We stayed here one night at the commencement of our honeymoon. The room was pleasant, clean and spacious. The surroundings were beautiful and green! The staff were lovely and helpful and offered us a bottle of wine as a gift! The wifi was ok with a 200mb limit. My only complaint is the manager although friendly assumed a tip when... More

Thank you to the staff at the Kaliwa Lodge for your hospitality and fantastic service. The food, rooms, and view exceeded my expectations. A great start to the hike up Mount Kilimanjaro. Mike DeStefano

The views from the lodge are amazing! The deck provides the perfect backdrop to view Kilimanjaro on a sunny day. The service here was great, the food was good and the rooms were functional and clean. I really enjoyed my stay here and definitely would consider staying here again. It was the perfect end to a brilliant week in Tanzania.... More

I recently travel to Haydom/Moshi for work and needed a place to serve as "base camp" for my 10 day visit and Kaliwa was the perfect answer. Thomas, Goodness and the entire staff were beyond professional and did everything possible to make my visit an enjoyable one. Breakfast consisted of eggs, fruit, assorted teas/coffee and freshly made bread. Dinner featured... More

We only came for a late lunch and did not stay at the lodge. The menu card is limited but meals were excellent: the Thai curry with local vegetables was correct and we enjoyed lunch while savouring one of most superb views in the world: the rain forest valley ending in the slopes of mount Kilimanjaro changing shades and colours... Very friendly staff, amazing terrace, promt (german) service. Built in a bauhaus style, large variety for drinks in the bar. Good and reliable pickup service from the airport. Electircity and warm water can be a bottleneck if a large group arrives, but this in normal in the jungle.

Before coming to Kaliwa Lodge, our family of three had taken an 8-day safari-tour to Serengeti from Arusha. We stayed twice at two different lodges in the town of Arusha; first-time just before the safari-tour and again after the tour ended. We did not enjoy staying at either of the lodges in Arusha. Our third-stay was at Kaliwa Lodge in... More

The best part of this hotel is the view. They have an amazing deck at the base of Kilimanjaro. The hotel is very small and a little noisy. It's a cool concept but nothing special. You're pretty far from anything and transport is pricey. Breakfast was good, as was dinner but it wasn't memorable. I think it's a great spot... More

What a lovely place to be! It's perfectly placed just a few minutes away from Machame Route Gate and is such a relaxing lodge. The architecture is beautiful: the rooms merge in a unique way with the landscape. It has a really nice deck over the river with astonishing Kilimanjaro views (if the clouds allow it!). The service was top... More

Great place to relax and get your mind off things. I had an amazing time and through the hotel even booked a couple excursions, which I would highly recommend! Not very close to Moshi but in some ways I found that peaceful. Will definitely stay again. Thanks for everything!

The new design lodge is situated at a height of 1300m on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro and it is just a few minutes away from Machame Gate, the entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park. The small bustling town of Moshi, which is roughly 20km from the lodge, can be reached easily thanks to the good tarmac roads.
