Detailed Reviews
I decided to stay in Keys Hotel For the convenience & nearness to Kilimanjaro as opposed to staying in Arusha, Which is an extra hour Drive.
The hotel is just outside of downtown and about 15 minute walk It is not recommended to walk at night. I stayed in the cottage not the main hotel. I read other reviews which had complaints.
My room was very comfortable good air-conditioning, very roomy, plenty of hot water and the bed was very comfortable no complaints.
There’s a swimming pool on site and water was very refreshing and clean this is located just off the patio where you can eat lunch or dinner. Breakfast was included with my stay and it was adequate not a huge selection. I would give us an average breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner Menu selections a varied and I would also give this an average rating.
Staff and the waiters were very courteous and attentive and I was treated very well this was above average.
If you’re looking for luxury and high-end lodging you would choose to stay in Another lodge or hotel.
Would I stay here again, yes.

Keys Hotel is definitely one of a kind! The employees here are very friendly and helpful. I was meeting a group working on conservation efforts and arrived late by myself but i felt safe and cared for by everyone at this hotel. The food and drinks are amazing, the hotel was very clean and COVID conscious, the pool is resort style and the acomidations were excellent. There is even a great gift shop with locally made suvineirs. The rooms have hot water, comfy beds, and are stocked with tea and bottled water everyday. They have great wifi also. The staff will help you with your bags when arriving and leaving and they will help you get wherever you need to go, providing great advise for adventures throughout Tanzania. We even celebrated a birthday while in Tanzania and the staff stored the cake for us and helped us make the day special for the birthday girl. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Moshi! HUGE thanks to Hans and Charles for making this experience so unique and wonderful đź’ž

My wife, Suzette, son James, and myself were on a 'family bonding trip' this past month, taking in the Kilimanjaro marathon (James 1st marathon) and the climb to the summit of Africa's highest peak, via the Lemosho route. The organizers were Wild Frontiers, and we stayed in the Keys Hotel, Moshi. Our guides, Emmanuel and Kirunga, obtain their work via the Keys Hotel. Our stay was very excellent, and we thoroughly commend not only our agents, Wild Frontiers for their prompt and efficient scheduling of our arrangements, (many thanks Susan in Head Office, and Editha in Moshi !), and the Keys Hotel staff, but an exceptional service from our guides and their team. We were so well looked after, and nothing was too much for our guides, who were very experienced, having summitted the mountain many times, setting a good steady pace, with good solid wholesome food on our 6 day hike and climb. Thoroughly recommended ! The stay in the hotel was most convenient and very pleasant: marathon registration in the hotel, walk to the start / finish - 10 / 15 mins; food always fresh and service very prompt. Thank you, all !

Went here for a formal dinner. Nice bar and verandah area. Very reasonable buffet meal and not too expensive – Kilimanjaro beer 3,000 shillings a bottle. Nice gift shop which, again, was very reasonable; a good place to stock up on African artefacts before continuing your journey.

I stayed in this hotel before and after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Before the climb I stayed in the Bungalow which is very nice from outside, but not that good from inside. I think that it needs major renovation from inside. However after the climb, I stayed in the main building rooms where the rooms seems to be recently renovated and are very nice and spacious.
Check in process is very easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was not bad and very basic and the restaurant food was very good and within reasonable prices.
One comment to the management is that they can work a little bit better regarding flies and other flying insects.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We have noted your comments regarding the cottages which we will certainly look into that. The big plus of these cottages are their locations which gives more pleasant stay. Yes, Our breakfast are not very vast, but we have very energetic breakfast which is very good for climbers. However, we consider your comment and we will plan with the chef how we can increase the menu without diluting the nutrition value. With regards to the flies, we will discuss with our Pesticide Vendor and will the best possible options. Looking forward to welcome you again soon. Regards

From start to finish Keys hotel and their staff were brilliant. We booked with them to climb Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route. Everyone in the hotel is very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable with WiFi and AC. We had a great meal the night before the climb started and were provided with all food and drink necessary throughout the climb. Our Guides were Denis, Emmanuel and Roman - they made the trip unforgettable and were absolutely amazing, I cannot praise them enough. If it weren’t for them we would not have made the summit! I would highly recommend this company if you are looking for someone to climb Kili with!

I stayed at Keys Hotel before hiking Kilimanjaro and after. The hotel isn’t full of frills (can hear other guests or staff outside your room at times) but is safe, clean and comfortable with a great location to walk to the various restaurants around Moshi. I will say the staff at this hotel is exceptional —- I had misplaced my AirPods on my last day, leaving them in the room. I contacted the staff via WhatsApp who located them and returned them to my guide to give to me. Incredibly honest— couldn’t ask for more.

A small group of us stayed at Keys Hotel before going to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was quiet, clean and the food was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also safely stored for us a bag of stuff we didn't need to take up the mountain. Nicest thing ever; expertly cleaned our dirty hiking boots at no charge when we returned from the mountain. Totally grateful to the reception staff, those who cheerfully served us during meals, the lady who cleaned our boots and the manager who would pass by and make sure all was well.

I stayed here while family climbed Kilimanjaro and felt safe and protected. Visitors are a good mix of climbers from all over and Tanzanians passing through or coming for special events. One does have to make an effort to connect with folks, but had a great time dancing with staff when a musician performed. Director of Operations Swami was especially helpful in retrieving a bank card after an ATM ate it! The pool is small but refreshing and not over-chlorinated. One thing, various credit cards did not work on their system so make sure you have some backups.

Dear lark239! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that you felt safe and protected during your stay while your family climbed Kilimanjaro. It's wonderful to know that our visitors create a diverse and welcoming atmosphere, with climbers from various places and Tanzanians attending special events. Making connections can indeed enhance the overall experience, and we're thrilled you had a great time dancing with our staff during a musical performance. We appreciate your kind words about Swami, our Director of Operations, and how he went the extra mile to assist you in retrieving your bank card. It's moments like these that define our commitment to guest satisfaction. We're also glad you enjoyed the refreshing pool, and we appreciate your note about credit card systems, advising others to have backups. Should your future travels bring you back to the area, we'd be honored to welcome you again. Warm Regards Guest Relations

We didnt' go on a safari with Keys, but there is something you should know about the way things work with Keys and their partners. If you're booking directly into Keys (i.e.: as an independent traveller and not part of a group tour to Kilimanjaro or something else) and wanting to do a safari with them and their operators, there's no problem in approaching the hotel and their staff to ask about their safari options. If however, you booked into the hotel through an operator, the local understanding is that you should approach your existing contact first before the hotel - it's considered a social no-no to bypass your first point of contact because the hotel is just functioning as a lodging platform, and you're a client of the operator first. Hope this helps!
Actually, different rooms have different adapters! I stayed there immediately preceding my Kili climb and had a room with Type G sockets, and then when I stayed in a different room after my climb, my room had a type D socket. I'd bring both adapters just to be safe.
The food is fairly priced and Swimming Pool is allowed to use by the Non Residents which is infact pay and use.
