We stayed here for three nights in February. Hanfi and Johan were the perfect hosts, it was like a proper homestay and we were made to feel like family. They were so sweet with our three year old daughter and within 20 mins of us arriving were letter her go and feed an orphaned calf that they were raising. It...

This was our 4th stay. We LOVE staying at Melrose guest farm! Hanfi and Johan are wonderful hosts! Love the great meals and friendly conversations. Sitting on the stoep, having a glass of wine and watching the sunset.... magical. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless. Wonderful beds to get a good night's rest. Must go again....

Brilliant place to stay on route to the coast. The owners are friendly and helpful without being in your space. The rooms are spacious and food excellent. The position is first class out of Graaf Reniet so you get the real feel of being in the Karoo.

The self-catering cottage is a good base to explore the region. We were charmed by the beauty of Graaff-Reinet. The Valley of Desolation is a must see and the trip to Nieu Bethesda most definitely more than worth the while.

We stayed in the self-catering cottage on this guestfarm and could not have been more impressed. The furniture, fittings, decor and amenities were of the highest quality. Hanfi and Johan were gracious hosts; from a tour of the magnificent farm in the morning, feeding the sable, to a homemade milktart that we found outside our front door. The setting is...

This was our 3rd stay. We arrived early in the afternoon on the farm, went for some sightseeing in the Camdeboo Park and was back in time for a sun downer on the stoep with a view over the farmlands and mountains. A reasonable priced honesty bar in the bedroom was a welcome surprise. Hanfi and Johan are excellent hosts....

Hanfi and Johan are very gracious and warm hosts at what has now become our overnight spot between Joburg and Plett. It's a beautiful guest farm with stunning views, 10kms outside of Graaff Reinet. Comfortable and clean rooms, elegantly decorated...no need to look further.

We stayed for two nights in Melrose Guest Farm, located just about 13 km south of Graaff Reinet. It is located in a typical Karoo farmhouse of around 1900 lovingly restored. We had a family unit in the main house which gave us plenty of space. We had the mail meal in the house and the main course was of...

Where to start....Well, the farm is in a fairly remote area, 15 km away from Graaff-Reinet. The farm as such is simply boring. When we asked where to go in order to explore it in more detailed, the farmer simply pointed somewhere. That was it and we ought to be aware of snakes. Not even those appeared. The foot (...

We stayed over twice during June and July 2011. The friendly new owners- Johan and Hanfi run a wonderful and very clean guesthouse. The beds are very comfortable with beautiful linnen and the bathroom is clean and spacious with lots of good quality large and fluffy towels. We had great Dinners and breakfasts and the bar fridge is well stocked...
