My spouse and I spent 3 wonderful nights in mid October at Shamba Kilole, a scant 30 minute flight from Dar es Salaam. Francesca and Marco were wonderful hosts, and had assembled and trained a fine team of over 30 people to care for the restaurant and 6 villas, so the service was a highlight. As we love seafood, we...

We stayed 4 nights at Shamba Kilole Eco Lodge. It is an excellent place to stay on Mafia Island, a very nice island of Tanzania. Francesca, Marco and the whole team made our stay unforgettable, high end service - always in respect of eco tourism (but in fact, you have everything you might need). Kitchen is excellent, with wide variety...

My husband and I went to Tanzania for our honeymoon and ended our trip at Shamba Kilole Eco Lodge and it was everything we hoped for and more. The lodge was stunning and all the staff made us feel very special. The food was fantastic - I real treat for seafood lovers and it was made extra special by eating...

Shamba Kilole is a beautifully located lodge with 6 nicely decorated chalets. The owners and staff have the ability to look after you in the very best way without making you feel uncomfortable. Owner Marco is an excellent divemaster who knows the best spots on Mafia for diving and snorkeling. The food at Shamba was amazing because after all, the...

I just got back from a stay at Shamba Kilole lodge, which was the cherry on top of a great Kilimanjaro/Safari vacation. I heard about Mafia Island from a friend, and after doing some research, concluded that it would be much quieter and relaxing than Zanzibar. Further research and reviews here were the deciding factor on which place to stay,...

My visit to Shamba Kilole was short but ever-so sweet. I adore this place and wonder when work will find me back in Tanzania so I can make Shamba Kilole my once-yearly special getaway (Universe, do you hear me?). A postponement in the workshop I was co-faciliting in the region kept me in Tanzania for three unanticipated days. I wanted...

The five star reviews are quite right - this is an absolutely fantastic place to stay, especially if you like snorkelling and diving. The lodges themselves are beautifully constructed and the main lodge is very African. The lodge is within the Marine Park & the coral & fish are wonderful - I saw three turtles during our stay. Marco &...

Shamba Kilole was the last and best place me and my girlfriend stayed in on our three week trip through east-africa early 2012. The great food, wide range of activities and comfortable bungalows alone were enough to make it great. On top of that we also got impecable service and the owners are wonderful so it turned out to be...

We spent 5 days here and Francesca and Marco and the staff could not have been more welcoming. The lodge is small and friendly. The accommodation and food are of a very high standard. The chef prepared wonderful seafood. There is a pool and garden with sea views. The lodge arranged snorkelling and swimming expeditions and trips to the islands....

Really friendly small lodge. Only 6 rooms. Simple but stylish. Terrific pool overlooking the sea (not many pools on Mafia) where you can have an intro to scuba before you go in the sea. The owner, Marco, is infectiously enthusiastic about diving so we thought we would give it a go... and were so pleased we did. The whole family...
