Velero Beach rates high in all my measures. Its right there in Cabarete beach at walking distance of many restaurants and night attractions. There is kite surfing all around the hotel and even though the beach spot right in front is no good for bathing...More
I enjoyed my time at Velero Beach resort. That view of the beach was amazing along side the wonderful breakfast that was prepared. The staff there were very nice towards me. Especially Victor from the front desk. He is a phenomenal employee that made stay...More
I would like to share my very positive experience of staying at Velero beach resort . Great friendly service. My room was big and perfectly clean with a large seaview balcony from where I could see lovely sunrise. The pool area was nice and clean...More
Just want to thank all the staff at this beautiful hotel for rescuing our holiday after staying in a dreadful hotel in Puerto Plata and got sick, the staff went above and beyond for us all and really made us feel welcome!! The hotel...More
Stayed here for 10 days in October (off season). The staff were wonderful, basically became friends with everyone here while we stayed. Among the other restaurants in Cabarete, their hotel restaurant by far is the best. It was a comfortable, safe place to stay. Great...More

Actually, they do have a small beach between the pool and the ocean (management has a photo with some blue chairs lined up by a short retaining wall - very true liking). The hotel grounds are a bit elevated, so there is a short retaining wall and three steps down to the beach. And miles of beach walking to either side of the hotel. Just have to go over some rocks (or swim) if you want to go to the left. I'm a beach person myself, but I loved this set-up. You are three steps up from the beach, so have a luxury of a great view and fancy beds and yet very close to the ocean and the sand if you wish to. We had no trouble having chairs down on the sand for a while and then coming back up. If you happen to be there during local holidays with hundreds of locals coming down to the beach (they are all public in Dominican), you'll really appreciate the option of being close to the ocean yet up within your resort, away from the crowd. There is a security guard usually standing at the stairs to the beach. They have an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, too, which makes it really nice... Gorgeous setting and very convenient. It gives you an option/ best of both worlds.

You can rent a car at the airport or hire a driver. We have several drivers that work with us, they are reliable, have new vehicles with wifi, and speak English. We can arrange your pickup at the airport, and return if you'd like. The drive from Santo Domingo is not bad, but if you won't need the car while in Cabarete, it's probably a better idea to use a driver.
