Marari Beach sprawls across 55 acres of lawns, far-flung lotus ponds and whispering coconut groves, all threaded through with stone- flagged pathways. Living: Modelled on the fishermens' dwellings of Mararikulam, your accommodations are a fine balance between traditional form and modern function. Dining: At Marari Beach, you can enjoy the simple traditional dishes of the fisherfolk (along with, of course , a variety of international cuisine favourites) at our verandah- style restaurant. Dinners are candlelit, often with live music. Healing: Marari Beach has a fully equipped ayurvedic centre, so you can get all the benefits of this ancient system of medicine. Put yourself in the hands of our expert masseuses and you'll feel reborn. There are also regular yoga classes on the beach, in the thick of a cool coconut grove. The locale, we're told, does wonders for your inner serenity. Need we say more?

A pretty large resort, self contained with tons of activities around, helpful staff and great food. Their pool villas are worth the hype! The resort is built with lots of trees, ponds and gardens and makes for a great walk around. They have lots of birds visiting their property and a little flower garden that attracts butterflies. We had a great time with their naturalist, Shibu Bhaskar, who took us on a bird watching and butterfly watching tour. He could name a flying bird with just a glimpse and identify a butterfly species even from a larva.

There are lots of outdoor/indoor games, a restaurant and a beach side shack, and a private access to the beach (the beach itself isn't private, but is considerably quiet and clean, and has life guards employed by the hotel).

In addition to all this, it's the little attention to detail that set this place apart. Like placing a French press and ground coffee rather than the cheap alternative - instant coffee pouches. Keeping the room AC on to a pre-set temperature before arrival. Ensuring the room has a pleasant smell on arrival (few five star hotels do this!). Putting up an envelope to self-declare what you've consumed from the mini-bar rather than sending housekeeping staff to keep a check on them. (One of the five star hotels I'd earlier visited had a housekeeping person showing up at my room at 1 pm everyday just to check mini-bar! It was ridiculous! Due to that experience, I appreciate this resort's policy even more)

Also, the little things that the staff did that made our stay truly memorable. Small gestures like the chef remembering our choice of food at the live counter on the second day. The reception staff welcoming us warmly on arrival and seeing us off like a family would, on departure.

This CGH Earth hotel is one of the best places we have ever stayed and a perfect end to our India tour. The beach is public but fairly deserted, the grounds are well landscaped and there are plenty of sunbeds but also shady hammocks are dotted around. The rooms are thatched roof, having a fan and aircon, outside shower/toilet and own veranda. What stands out more than anything is how all staff without exception make the place special, they are so friendly and committed and are completely focused on making our holiday memorable. I have put some pictures on here of the guys who we got to know, but really everyone is worthy of recognition. It is rare to stay in a place where staff are so focused and enthusiastic, hard working and interested in their guests. The hotel itself promotes eco living, the food is organic, home grown and cooked to a high standard. We loved that the guys who attended to us brought little treats for us to try, encouraging us to try different flavours and textures, attentive to my vegetarian preferences. The rooms are spacious, pretty and comfortable and I particularly liked the open air bathroom/shower. There is nothing to beat hearing the sound of birds whilst showering in the open air! The hotel pool is mineral water which is much kinder to skin and hair than chlorine. Drinking water is filtered and provided onsite in glass bottles - plastic is discouraged. The bar staff are fun and friendly, they made us welcome. We mainly stuck with beer as spirits can be pricey in India in general. I went to an informative lecture about Ayervedic medicine and also to two cooking lessons with chef over in the organic garden. Both were worthwhile. My only regret is not having a massage, everyone said how good they were but I was reluctant to give up my hammock, relaxing with a book - no book? no problem, the hotel even has a little library with a selection of books to borrow. It was, by the way, refreshing to have no tv in the room, we had good wifi so were still able to check the news so did not miss it at all. Hubby celebrated his 60th birthday here and the staff brought a cake to his table at breakfast and then visited our rooms later, singing happy birthday and presenting a flower display. There was tea in the afternoons served by the pool with little snacks, cake or savoury - always something different to keep our interest. Packed lunches were great too and we took one to the airport filled with beautifully cut fruit and sandwiches. We will never forget this beautiful place, would love to return and recommend it 100% for total relaxation at the end of a very fast paced tour of the golden triangle and beyond.

We have been coming here for around 20 years and this time stayed for 12 nights – almost our longest ever – and we felt that every single aspect of the hotel was running at its highest level ever!

We booked a plunge pool villa, as usual, and the standards of housekeeping at every stage (in both the room and the poolside garden) were exemplary, with a full, twice daily service, at the regular times that we requested. And by “full” I mean full – contrast so many hotels that do little more than turn down the corner of the duvet, leaving cups and glasses dirty and the bathroom untouched! Minor technical issues were also dealt with swiftly and effectively. With good lighting, reliable wifi and ample storage, it was a space that we could really settle into an alternative “home”.

The food was quite definitely at an all-time high. Under head-chef Saiju there are now (for the first time) 3 places to eat. The main restaurant was our usual venue for dinner and the only location for breakfast. At both times there is a buffet but much of both the breakfast and dinner fayre is cooked “live” and there is also an evening a la carte. We always went for the buffet but were spoiled with a number of specially cooked dishes in addition. The new venue – the Beach Shack – was our lunch choice and what a great addition it is! The chef has come up with a large and exciting menu – mainly snacks but what snacks! Superb pizzas, excellent burgers, highly original “Baos” stuffed with spicy Asian fillings, daily changing salads (many quite inventive) and so on. Usefully, this is open from 11 am to 11 pm.

The culinary highlight was a new venture for which we happily played guinea pigs: a chef’s table set on one side of the normally a la carte Beach Grill (now evenings only). We sat on high but comfortable stools right in front of the chefs’ hob and plancha to enjoy truly impressive courses, including a lobster main. They plan to run 2 different menus, with a maximum of 6 guests and will perhaps include the option of a wine pairing, but even as it stands this represented the smartest cooking we had seen in 7 weeks (and there was some stiff competition!). The transformation that Saiju has achieved with a team of chefs who once churned our only mass catering on buffets is simply remarkable! (I am not sure what the final pricing will be when this is fully up and running but the figures mooted seemed eminently fair for such a great experience.)

The service in all the restaurants was first class: friendly and informal but attentive and imaginative, with such a zeal for remembering likes and dislikes that it sometimes it seemed a shame to disappoint them by breaking out! I can’t move on without mentioning Akhil, Sephanya and Anuraj who are just in a class of their own!

It’s fair to say that the welcome for repeat guests like ourselves adds all kinds of generous extra touches but, even discounting for that, this is for anyone an exceptional property that is being very well run by the current GM. Bravo and thanks!!

A short stay at Marari with minimum or no contact from the outside world. Staff who wear masks and gloves at all times, rooms sanitised before we check in and after we check out, cottages that are socially distanced, the deluxe Garden villa has a big pool for those who have missed the pool. An awesome place with great food. Beach is of course an added attraction. :)

Marari beach is wonderful. It has security staff who ensure that only resort guest use the site and the sand is clean and the sea warm. The sunsets over the sea are spectacular.
The lodge accommodation is attractive and well appointed with an outside en-suite, air con and twin beds. (My only complaint would be that the pillows are very hard and weighty).
The site is large with a very good restaurant plus a seafood restaurant and a beach bar serving lighter lunches. The pool is surrounded by plenty of sun loungers and has a pool bar which will also serve light meals.

Don’t stay without a visit to the fishing village just along the beach. A wonderful experience watching the brightly coloured fishing boats coming in with their catch.

Overall a very nice site (shame about the pillows)

This is a very well run and eco-friendly resort. It is unusual to begin your stay at a hotel with a tour of the sewage works and biodigester, but that is what we chose to do (it's not compulsory!). It was fascinating. The individual bungalows are decorated to a high standard and are very roomy. The bathrooms are in enclosed courtyards open to the sky, yet completely private. There is a large and well maintained swimming pool as well as the sea just over the dunes. The coconut palm fringed beach is beautiful. The grounds are full of birds and stunning butterflies and there are interesting tours with a naturalist available. The food in the restaurant is top class and there is a mixture of Indian and Western food styles. The staff are very helpful and pleasant although occasionally service in the restaurant was a bit hit and miss! Not a problem since everyone meant well, but were under quite a bit of pressure at busy times. We would highly recommend it for a short break.

It was a family vacation including my parents with the fear of Covid infection lingering at the back of the mind. But it turned out to be a fantastic and relaxing vacation. The place is well maintained and rooms are sanitisedsanitised, and the sprawling property spread over 30 acres helps with social distancing. We had a great time at the private beach, two restaurants serving a variety of cuisines, the Kerala dishes were exquisite. Waking up to the chirping of birds, and there are cranes and mongoose waking around at a leisurely pace!
Overall we had a fun time and would love to come again. Next time I want to try the rooms with the large pool attached.

Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The detached garden villas are beautifully designed, I was initially worried about the semi outdoor ensuite adjoining bathroom but needn't have. The commitment to environmental and green issues are to be applauded. Special mention to Vasuda, the trainee chef who also carried out the daily cooking demonstrations. She has a very promising career ahead of her. The explanations, her humour and knowledge was very impressive for one so young. Also a shout out to Akhil our waiter who was very helpful and attentive. Huge thanks to the yoga master, Dr Krishna Karup who conducted the daily morning yoga sessions. The salt water pool was excellent, 25m long so great for lengths. The three restaurants were superb, if there was a dish that didn't meet expectations, the chef wanted feedback so that it could be improved the next time round. All staff on site work so hard and are all a delight and huge asset to this resort. The grounds are stunning and impressive. The butterfly garden was fabulous. There's so much to do and keep oneself entertained. I stayed for 5 days and was thrilled with the amazing experience. Watching the sunsets wad a joy to behold 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

All staff work incredibly hard yet always have a beautiful smile on their faces. The staff at the resort work very hard to uphold the very high standard.

The Beach grill and Beach Shack were both great places to eat, despite service being a little slow.

My only disappointment was the printing of unnecessary bills in duplicate to cover all sections. The reason given was that each arm of the food & drink section needed their own independence.

Apart from that, the experience was thoroughly enjoyed. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this resort or recommend it. The food, location and hospitality was perfect.

This hotel has to be the ideal place to end a holiday in Kerala, it is the perfect place to wind down after a busy schedule. For those who feel energetic there are plenty of options on offer. The swimming pool is really lovely with lots of sun loungers and shades. It has a lot of beautifully maintained bungalows spread out sensitively with paths and good lighting. The rooms are air conditioned but there are also fans inside and out. As with many other CGH properties the shower is partially outside, but private! An early morning walk along the beach to watch the fishermen come back in with their catch was fascinating. The sea, though not a tempting colour, is a very pleasant temperature. Take advice from the lifeguard as to when would be the best time to swim as the sea can be quite choppy.

We ended up staying 6 days over New year as a family of 5 , staff, food, accommodation, location and facilities were all outstanding. We loved the laid back approach and participated in the cooking class where you pick the organic vegetables and create your own menu and cook it - we loved that, we also had Ayurveda treatments _ good for body and soul :) and spent most of the time hanging out on the beach watching the fishing boats going in and out. New Years eve was such fun we partied away the night with quests and the hotel staff we all had a lot of fun. We had a fabulous stay here and wouldn't hesitate recommending Marari Beach resort

We've just returned from the resort. The resort is incredibly safe. There's security on all entrances, and LOTS of staff around at all times. You CAN sunbathe on the beach in front of the hotel. There's a few loungers just by the hotel entry to the beach area, but not with umbrellas or service. although there is a lifeguard there. The sea is a little rough for actual swimming, and as the pool is so large, most people sunbathe by the pool where there's a lot of bed and umbrellas, and bar service.

Yes in terms of weather January would be an excellent time to visit Kerala generally and Marari Beach in particular. It will be very warm but not unbearably hot and it should be mainly dry. Marari Beach is one of my favourite places in the world so hope you have a great time.

The hotel authorities would be the best people to answer the question on bursting crackers but what i can safely assume is that this place is very mindful of every guests getting their quiet and peaceful time during their holidays. Although the place was almost full, we hardly felt it. And yes, the place is far from the hustle bustle of the town.
