We stayed here for one night on our way to Chaka Camp, a luxury tented camp in the Ndutu area. The views from the room and the dining room and bar were great. Rooms and bathrooms were large with nice toiletries. Bed was very comfortable. A nice welcome plate of fruit was in our room when we arrived. We enjoyed...

We were on a 3 day safari and visited Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Tarangire. Ngorongoro was no doubt the highlight of the trip. The wildlife in the crater was spectacular, and we saw all the big 5 but a leopard. Plenty of the rest though, and lots of lions. And the scenery was just beautiful. Fantastic! The hotel is located...

Stayed here over Christmas with my 3 boys. We all loved it. We had a great view from our room on the top floor. I think the bottom floor views may be partially obscured by bushes in some rooms. I was a little disappointed that as we needed 2 rooms for the 5 of us they weren't next to each...

The staff was kind of grim. Many of the rooms, including mine, have the view of the crater blocked by shrubbery. The front desk could not provide smaller shilling bills. The bar was out of a number of its non-alcoholic beverages. The food was decent, but the dining area was set up in a rather crowded way. One positive is...

Serena's location on the ream of the carter is amazing. We four stayed at Serena for two nights on 24th January 2015 & 25th January 2015.Excellent view of the carter compared to none and service was good but, the rooms were a bit small to share.Entertainment at the hotel was good especially the acrobat and the Masai dancers.Food was too delicious.

The best part of this stop is the fantastic view, and the wonderful sunrise. The architecture if unique and you can see lots of wildlife. The staff was awesome and so was the entertainment. The food was also great and so was the staff

The lodge is built unobtrusively into the rim of the Ngororgoro Crater, the world’s largest, and all guest rooms have stunning views out across the crater. The vistas are particularly impressive at nightfall as the stars come out or at dawn when the sunrise illumines the crater walls. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with mosquito netting and hot water...

The room was so comfy. The employees were beyond helpful and nice. The bar and restaurant were so welcoming and delicious but the views are indescribable. Totally surreal experience. The last morning we were there their were elephants in the parking lot. The crater and Ngorogoro Preserve ended up being my absolutely favorite. Highly recommend and would return. Early morning...

The lodge itself is beautiful and the rooms have a spacious balcony from which to view the crater and watch the wildlife that sometimes come munching right next to the lodge! The staff is friendly and the lodge offers interesting, family-friendly, local entertainment before dinner. One night we saw an acrobatic group and the other night Maasai youth danced and...

The rooms were spacious and had huge bathrooms. The food was really good and had a lot of variety for vegetarians. The reason why it gets a 4 star is because of comfort. The heaters were colder than a coffee mug that has been kept out for a while! When it is 9 degrees C outside, one needs the room...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
