We are actually very fond of this large, somewhat commercial and impersonal lodge. We have stayed here on each of our 5 northern circuit safaris, as its location within minutes of the descent road to the crater floor simply cannot be beat. But after several stays, we've come to appreciate the lodge for what it really is -- a very...

Amazing view over the Ngorongoro crater. Perfect location for early morning safaris in the crater which felt like being in the 'lion king' movie! We saw so many stunning animals and lots of them, it was fantastic. The rooms were large, clean and it was a great touch having a hot water bottle in the bed in the evening although...

We stayed here for 2 nights while on a Safari group trip; the place has its pluses and negatives but nothing major that would stop me from visiting again. The one thing I didn't like much, was the internet. The internet access was only at the reception (which could be good to some?) Tip: When you enter the room and...

Circular shaped rooms but spacious. The balcony overlooks a lush green mountainside. Sleeping area has the added protection of 'mosquito nets' although we hardly saw any during our stay. Food was good and service was very satisfactory.

We spent one night at the Sopa Lodge during a tour in the crater and the Serengeti. The hotel is huge and must be able to house hundreds of guests. This gives it a sometimes railway station like atmosphere especially in the restaurant. All in all it appears to be well managed. The welcome and check-in/check-out process was friendly and...

We spent two nights at this Sopa lodge and really enjoyed it. The rooms were nice and they put hot water bottles in the beds in an evening (as a Brit travelling in January we didn't find it too cold but for Tanzania it was). The food was buffet style in the restaurant and we liked it. The staff were...

Not sure you can here better for exploring the ngorongoro crater. Sits right on the top of the crater rim, view is unbelievable. Had great rooms with panoramic views over crater. Big, clean, spacious rooms. Staff were so helpful and friendly, they really make the stay special. Always so happy! Great touches like afternoon tea and cakes offered. Good shop...

We were impressed by the grounds. The staff was unfailingly friendly and attentive, the view was amazing and we had waterbuck roaming around just outside our window. There were blue-faced monkeys wandering about and a resident owl who'd visit at night. The one drawback: After a week of successful meals throughout Kenya and Tanzania, I had one dinner in their...

If it wasnt for the rude and unprofessional encounter of the receptionist during check in, this lodge would have gotten an excellent rating from me. Beautiful place, but VERY COLD - dress up! We had booked the room via booking.com and when we got there we were asked to pay alot more than the price indicated. After literally an HOUR...
