I was received in a very welcoming manner. The amenities they claim to have are; hot water, tv,wifi, generator and breakfast. 1) generator doesn’t work which also means no wifi and no hot water 2) tv doesn’t work at all/ not been paid for as stated by staff 3) wifi doesn’t work hasn’t been paid for either 4) breakfast is a joke ; the kitchen said bread, fruit and bajis but the bajis were finished, was just bread and a banana It’s best they state the truth about the amenities and upload recent photos of what truly is and not what isn’t

Buffalo used to be one of the best hotels in Moshi in the 2000s. The quality has deteriorated over the years. The fixtures don’t work. The mosquito gauzes on the windows are torn. On the upside the staff are professional and hardworking. The breakfast is sad. The place has potential. If you are looking for cheap no fuss accommodation in Moshi for a night this is your place.

Staffs should be more friendly, especially those who are working at the reception; no proper response if we ask anything, answering with actions/expressions. Maintenance should be done for toilets. Same breakfast for 4 days.

For a budget traveller who wants to stay in the heart of the town at low costing lodging . Not a fancy accommodation, Plus point is everything is in walking distance. The restaurants bus stand souvenir shops..

A few friends and I stayed here on our way to Mount Kilimanjaro. The price was right, but the rooms were nothing special. More like a hostel than hotel. FYI you have to pay for WiFi. I liked the local Tanzanian breakfast which did come with the price of the room.

A group of us stayed here for one night as part of our 2 day cultural tour of the area. The price was definitely affordable. The people were friendly. It is located in what appeared to be a safe area with a good restaurant nearby. It was clean (by African standards not U.S. nor Europe standards). PROS: 1. The staff members were very friendly and we never felt uncomfortable going about the hotel. 2. They spoke enough English that we never had any problems with communication. 3. There are two nice restaurants conveniently located across the street. 4. There was a nice gift shop/art store across the street where we bought some souvenirs at a reasonable price. 5. The area of town seemed fairly quiet at night, but we were at the back of the hotel so I don't know if it was noisier in rooms closer toward the street. 6. There was a very nice view of Mount Kilimanjaro from the deck. 7. Good mosquito nets in all of the rooms. 8. Ceiling fan. CONS: 1. Two of our four rooms were fine. However, the other two had issues. One room had a broken toilet seat. The other room had a broken door handle, but it didn't keep us from being able to lock the door. 2. There was a lot of garbage being burned first thing in the morning. This might be the case throughout the entire area? If you have allergies, asthma or other breathing problems this is something to be aware of but it's certainly not a fault of the hotel. 3. There wasn't a very large selection for breakfast, but what was there was good and more importantly it was fresh. 4. The wi-fi didn't work the further back from the lobby you went which was a minor inconvenience. 5. The water was lukewarm at best, but given the electricity issues I was happy to have anything more than cold water. 6. There was only a single fan in the middle of a 3 bed room so anyone not directly under the fan ended up being really hot all night. But, having any fan was better than none at all. I want to point out that the "cons" really weren't all that bad especially given the great price. I'm noting these things here to point out that if this hotel were located in Europe or the U.S. I would give only a 1 star rating, but here in Africa I was happy to have lukewarm water, any kind of a fan, and a clean bed to sleep on in a safe neighborhood. So, I'l give this a 3 star rating.

I stayed here on the night before my Kili climb. I stayed on the room close to the receptionist desk and right at the parking entrace so it was noisy. It's a good thing I have an ear plug so I was able to sleep. They were still cleaning the room when I came so I think in their rush to finish (so I can get in), they forgot to change the pillow case. I noticed that when I went to bed- I could smell that the pillow case has already been used, good thing, there are 2 so I used the other one which smelt fresh from laundry. The bed sheet cover is not fully dry. There were mosquitos in the room but there was this mosquito net and so I used that. The good things: their wifi is not too bad, I was able to post some photos from my earlier safari trip. The staff are friendly. It is also located at the city so I was able to go around- just be careful of all the people harassing you with services and things that they are selling. The Indian restaurant in front of the hotel is good.

My agency booked this hotel for me and it was very disappointing. Service was the only part that was alright. Rooms were dirty, very noisy, the bed was so old it was bent in the middle which caused me to start my hike to kili with back pain. Breakfast is not good and I had to wait until 9am for an omelet because they didn’t have gas before that.

In the room were already a lot of mosquitoes. The toilet is in poor condition, it has broken board, so you can not seat. Also hot water can not be used because of the broken pipe fitting. The breakfast is very bad and a poor. I do not recommend this hotel.
