We stayed in the two story building. The room was excellent and different from what we are used to.
One night we could hear drumming and singing coming from the village. It was peaceful and made us feel we were part of the local scene.
The first two days we were there by ourselves and the staff were overly helpful.
Our guides were very friendly, knowledgeable, and determined to make our experience memorable.
The food was what we expected, wholesome and filling.
Our three days in the national park were long, and we experienced long waits along the river watching out for wildlife; which will reward you.
We saw a rhino, crocodiles, otters, jackals, owls, several species of deer, languir and macaque monkeys, many birds and insects; and on the last afternoon a royal bengal tiger!
On our last morning we rode some bikes around the local villages and joined the children riding to school.

This place was the highlight of our trip! You feel like you are in the park. The whole staff is extremely attentive while you are on the property. Mohan, the owner, went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He even arranged for us to get picked up by tuk tuk from where the bus dropped us off even though we forgot to tell him when we were arriving.
The safari guides are also incredible. Kedar took us on a walking safari and a jeep safari and even though we were just after the monsoon season we saw a tiger and a rhino!
I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back here on our next visit!

After a long trek in the far west of Nepal I was very lucky to stay at Forest Hideaway Resort for a two day safari experience. Its only two hours car drive from Nepalganj airport. Very relaxing place, Rohan and his staff made us feel really welcome. The guides were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw two species of wild crocodile and two wild elephants before we even reached Bardiya. On day one of our safari we saw two tigers and countless Spotted deer and numerous species of birds. Also glimpses of River Dolphin. On day two we had glimpses of a female Rhino with her calf, Mongoose, Samba deer, Hog Deer and Barking deer. We had the experience of driving around the tracks in the reserve but also walking and sitting quietly and waiting. A really relaxing place, basic but comfortable accommodation. The perfect wind down after trekking, the perfect place for any wildlife enthusiast.

I enjoyed great hospitality in Forest Hideaway. The room was clean and comfortable with a hot water and a warm duvet. Service was excellent. The guided walk in Bardiya National Park was beautiful. I have to come back to see the tiger, but saw elephant, rhino, beer and many birds.

A really nice resort with standards and facilities as expected. Clean room, comfortable bed, lovely garden. All food was great and cooked freshly to order.
Mohan and his staff could not have been more helpful.
The jeep safari and walking safari were both long days, but interesting - with very knowledgeable guides. Unfortunately, we did not manage to see a tiger, but great close-up with a rhino, lots of beautiful birds, and the river dolphin was an unexpected bonus.
I can thoroughly recommend this resort

We are unsure if our experience at Forest Hideaways was a special circumstance, we do not wish to accuse the staff of always being dishonest, but think it is important to share our experience. We booked with FH as it is the top choice in lonely planet. The rooms are comfortable and the jungle safari prices are typical. The food is mediocre, a bit over prices and plan, but fine.
On our first night, we came back from the dining hall and noted that our door was open. We began packing for the next day and soon realized that our passports, money and medical supplies (i am type 1 diabetic) were missing. After thorough searches of the room we decided to inform the manager. The manager was hard to locate, and when he came out of his home, he was belligerent and intoxicated. He accused us of being stupid, of misplacing our items, etc etc. After stressing the severity of the missing medical supplies, he decided to have some of his staff come to our room to help us "look" for these items. While they riffled through our stuff we were called back outside, where suddenly, we found some of the medical supplies strewn on the ground. They suggested that a dog had broken in to our room and had carried the supplies outside (complete with ripped ziploc bags and a small smudge of dirt on some of the items). While we walked the grounds collecting these supplies, when we came back to our room, the passports and money were on the ground. It was a grand hoax, and while we are thankful we got our things back it was all just a bit sketchy. We left immediately the next morning, the manager was clearly embarrassed, but offered no apology. We find it sad that this place is visited so often, when there are small family owned lodges just steps away that are much more pleasant. We recommend the Mango Tree Lodge.
Be sure to look your doors and keep valuables with you!
