This was my favourite of the Serena's that we stayed at in Tanzania. Great view over the caldera, buffalo and waterback walking straight past our balcony (I could have touched them if I was crazy enough!) and friendly service! The caldera is awesome, covered by fog in the mornings and clear later in the day. It gets cold here at...

At the edge of the creator, some of the best possible views. Good food, great service. Nice staff. The packed food quality could be worked on. Nice on site entertainment. Good to stay for 2 or 3 nights unless wild life enthusiast.

The staff was friendly, especially Hussein in dining area, he remembered my name after just serving me one time. The room was large, it had a safe which was nice. The wifi only worked in bar/reception areas for me. In room would have been nicer. Especially since my main complaint about this place is there are way too many other...

Yes, it's cold at night (hence the hot water bottle in bed) and yes, the fog creeps in the crater, but what a fantastic location for the night to spend. Top of the rim, overlooking the Ngorongoro reserve, excellent service, fine dining.

This was our 3rd stay at this Serena lodge over the last 14 years of visiting Tanzania. This time we stayed for 1 night only but visited to Ngorongoro Caldera twice. The road to come out of the Crater is now paved, making it not so worrying. The road into the crater is still dirt track. The lodge hasn't changed...

The location and view can't be beat! Be sure to request a room overlooking the crater and then get up in the middle of the night to look at the stars.... The architecture of the buildings makes it a winner in any spot, but here it just melts into the crater rim. Walk around and admire all of its quirkiness....

Spent the first 2 nights of our safari here. Face it; it's a hotel with all of the pros and cons. PROS: Nice bar and pleasant dining room. They even had entertainment in the evenings and a lecturer. Gift shop (There aren't many places to shop on safari.) Lots of people around to chat with. Lobby with larger staff to...

The view from the rooms is outstanding. The rooms were clean and fairly comfortable. The bar was nice. The food was very good. The atmosphere was unique. The wi-fi was a bit slow but met my expectations for the middle of no-where.

We spent to nights at this lodge, in order to be able to get down to the crater very early in the morning, and it was well worth it. The hotel is not very luxurious, but it's extremely functional. The location is perfect and you can enjoy fantastic views on the crater. Food is average and the destination is quite...

We immediately encountered problems with our room upon checking in and it took quite a while to sort out and as a result missed the early evening entertainment. The staff did all they could to put things right and eventually we were allocated another room. As with the first room and luckily for us, our new room had the same...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
