the manager/ owner Karl special attention to the details and the guests’ well-being. Anyone who is seeking a safe, luxurious, and healthy rejuvenation wellness trip should come here. Also, the boat ride is just great.
