Nice location on the rim of the crater. Do not expect to be able to see any animals in the crater from the hotel, they are just little dots given the height above the crater. Beautiful views. Went on the nature around the hotel led by hotel safari guide and a Maasai warrior escort.

We had an excellent view from our rooms and this lodge was so good to arrive at after a long day on safari. Room was very comfortable. Food was average and satisfying. Entertainment was good. Recommended.

This hotel was the 3rd stop on our Tanzanian safari. All but one of the six hotels we stayed at were Serena properties and I liked this the best. The rooms are spacious with unbelievable views. There is a comfortable lounge with a fireplace in the middle and the views are spectacular from the lounge as well as the dining...

This beautiful hotel sits high on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is truly an incredible structure with all external walls built from spherical black rocks cemented together. This was the second hotel we stayed at during our photo safari, and we stayed there two nights in late July, 2014. The hotel is made...

As all reviewers have mentioned, the lodge provides magnificent views from every room. We got some beautiful pictures of sunrise. The food is good providing a mix between buffet and ala carte. The rooms are comfortable and we had one with 3 single beds as it was a triple share. The rooms have a safe which makes it convenient to...

The views from this lodge over the Ngorongoro Crater are absolutely amazing and all rooms share an equally amazing view. Ensure you get up in time to see the sunrise, being so close to the equator it was incredible. When we stayed it was very quiet so some meals were buffet style and some full table service, choice of food...

This lodge had the most beautiful views of the crater, as it is situated on the crater's rim. My friend had actually recommended that we stay in another hotel at the crater, but our travel agent said that although the other hotel was nice, this lodge had much better views and was more highly recommended. We weren't disappointed by our...

Wow... We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in this hotel during our safari... It's worth for the money we pay here... Due to the ambience & view from the hotel, we preferred to finish our safari early & come back to hotel... It's absolutely situated on the Ngorongoro crate RIM... We are really enjoyed their service & hospitality by...

I've been to Kenya many times and I feel a real affinity for the people there and the animals on safari, so I almost feel like I'm cheating on Kenya but I have to be honest and say staying at this lodge and being in the crater was the best experience I've ever had in Africa! :) The crater is...

This lodge is balanced on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater with fabulous views. The views from the outdoor verandah or from inside the lounge are both wonderful. The lodge has a very cosy feel and is well decorated. The staff provide excellent service in the lounge area and in the restaurant where the meals are served buffet style and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
