We visited Highlands Park in mid March. An excellent stay all around. Arrival: - we were connected to a driver recommended by the hotel. He was there to pick us up on time when we arrived at Srinagar airport. (As as aside, all incoming passengers are tested for Covid so please don’t bother carrying a report - it’s a very well organised antigen test and you are out in 10 minutes). - the drive from Srinagar to Gulmarg took us close to two hours. Lots of snow as we approached Gulmarg. - even though we reached around 12pm, our room was ready with our bags moved in. The room - we had booked a suite and it was enormous. A large living room with a sofa bed which the kids used, a spacious bedroom room and then a dressing room with two attached bathrooms (all in one line). - I will point out that the adjoining room to the living room is like next door so sound traveled through. But not in the bedroom. - wood heating the living and bedroom was fun but at some point they will need to move to electric heating. Hotel - not one large building but several cottages spread throughout the property so naturally socially distanced. - food was awesome in the main restaurant. - the bar was a good place to hang in the evening. Cash bar with limited stock but they allow you to carry your own alcohol with reasonable corkage fees. Location - is fantastic. You can walk down to the intermediate slope right from the hotel (but will eventually need a car as it gets tiring). - the view from the property is one of the best in Gulmarg. Staff - so friendly all around, right from the housekeepers to the restaurant staff. - Mr Asadullah is running a nice tight ship. …
Excellent view a wonderful place to stay, great service and very good food. The only problem is they still use the “Bukhara” where wood is burnt to heat the bedroom and the living room. I was feeling bad about the trees being chopped for warmth but we had no choice but to use them. The bathroom had electric heating which was so so consistent and comfortable.
We found this hotel online on Instagram. We reserved the Bobby suite, the same room where the song "Hum tum ek Kamre Mei band" (Rishi Kapoor) was shot. While the pictures of the hotel online enticed us, upon reaching there, we found that it was far better than our expectations. The Bobby suite was ultra luxurious and huge, with vintage paintings and furniture. The heating system of the hotel called "Bukhari" (wood fired) was awesome. Furthermore, the common room of the hotel is the highlight. Every thing kept in the room gives you the old world charm. The food is amazing. We really loved the entire experience. Though the Khyber Himalayan Spa is the most luxurious hotel in Gulmarg nowadays, it is mostly a capitalistic luxury experience. On the contrary, Highlands Park really gives you the feel of old world charm and luxury while being soaked in Kashmiriyat. Highly recommend.…
Awesome hotel. It's rustic, staff is good, food is yummy and the Lounge has super 180degree view of fantabulous Gulmarg. Fortunately we were here during snow and stayed in Bobby Hut. We loved the Bukhara concept in each room and would say the rooms r fusions of antic & modern with great view. The only problem is water force in bathrooms is very low.
We were recommended this place for its food and ambience but our experience with the restaurant staff who were horribly impolite to us from the get go, discourteous and all but refused to serve us food or even let us look at the menu, made the whole experience one of the sour points of an otherwise excellent trip. Would never bother making the effort to go to Highlands again.
