If you plan to stay at Mararikulam, you should try to get a booking at the Praise marari homestay. I say this because it will enhance your overall experience of Kerala. First it is right on the beach, miles and miles of pristine sea and sand less than 10 ft from the homestay. There are two rooms on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The rooms on the first floor open to a large verandah offering a panoramic view of the sea throughout the day. Also you can watch the fishermen bringing in the morning catch and an a weekend you can see a tourist or two walk by. Second the rooms are large, air conditioned with attached bathrooms and cleaned regularly. Toiletries are sparse but you can ask for more. But what sets the Praise marari apart from the rest is the food which is outstanding. Chechi 's cooking has to be the 'BEST IN KERALA' , we gorged on mountains of idli, dosa and tons of sambhar and coconut chutney, all freshly prepared each day. We also had lunch and dinner on several occasions. Chechi 's food is a true reflection of authentic Kerala cooking, prepared with a zillion ingredients, spices and lots of love and care. Nothing can beat that. Also the warmth of the entire family of four is a precious gift which enlivens your holiday to another level. Praisy and Praise the kids and Kosy and Rini their parents work very hard to ensure that everything is perfect for you. The homestay truly felt like a warm and loving home. We stayed three weeks and wish we could stay more.…
I found a real paradise on the beach. As a female solo traveller I found many advantages being hosted by Praisy, Prais and their parents: first of all the kindness and availability for any of my requests; the home food was fresh and delicious; the room was very spacious and clean. I really felt safe and I would recommend this accommodation to any couple or solo traveller which are exploring Kerala.
The homestay is right on the beach affording you great views from the top floor rooms and balcony. As you look out from the balcony you get to see the vast expanse of the Arabian sea, you see fishermen bringing in their catch, kids playing football on the beach. Marari Praise resorts gives you a ring side seat to a sleepy, authentic fishing hamlet. With clean beaches stretching for miles; accessible just 10 feet from your room, the homestay has a great location. The rooms are huge and well maintained and cleaned on a regular basis. The Air-conditioning is powerful and we enjoyed a great siesta after a really wholesome lunch. Bathrooms were tidy, toiletries were sparse but clean towels were available at request. Food was served on the top floor balcony overlooking the beach. Would recommend you get a few beers to beat the humidity. The real star of this property is neither the stellar location or the great rooms. I rarely write reviews but Marari Praise warranted one thanks to the family that runs it. Koshy and Rini along with their kids Praise and Praisy are some of the best hosts I have had the pleasure of staying with. They were ready to accommodate any of our requests. Often going out of their way to help us out. Like other reviewers have mentioned the hosts are amazingly patient with guest requests. I will recommend this place to friends and family just to experience the hospitality of the host family. Previously I had stayed in a chain resort nearby and the experience was ok. It was an experience that is sanitized and packaged to tick boxes. A version of Kerala that they think visitors will enjoy. Marari Praise on the other hand was the real Kerala : warm, authentic people living real lives. …
The location was right by the very unspoiled beach. we stayed on the first floor where we had beautiful view of the beach and the local fishing boats, where the fishermen sorted out their catch and tended to their nets in the morning. We had a good simple breakfast on our balcony every morning of eggs with toast and jam, watching the fishermen at work with the kites flying overhead looking for any fish they could get. Our room in the Homestay was a decent size and clean, with hot water and AC. Johny our host was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him.
Marari Praise was everything we wanted in our stay in Kerala. The homestay us run by a really friendly family, who cannot do enough for you. We we're lucky that the owners 2 children (17 & 16) were in Xmas holidays which meant they looked after us all 5 days of our stay. They were excellent hosts (see picture). Xmas Eve was an excellent night, with the hosts ensuring everyone got a small gift. Just another example of what a great place this is. On the practical side, the rooms are spacious and clean. The shower is excellent, as is the aircon. Breakfast was good as was dinner. You can get beer as well if required. The beach is beautiful. Very unspoiled. There is a 5* resort just a few minutes walk on the beach. We had one meal there, which although good, was just the same standard as we were served at our homestay and with a couple of bottles of wine, the bill was almost as much as our whole stay at the homestay. My advice is, you don't need to go to the 5*. Stick to the homestays. They All offer great food and it is a much better (in my opinion) experience. Thank you guys. We will be back! …
